"Palpatine" is definitely going for a forward thrust. I say "Luke" sidesteps, but continues to try to convince "Vader" without taking his eyes off "Palpatine".

Well, the point of the improvise option is that you explain what you'll do  . It's basically the "other" option when filling out a paper, so you can do a more specific action or use and item in your inventory/the environment. Though really people tend to mix that with the given options so it's kinda irrelevant other than to remind people that they can do that. :P
Buster wrote:"How... *pant* little faith you have in your student... He's not a mindless puppet."
I like how well that's written so much that I'm going to add that to the scene. You get a bonusu. It does nothing, but hopefully you are proud of yourself.

I should really stop giving myself more things to draw for the sake of a joke, I have Housepets to Fanimate. I have way to much power.

As for the actual battle, it looks like Palpatine is going for a forward thrust. Maybe sidestep, but I'm not sure on how to counterattack considering the injured left arm.
FancyHat wrote:I say we rush him, sidestep the sabre and give him a good ol' fashioned trench whacking! (AKA the beating over the head with either a blade, blunt object or just with ya bare hands)

Render wrote:Yeah, sidestep to the right and Vader uses the force (I assume he also has the force...) to push Palpatine's attack to the left, so he doesn't strike Luke.
Vader also takes Luke's side with that action and Palpatine might be slightly confused.
(FYI, you can only control one main character at a time. When you control one main character, the others will act on their own accord. The only way to make decisions for another character is to switch to them, or try to suggest they do something which may or may not work depending on the character's personality, relation with your character, their motive, ect.)

You successfully dodge Palpatine's attack by sidestepping! He's open for an attack!

You counter Palpatine with a swing from the left. Due to your injury in your left arm, your swing isn't as strong, but it still grazes his left arm (payback!).

"Palpatine": DEAH!!

"Luke": Father, if he has his way, either me or you will die! Don't let him decide your fate for you!

"Palpatine": Enough! *Hack* *Wheeze* I yield! You've proven that I cannot best you in combat... *Cough!* *Inhale* I have no choice but to surrender, I withdraw my weapon. There's nothing more I can do!

Action:
1: "Really?-- I mean, THAT'S RIGHT!"
2: Put away lightsaber
3: Attack Palpatine
4: "Is this a trick?"
5: Improvise

It was being spared by Luke and then seeing him tortured by the emperor that finally got Vader to turn. Let's see what we can do.

I agree with Buster on using the Force to take away the lightsaber. A Jedi will not attack someone without a weapon, and Luke realized what he was becoming when he beat Vader in the movie, which would have ended up aiding Palpatine's plan.

"Luke" probably isn't prepared for Force Lightning; he hasn't yet encountered it. However, he also doesn't trust the emperor as far as he can throw him. Say:

"Is this a trick?"

Okay, this is technically abusing meta-knowledge from the expanded universe, but your saber acts as a lightning rod against that attack, your getting shocked because the energy has nowhere to go! dig the "blade" into something metal!

If I recall correctly, the suit Vader wore had many hindrances intentionally installed so that he wouldn't rebel against Palpatine, so straight-up combat may not end well for him. I'd say grab him like in the movie and toss him down the shaft.

What do they have for that, pillows?

This is new. Colo(u)red options? I'm guessing they're colo(u)r-coded to potential outcomes...

"Vader" should grab "Palpatine". It worked in the movie; it'll probably work here. Hesitate first, though; it would be in-character to do so.

I think it should be suprise attack Palpatine from behind, the grabbing might've worked in the movie, but it also cost Vader his life, and we should be trying to save him too!

Op#4. Not even Palpatine can throw off a force choke. :P
Edit: Considering the way these are colored and the fact that they have mental check next to them, I'm guessing some options are easier and some are more difficult than the others. Op#1 is the easiest. 2 and 3 are slightly harder. 4 is moderately hard while improvise is random depending on what you want.

I vote for Option 5 - as something in between 2 and 3 - grab and pull down Palpatine's hood to irritate him and give Luke a break, then team up with Luke to fight together. Or well, since Luke is maybe not in the condition to fight at the moment, try to attack Palpatine while he's still distracted.

Just bringing up the fact that those are color coordinated, which may or may not mean we're going to either raise our mental health back up or not..Green looks good, and by process of elimination, that would increase mental health since option 1 is red which is "Do nothing but stare" which means Bye bye mental health, yellow means we stay at current mental level at the moment..

Let's just give 'em a good ol' back stabbing of which would make even the actual pro TF2 players would be proud of.

That's definitely overkill, to the point where it stops being dark and just goes comical with its ridiculousness.

My WORD ya'll are violent! Like, looking back at some of the commands, you guys tend to play pretty aggressively in combat. But even then, you're also very passive and strategic in social interactions. It's quite interesting actually, both good qualities in some situations for sure, I'm just trying to cycle through my hypothesis as to what direction you guys are going ;)

Though I may end up posting pretty late, if not just tomorrow. This last part is the end of the "Play" arc of the chapter, and it's basically the equivalent of a cut scene. In other words, lotta drawing, lotta writing. I will say though that this choice has been decided after counting the commands taking "Vader"'s mental status, and the choices you made.

PS: I totally forgot about the rest of this chapter while going through the "play" arc, which in-game wise means it did a good job. I completely forgot there was an actual situation and mystery you guys have to figure out after this. I knew the imaginate route for the play arc would be fun if you chose one of the variations of it, but I honestly didn't expect you to pick the Star Wars one, nor did I expect us to get as invested into it as we did.

I was thinking about that after going through this arc actually. I loved writing the "Imaginate" style parody humor, and playing through a scene with unique quirks and events was really fun to watch you guys handle! I may just do some "After Game Content" that's solely an Imaginate session if you guys manage to beat the game. ;)

The one thing I'd have to sort out with that is when to make the session(s) take place. If it was in the past, you'd only have Charlie, Bravo, and Echo to play as. But if it was in the future, the imaginate session(s) would only make sense in specific endings, but it would be open to the remaining cast and the Housepets! characters. I mean I could just say "bunk it" and have all characters involved regardless of their status by the end of the game and not put it anywhere in the timeline for the sake of fun. I guess we'll just have to see. :D
However, depending on the success of this game, I may just make stories that play like this game for other web comics. So I probably wouldn't make too many bonus chapters.
