Re: Art Thread
Actually I have more non-HP art I made that I never showed here, besides the sad ones.
Here's a little litultug animation that I made before (it's also drawn by me)
http://frooxius.deviantart.com/art/Litu ... 3922&qo=41
Here's another one - Antidesaturated Winter
http://frooxius.deviantart.com/art/Anti ... -192816987
I also made four drawings as christmas presents (2010) for my relatives:

RGB
http://frooxius.deviantart.com/art/RGB-190749824
Christmas nebula

Trismas chree

Also, here's a cover for the 2D WPU specification I'm working on, also made by myself

Those are good... all of them! X3
Zander... hmm... I'd say I like your old style, but I like your new one too. The thing that is important is to be able to shift to lots of styles but still maintain your own flair to them, so I'd say practice both! :3 Keep it up, they look great!

Zander, I kinda meant how the nose is sharp and further out at the top. Cats have kinda a flat or rounded end to the nose. ^^; Sorry if I sounded like I insulted it or something.
And sorry Frooxius, it sure is a lot of Christmas themed drawings. ^^

Anyway, what about a little piece of Dadaism? It took an awful lot of time to make it - it contains pieces of ALL 467 strips from the HP comic! Except for one. There's more detailed description on the DA page.

Re: Art Thread
Yeah, but imagine how it feels, when I get a good idea for a drawing, spend at least a whole day (if not several days) working on it, putting tons and tons of thoughts, references, logical connections and so on into it and I mean really a lot, making the whole picture very complex (I don't mean (just) visually) and after I finish my hard work, I upload it and get mere two comments, then somebody uploads a quick doodle and suddenly has twenty comments (the numbers aren't exact, but just to emphasize the point).

Re: Art Thread
what about the artists who spent their entire lives on their art, and died before they were famous. Talent has nothing to do with recognition. you have talent, whether or not you get recognition. some famous artists have no talent and get recognition anyway. you're more talented than them.Frooxius wrote:Yeah, but imagine how it feels, when I get a good idea for a drawing, spend at least a whole day (if not several days) working on it, putting tons and tons of thoughts, references, logical connections and so on into it and I mean really a lot, making the whole picture very complex (I don't mean (just) visually) and after I finish my hard work, I upload it and get mere two comments, then somebody uploads a quick doodle and suddenly has twenty comments (the numbers aren't exact, but just to emphasize the point).
Re: Art Thread
CoffeeJunkie: you mean everyone who puts a lot of effort and time into a single drawing, instead of making a quick doodle?
But why does it happen? Is it because nowadays a lot of people are rather mass consumers, that do not stop by to appreciate something complex and elaborate, think about it, about it's meaning, thoughts, message...
RandomGeekNamedBrent: well I myself quite doubt that I have talent, because I have feeling that almost nobody likes what I do and they're quiet, because they think it's stupid or something.
I'm just asking though, I'm not going to stop doing what I'm doing, because I like doing it for the art itself, not because of recognition, but I kind of noticed it, so why not ask and discuss.
It's sad though, with life works. When I read (or somehow else get to know about) some famous artists who got popular after their death I kind of wish to be able somehow bring them back to life (at least for a little bit) and show them how popular they are, because they deserve it, but what's fair right?
EDIT: I fact, I don't like artists who do art (or "art") mostly for recognition, instead for the art itself, how they like it, how they feel it, how they're passionate about it, not caring what will others think and putting own personality into it. Targeting art (or "art", and I don't mean just pictures) for audiences to get recognition and money usually highly degrades the art and the artist himself.

Re: Art Thread
it may have something to do with the fact that there are very few art critics(I assume) looking to deeply analyze your complex work on a webcomic forum. those of us who aren't art critics can't say much more than "it's great" or something similar. and how many comments do you need saying the same thing? so you get only a couple comments, while the simpler artwork is easier to critique, so we do so.
Re: Art Thread
Well you don't really have to be critic, I don't mean high in-depth analysis, but just think about it a little bit... I mean... normal people (non-art-critics) go to the art museums too, don't they, so that's similar thing.
Though I don't know what to make from the comments like "it's great", because I myself see it as quite flawed, not to mention, when a few people say it, I'm not sure whether it's just a few people who say "it's great" to almost everything and others think it's bad, but don't say anything or if others actually share the same thought.
But it would be nice to know, that the messages put into the pictures got at least to one person.

Re: Art Thread
actually, I would think that anytime someone says "it's great" they don't say it to everything, "it's good" being the phrase chosen for things that are not actually good.
also, some people may have trouble putting their thoughts into words. at the art museum, they appreciate the art in their mind, like many people may be doing while looking at your work.

But anyway thanks, I guess I understand the situation more now
CoffeeJunkie: who posts complex art here? No offense, but I noticed just a few people, which hardly classifies as "everyone".

Re: Art Thread
I know, it kind of got duplicated, I don't like it either (it gets confusing and decentralized and redundant a little), sorry. I thought that you can post any art here, even HP, I saw Zander post that picture both here and in the HP fanart, so I thought it's fine (plus that's a new style I tried, so I thought it's related to general art too), but sorry again.Dissension wrote:So we're not having duplication of conversation, keep in mind that fan art should be posted in the appropriate forum; this thread is for non-Housepets! artwork. Also, why is heterochromia so popular? (actually I think I might have it IRL, although not very noticeable because it's darkgreen/brown, the difference is visible, but only if you look more carefully (for example blue/brown is much more visible at first glance). Actually my grandma told me that my eyes have different colors recently, when we were at lunch (plus with brother) and talking about various things. Though my fursona has light gray eyes (but they can very slightly glow in light blue when in electrical field, because they're electroluminescent).

Re: Art Thread
I would suppose that hetrocormia is popular because it is a great deviation for the standard. It hads a bit of intrest to the face without giving it overly distinctive features, or scars/tatoos.
