So forgive me if I’m seeing things, but found this randomly on tumblr, wondering if I’m alone in thinking this guy looks like a buff version of King

Could be King but just in a different style it seems. That style looks kind of realistic almost. It does look good but I don't think it's my cup of tea.

even accounting for art style the proportions are fundamentally different. it's likely more a case of a common fur pattern creating perceptual bias.

Pretty sure. I doubt King's pattern is unique. Like at all. I've seen a fair share of photos of corgis, this is among the most common. Not everything is a derivative of Housepets.

Been a long time since I've done this kind of portrait. Kitten time #3!
Image
On the left is Bright Moon, on the right is Cheshire, aka Jolty-Kun. They're both more active on the Discord. And like the previous ones, didn't bother looking up pose references.
I was initially going to add more, but recently came across this song and thought to stick to a theme. Both characters are immortal, but when you really delve into it, immortality in a mortal world is quite a curse. All in all, fun challenge.

Finished up another one.

"Why are you eating that?"
"Because I'm hungry, Harriet."
"No, I mean I thought you were a vege- you know what, never mind."

So, Harriet has joined. And she's no one's favorite person. Based her off of the legend of the white hare, which was the murderous incarnation of a woman who was spurned by the person she had her eyes on. She's a sort of "black widow" type haunt, bound to the mortal planes. New boyfriend pretty often, as they tend to not last.

The celestials all don't like her for this, with the exception of Nikolai, my nekomata character, and it's only a marginal tolerance.

Buffalo chicken drumstick, her favorite.

I've found that despite their hare appearance, the mythical al'miraj is carnivorous.

Thanks. It's about time that I actually showed a bit of what Mirage is good at. Now if I can only manage a decent drawing of Macabre and his violin, we'd be good. I also just want to show the two of them being cute together.
dryideabat wrote:Mirage to Harriet: "Keep complaining. I'm in the mood for a second course."
...okay, I've been pondering that tidbit of the al'miraj description for quite some time, for now I'll leave it as "she could, but doesn't always mean that she would," at least with other sapient entities. Though different worlds work different ways.

It's a heck of an effective threat, though.

Macabre: "...is that a new victory pose, Love?"

Blame Brent for this.

I was feeling out of it, so I asked for a prompt.

So yeah, blame Brent for this.

Used the album cover for one of Bentley Jones' works. I have some of his music on my playlist, good stuff.

Let's see what else I come up with.

Rather nice songs, from what I've heard, though. :)
The first one I heard of his is Nothing and Everything. Strangely, song isn't available in English on Spotify, only on YouTube. Spotify I think is in Japanese. Been a long while since I last checked, though.

"...and this is why I prefer not to talk of my past, Ermina."
"Macabre, I'm sorry. It's not your fault for how they were with you."
Image
I really needed to draw Ermina more.

So, I've mentioned several times that Macabre didn't have a good relationship with his parents; father tried and failed, but at least he tried, mother pretty much ignored him. He's told exceedingly few about this, and none of them were willingly.

Been some time since I've gotten inspiration from music for my art. They've been getting more intimidating lately, as I been wanting to add more emotion to them, which I'm still working on. Also, while this song made me think of Macabre, I couldn't quite get a perfect fit for the one actually doing the confronting. That's why I went with Ermina, as it fit even less with Mirage.

Song used, "Sorry About Your Parents" by Icon For Hire

Macabre has no love for his mother, as he didn't receive any, either. His father, well, "strained" is probably the best way I can describe it.
Also, they're all Infernals, aka "demons", so kiiiinda hard to kill.

Ah, didn't know we were still doing that. Anyway, new one.

"When they say they don't believe, I hope that they see you and me."
Image
This is something I never thought I'd get to, just because I was worried about getting it good (there's a good long list of those) and I'm actually not that fond of doing more than one character per pieced because of how lazy I can be.

As an Infernal, going with the idea of Macabre not being entirely trusted by the other low to mid level Celestials. Arin and later Mirage were the first ones outside of Cerberus to welcome him with open arms.

So a bit of a tonal change from my last pic.

Song used; "Be Somebody" by Thousand Foot Krutch

Yeah, changed the spelling of Arin's name due to the fact that I was informed on the Discord that "Erin" is a female variant and someone already thought he was a female.

You know, earlier some thought that Mirage was a male. I guess this is the downside of rarely relying on "gender cues."
