I have to be honest and say that reading Keys's card was like reliving countless moments in my own life. That includes the "I'm sorry I said such-and-such, I'm in a much better mood now and I hope I have not broken our friendship" expression.Liam wrote:King's one made me lol, whereas Keys' worries me, actually.

Re: current comic
Personally, I've only seen two instances of carbon paper in use. In physics class, where we used it with a "tapping" kind of device to record timings on "ticker tape."
And the second, well, you can't really say "in use." "CC'ing" in e-mail...I never knew that CC stood for carbon copy until my mom explained it me a year or two ago.
Is it me, or does Thomas have this thing for grossly outdated companies that have long since been taken out due to new tech?
Oh, and I thoroughly expect this to happen in regards to the end of this arc: Brick Joke
Oh, you know it will come back in some random one-off or something.

I'm saying that sometime later, we'll randomly see Thomas over a treasure chest or something similar for a punchline. I mean, it is ending abruptly, so a one-off sometime later, as, yes, a brick joke, would probably wrap it up nicely!Teh Brawler wrote:I fail to see both what you are referring to and what your logic is behind the aformentioned TVTrope's application to the denoument of this rediculously movie-reference-full arc.Buckdida wrote:Oh, and I thoroughly expect this to happen in regards to the end of this arc: Brick Joke

Also, finding out what carbon paper is, is usually just a wiki search away: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_paper
That was used in the olden days to make copies. Since we have things like photocopiers these days, most kids have no idea what it is, or what it was used for. I didn't know until my mom told me when I asked what a "cc" was on an e-mail.

When I was little, I used it to make multiple copies of drawings or I'd pretend I worked in an office. "The first copy goes to the boss, the second copy goes on file, and the original goes to my records just in case." I used a manual typewriter at that point, and didn't get my electric one until I was 12 or 13. That thing was so awesome.
When I was younger (still not in my teens, though), I published a little, hand-written (later typed) neighborhood newsletter thing. Carbon paper. I know I'm older than a lot of you guys, but I'm not that old. *giggles*

Seriously, don't you guys use carbon paper with legal documents anymore? That's crazy hobo-talk

Re: current comic
In my country, Ebly, carbon copy paper is not used anymore. We use chemical copy paper for legal documents such as contracts, mortgages, leasing, etc, but the good ol' black sheet has definitely disappeared. ![Shocked ](./images/smilies/icon_eek.gif)

Your still use carbon paper but you just don't know it..
those documents that say press hard, an have white/yellow/pink sheet layers, are the new style carbon paper.
The old style was really in use alot in WW2 to the 70's? when the army said to file that in tripclate, you put carbon paper inbetween four sheets of typing paper, loaded that into your typewriter and did your report, you would be the copies at the same time..
An if you made a mistake you have to go back an fix all the copies!! Arrrgh

But there's still something I don't get. Can't he just print it again on normal paper? Does he have the map now or don't? I don't get it....
Re: current comic
He's got the map. He just freaked out because he thought he had his thumb over the lens (which would result in a black picture) when he accidentally printed it on...yup, black carbon paper. He even wondered out loud why he would have carbon paper in the printer. So all he would have to do is print it out again on normal paper, and he'll have the map.
