Machchunk, you must have quite the collection! May I ask which are your favorites? If your collection is that big I know it must be tough to pick...

I'll also get started on a few of those names whom I haven't heard of, I daresay there are quite a few!

Yea ever since I got used to rap I've been exploring it a lot. It's such an incredibly varied and deep genre that it never stops being exciting.

At the moment the albums I think are near perfect come down to Dalek's Absence (pretty intense shoegaze/dark ambient-type production), ...Endtroducing as mentioned (completely made of samples and ultra-layered, leans toward trip hop at times), Goodie Mob's Soul Food (very soulful, has a lot of sung lines, but still minimalist with sparse guitar and keyboard), and OutKast'S ATliens and Aquemini (beats are a mix between roots funk, contemporary R&B of that time, and low-key soul). Ones that are on the fringe include CunninLynguists' A Piece of Strange (real 'pretty' production, part soft rock, part dirty south, part movie scores), PR & CLS's Mecca and the Soul Brother (rather smooth but still heavy-set bass, jazz-influenced with hard drums), and O.C.'s Word...Life (similar to Mecca but even more sober).

I'm not sure which of those you might already have so sorry if I sounded dorky describing something you've heard before.

No, Absence is the only one I've heard. I was actually planning to go for From Filthy Tongues of Gods and Griots next, since I've heard it's their second-best and I already love "Classical Homicide".

This is pretty neat.

K, so I just nearly teared up at the last scene of a movie that I only saw 3 scenes from (one at the beginning, one around the middle, then the final scene). This is utterly bizarre, but I think I know two big reasons why:

Skip to 6:30 if you must, that's when the amazing singing comes in.

Also, i can't help but see the similarities between Syd Barrett, whom this song is about, and Jim Morrison, both incredible musicians. The only difference is that Jim Morrison died before he could become as crazy as Syd.

You don't need to skip a part. The full song is awesome!

I think it's okay. Definitely not the best on the album, nor is it all that great for Linkin Park, but eh, it's okay.
Alex wrote: The only song I like by Linkin Park is Runaway. Otherwise, I dislike the band completely.
I don't believe you. Early Linkin Park sounded a certain way, and Runaway is very early Linkin Park. It's nothing special or particularly different from any of the other early Linkin Park songs, so unless you have some sort of unusual prejudice against the band, and/or an unusual affinity for that song in particular, this can't be a well informed opinion.

Papercut, One Step Closer, With You, Points Of Authority, Crawling, Runaway, By Myself, In The End, A Place For My Head, Forgotten, Cure For The Itch, and Pushing Me Away, in that order.
You really should try out the rest of Hybrid Theory before you dismiss all of Linkin Park's music.
