At work today, a customer called in upset because she'd not heard anything on her replacement television. I'd reviewed her information and was about to share what I knew when she got disconnected.

An hour later, she called in again and somehow ended up getting me. She seemed to think I'd hung up on her. After going through "It's only been three business days and your time frame is seven to ten" for about 30 minutes, she finally asked to speak to my supervisor. I put her on hold and dialed the question & escalation line, but they had a huge wait time. I had to check back in with her every two minutes for about a quarter of an hour till finally a program specialist picked up and took my information.

I hit the conference button, selected the customer's line, and (forgetting to hit the 'confirm conference' button) said "Ms. Vaught, my supervisor Trevor is on the line and he'll be happy to assist you from this point forward." At that point, we're supposed to release the call so the supervisor and caller can talk and we can go on to the next call. This I did, realizing too late that I hadn't completed the conference call and had, therefore, hung up on the poor woman. Argh.

Then it was lunch time, so at least we didn't end up speaking a third time. I'm sure she's convinced there's a conspiracy to prevent her from finding out about her busted TV.
