Re: Art Thread
Nice work, DDeer.
Re: Art Thread
I've mentioned once earlier that I'm rather active on a fan discord for Zootopia, and decided to finally bite the bullet and try to see how Rocky would look in the style. This took a few days and there is plenty that needs to be done to make him match, but screw it, I don't want to stress myself over this too much again. So here he is.
I am very stubborn and really didn't want to remove his brace or gem.
Going with the idea that he'd get or modify shirts to have an extra large opening for his brace.

Nice, you've got the hands and feet well, I always find those tricky.

Re: Art Thread
Thanks, y’all.
Re: Art Thread
So here's something I drew a while ago, just got round to uploading, linework was hand drawn then scanned and coloured on computer, really an experiment to see if I could do it. may tweek it some more sometime, particularly last frame. Anyway let me know what you think.

Lovely and pastoral; I'd say more but envy is an ugly emotion. Nice to have another arts-ist on this thread.

Very nice work on the anatomy, D-Rock. Hey, as the song says, try everything.D-Rock wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 11:12 pm I've mentioned once earlier that I'm rather active on a fan discord for Zootopia, and decided to finally bite the bullet and try to see how Rocky would look in the style. Beautiful comic DDeer. I think that view of the countryside looks great. It succeeds in conveying a sense of vast serenity away from the cramped bustling subways (can't say I miss those).
Here are a couple of test sketches. In this first one, can you guess the name of all 4 video game characters?
Now, for this one, I never had time to really get into the series, Aggretsuko. But there was something about Haida's voice (English dub) that I like .
Re: Art Thread
I am heavily considering making Macabre in the style as well.
That picture of all of those game characters. If Kingdom Hearts was game-centered as opposed to Disney-centered. Looks nice! And have yet to take the time to watch Aggrestsuko myself, but yeah, Haida was a pretty popular character on account of his voice actor, Ben Diskin.

Re: Art Thread
Looks good! I won't give the game away but I can guess 2 out of the 4 chatacters, lost to touch with games recently. Thanks for the comments all!

Thanks everyone.
And hence why I drew Haida in that pose. I now imagine him crossing into the other picture.
Haidanort: "I am the 14th member of the real organization."
Sora: "Okay... W-why are you a hyena?"
Haidanort: "Look, I was going through a phase during my Mark of Mastery exam, playing with dream-eaters and stuff... Don't judge me! BEGONE!"

Heh, nice.
Got an ask, and ended up needing to be split in two images.

That definitely us a very great answer! I am so happy she found peace for herself and isn't doing something she detests!

Re: Art Thread
Nice answer. Touches base on a number of interesting themes. Even in the netherworld, not all is pure black. Infernals can feel remorse doing their jobs (it's good to be bad here) and are not just evil for the sake of being evil.
Here's a funny scenario that popped into my head. I was not sure which characters it should involve. Yes, this seems crazy for even Heidi, but here she approaches Macabre with a gift in the underworld. I'm curious how Macabre would react to such an offer, though I'd imagine that it would not perturb him much, enough that he would calmly ask the right questions.
Heidi: "Hi there Macaroni. I found this and thought you might like it as a helmet."
Macabre: "The name's Macabre and thanks, but I already got a helmet." (How did she get in here?)
Heidi: "Really? Aw oh well, maybe it can make a nice cookie jar or something."
Macabre: "Where did you find this?"
Heidi: "I saw it lying on the street and picked it up."
Macabre: "...You see a severed head and the first thing you do is pick it up?"
Heidi: "Yeah. No use letting it go to waste."

Which, of course, begs the obvious question, "If it doesn't do to waste, where does a severed head go?"

Re: Art Thread
Thanks, man! And yeah, I’d say you got Macabre’s personality down here just right.
Gee, Heidi, nothing phases you, does it? How thoughtful of her, though.

Re: Art Thread
That's quite a surreal scenario D-Rock, like the drawing though.
Had anothrer crack at my avatar, what do you all think? I can never get the antlers right!

Great job on both of the pictures you guys! They are wonderful!
Re: Art Thread
Heidi is always the usual naive girl, and now she's also macabre. Very nice draws and artworks, Nicholas! Good work with that answer, D-Rock. Cute portrait, Daunted Deer!

Re: Art Thread
He's a very handsome guy, Deer.
Re: Art Thread
He is ... and antlers are really tricky which is why you don't see a lot of well-drawn bucks in the comics.
Re: Art Thread
Only thing I can say is that it looks like he has a third antler.
Re: Art Thread
Bit of blue on pate, there, eh?
Re: Art Thread
Thanks for all the encouraging comments, glad you like it, yes think I need to tone down the blue in the antlers, know what you mean about a third antler, something is not right about the positioning and perspective I think, when I get time I may have another crack at them. I noticed there aren't many stags featured in comics, now I see why!

Re: Art Thread
I like the color, honestly. and yeah, I have a jackalope character, those horns are weird, and I went with a more "basic" design.
In the end, though, it's all a journey for you to find what you like most, and like drawing most.

Re: Art Thread
Any images of the Jackalope on the thread? Like to see how you tackled it. So I had a bit of time this weekend so I set too and redid the antlers looking at photos of real deer for ref, let me know what you think, an improvement methinks .

Re: Art Thread
Looks pretty good, and a pretty well-discernible curve to the back antlers. My jackalope has just basic antlers. viewtopic.php?p=915322#p915322
Re: Art Thread
The Jackalope works though. Always think it's a big dilema on antlered or horned characters just what scale to go for, too large and they just hog the frame.

Re: Art Thread
Fine pix - looks a bit more "moose-y" or caribou than whitetail but, hey, every year's a new year for the antlered folk.

Nicely drawn DDeer. The antlers are a neat design choice. With the spots, he looks like he might be a fallow deer.
I like deer too. In fact a certain animated deer was among the first to influence my art style almost 2 decades ago.
