Rosal pranced towards the pets in time to hear Yukon's declaration of relaxation, "And relaxed we should be! After all-" He sat down onto the ground, gazing up at the fireworks, "-today seems to be a day of new beginnings. As so many of us have just moved here, hopefully for the better!" He turned to the other pets, a giant smile on his face, "I personally declare this day to be a personal holiday."

He giggled slightly, "After all, it's not everyday you meet so many other pets on their own new beginnings." He turned back to the fireworks and mumbled the following under his breath, "And perhaps get to know some better."

"Truer words," David said, flinching slightly at the explosion, "have rarely been said under a curtain of fireworks. Kayla, you do what you feel you have to but never forget that, where there are friends, there are options."

Blood noticed Rav slipping away and instantly replaced his absent leash with a death grip on his collar and scarf.

"Heeey, I thought you already knew that about me."
Blood said as he pulled Rav into a partial headlock with one arm, speaking with the same fake smile he'd been holding so far.

"I don't spar, I scrap." He responded to Ripcord. He definitely look like he'd be more challenging than Rav.

"But I could really use more of a challenge than this fluffy guy."

Rav squirms and writhes around in Blood's grip, gasping for air in pantomime acting like he is turning several shades of bleu ..

David held up his free paw. "No fight, good Lucky, no fight. I have merely offered and am sure you are correct in what you say. It seems we both have an interest in Kayla's safety."

Relaxing under Kayla's paw, Gah he is sooooo wrapped around her paw..

Of course you can stay with me.. even if we have to run off an become feral, and end up living in that infamous tool shed..

"You don't wanna go feral my dad's got a rehab center and some of the wild animals who come through are all messed up like me now I think of it but I guess I'm lucky I was hurt so bad he couldn't release me. What are we gonna do now?"

I was born feral. then taken out of the wild and taught to be a pet.

As she 'scooted' closer, David put his arm back around Selene's shoulders but, instead of putting the hand on her shoulder, he put it on her upper arm, taking Kayla's action as a sign.

"I don't know I'm the only animal working there an I think that's cos of my dad's contacts. See Sandy's at the university an he's living on campus and that's in town where I'd have to be leashed all the time even if I was allowed in the dorms so ... oh did I tell you my dad's a vet and Sandy's his cub and that's why dad knows people at the zoo, right? So I'm staying there and cleaning cages and stuff they wanted me to work at the reptile house 'cos that's what I did for dad... dad and Mrs Walton she doesn't like me calling her mom... they do wildlife rescue. So anyway the snakes here went all crazy when I showed up 'cos they thought I was a mongoose now do I look like a mongoose to you they're not even related! But you know that you're a mustelid too and where was I? Oh yes the zoo I got put on small mammal cages so I got to clean up after the mongooses and they're real mean 'cos the story about the snake thinking I was a mongoose is all over the zoo. I'm also supposed to do my native animal show for the kids but yesterday was my first day cos I just got here did I say that already? ANYWAY they don't have that set up yet. Do you do any acting?"

After a moment he looks around guiltily.

"I'm not prejudiced against viverrids OK it's just the mongooses are being mean the meerkats at the African exhibit are pretty cool."

"Oh it's a nature show they don't want animals talking that would ruin the illusion that we're dumb beasts I mean they know we can talk but I think they think we've got our own languages and stuff."

He stops to think, then dangles over the edge of the cupola again.

"Hey do any of you know any animal languages I mean we musta had our own languages at some time don't you reckon 'cos even humans do that! But who wants to use a language that's got forty seven words for "mud" and no word for "internet" I mean really. Even the wild animals I know speak human!"

Okay, I could do that. Alphabites thought about any languages he knew or if they even had a language, I only know human English.

Yukon looked up at the martin, "Notany languages comparable to English. The wolves had a pretty in depth system of speech though, back in Canada. It consisted of mostly barks and whines and howls though. We probably had our own speech a long time ago though."

"That... that actually makes sense... you know 'cos it'd carry a long way 'cos wolves and dogs have those loud howly voices but that's not something most animals can do I mean listen to this!"

Cinnamon throws his head back and makes squeaky shouty chirpy noises.

"See what I mean pitiful just pitiful."

It doesn't seem to bother him. At least not until a bird starts squawking back from the trees. He makes a frantic careless swing through the window and skids across the dirty floor of the loft.

"HEY! ALPHA! COME ON IN THOSE BIRDS ARE CRAZY! Ow. Splinters."

Rosal held back his laughter at the pine marten. Regaining his composure, he sighed, "That's better than cats, as for some reason I can sing, but not caterwaul. It sounds so bad I don't have the heart to subject this fine evening to THAT horrible display."
