xhunterko wrote:"The council is waiting for you now," said the guard on the left, "Please follow us." And with that, they started to walk to the woods.

"Alright, I like getting things over with as quick as possible." Lance said as he followed the guard into the woods beyond.

After a little ways the pandas stopped and turned around. One produced a blind fold.

"Eh hem, now, you don't have to, but, if you don't mind, and we'll guide you by the paw, but," one said, "It is a secrecy meeting."

"It's...wonderful. In my religion, it's all about politics, fights, bloodshed guilds and abstruse parables. You get punished for *everything*. That's why I became a tech wiz, I trust machines, I trust what I can touch and sense. I'm sure it would've been different, had I known your myths earlier in my life."

"Heh, maybe, but," Mitch said, then his tone turned serious, "Our ancestors where given this way because we couldn't understand something simpler. We respect all beliefs, and our ancestors do as well. IF your God is jealous as you say he is, don't leave off following him for our ancestors. They won't like it. And they may even tell your God that you've abandoned him so he can punish you for it. They're like that."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Eh, they've a big dog with them now, so they won't be too hard to follow," Cello said, finishing the last of the splinters, "There you are." Then Zhang got out some cloth strips and began to bandage Mikey's paw.

"I'll take your word for it. I--" then her nose caught a new, familiar scent. She turned. "Oi! Ain't that Lance? Why is he being escorted here?"

Tara danced for a few more seconds as she continued to smile at Paige, the feline swiftly closing the distance between the two of them before she stopped nearly nose to nose with male.

“Yes and no. My dads are choreographers, so they've always helped me, but I learned most of what I know from watching the ghawazi in Egypt while my dads were doing volunteer work. Now they're looking to open up a dance studio here in town. You should come by sometime.” This last she said before tapping Paige lightly on the nose before twirling back a step or two, her green eyes shining.

Mikey nodded at Cello's words, knowing that if it were him he would have lost the group in a heartbeat. Speaking of which, where did they go? Not that it really mattered, after all he wasn't the one trying to ferret out secrets. The dog was curious about one thing though.

“Has your village been here for a long time? To be honest I didn't know ferals built villages. Do you guys have like your own houses and stuff?”

"Heh heh yes we do," Cello said, "Sadly though, we've been here less then a year and our village caught fire!"

"Yeah, fortunately some ancient ruins were found that helped put out the fire, albeit causing a new lake to begin with," Zhang said, "Ya wanna see?"

“I'm sorry. I hope all of your pack made it out alright.”

Mikey flexed his paw. Without the splinters in it he felt a lot better, and Zhang was doing an excellent job bandaging it. All in all the dog felt like he was up for a little adventure.

“Sounds like fun; I'd love to see it. Besides, if I stuck around here Tara would just rope me into showing off for the other pets around here.” Mikey gave a large smile to the pandas. “Just lead the way.”

Zhang finished his bandage.

"That should do it, now be careful with that as we climb down," Zhang said, "And just careful in general."

"Don't mind him, his new fancy is medicine," Cello said, climbing down as well.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At the edge of the park, away from the pets and pandas, a bear stood watching. Staying in the brush.

Lance nodded taking the Blindfold and wrapping it around his head "Right, I get you." He adjusted it a bit making sure it blinded him completely and tied it tight in the back. "Alright I think that should be good enough. Lets go." He said reaching down a bit blindly for a paw to take.

"Thank you sir," said one, and then they each took one paw. They lead him north a bit, a few steps east, a few steps south, a few steps west, a little over in each direction again. Then they walked purposefully, to the chapel, up the stairs up a chair, then onto a table. Then his blindfold was removed, and he was standing in the center of a table, with a chair behind him, 6 members of the secrecy council looking at him. Plus, the chieftain and his wife facing him.

"You may know where you are, but for our benefit, if you would, pretend you do not," Benjamin said to him, "If you may please be seated and we'll get started." Around the table, panda faces were giving him all sorts of looks already.

“I told ya, I'm always careful. I just don't handle surprises well...

Mikey's tail tucked between his legs for a moment, and his ears would have been flat against his skull were they not naturally that way in the first place. Flexing his paw one more time however the dalmatian knew he wasn't clumsy or anything, he just didn't see everything all the time. As if to prove his own skill to himself the dog decided to take the most expedition manner down the tree. And with that, he jumped.

There was nothing like the feeling of weightlessness while in mid-air, and sometimes Mikey envied birds and their freedom to roam the sky. Still, he had never seen a bird do what he did, and with practiced ease the dog landed of a springy branch, back-flipping off of it while turning in midair so that he could tuck his body into a roll. Landing on the grass the dog rolled forward, springing onto his feet with surprising grace.

“See, a non-careful dog would have seriously hurt himself trying to do that.” Mikey gave a beaming smile before taking a step forward and... falling flat on his face, his muzzle thudding against the grass.

“Hey, who put that rock there...?”

At that answer, Belisarius rapped his own skull with a pained expression. "Not a wolf, not a wolf, not a wolf, stupid wolf!" then, to Will, "I mean your...circle, your association, your club..." he exhaled with frustration. "What do you call it when you have mate and friends in a hierarchy and it's not a wolf pack?!"

The pandas picked up the poor dog and brushed him off.

"There, no harm done," Cello said, "Now come on, before we're spotted." And they headed into the woods.

"Do you smell something?" Zhang asked, sniffing.

"Nah, probably nothing," Cello said.

Tara could see the effect she was having on Paige, but she couldn't help teasing the cute male just a little. Besides he seemed to be taking her playfulness quite well for a male, and Tara decided then and there that she would most definitely make Paige her first friend in the neighborhood.

“Well, I'm pretty sure bad is probably whipping the contractor over the flooring mishap, so it will probably only be a week until everything is ready. That's just the dance studio though; the rest of our house is pretty much set up, and my dads love having other pets over.”
---------------------------------
“That... doesn't normally happen...?”

Mikey clicked his claws together as he worked hard not to look at the two pandas, his cheeks tinged red through his white fur with embarrassment. Still Cello and Zhang were nice enough to overlook the dog's failure at trying to show off just a bit, and soon enough a smile was back on the male's muzzle. Mikey was able to keep up with the pandas without too much difficulty, but he paused for a moment as they sniffed the air.

“I can't smell anything,” the dog said with a curious look. To him everything seemed normal, but then again it would be hard to tell if a scent was out of place when one had just moved into a neighborhood and everything smelled new.

"Not far from now, just a little ways," Cello says.

"We'd go by the trees, but not with that paw," Zhang said.

Belisarius blinked as he reflected on that. "Soo..you don't plan your activities, don't you?"
It was then that Borues walked out of the woods on all fours silently. He walked up behind Belisarius and looked at Will. He got down on his "knees" to make eye level with him.

Borues spoke in a quiet, friendly tone.

"Hello small creature, I see you are new in my woods," he said, "What do they call you?"

Mikey gave the softest of whimpers. "I'm sorry for slowing you guys down." Sometimes the dog hated how he always seemed to be tripping over things, even if nine times out of ten he managed to land on his feet. It was a wonder how a dog so naturally graceful could manage to wrack up the number of injuries Mikey accumulated. The dog pressed on all the same though, for in truth he was eager to see this feral village.

"Well then, I would love the chance to come over. I'd just have to ask Dad." Paige thought to what his dad was doing at the moment. He was probably helping Sam finish catching up on some homework- the boy was in First Grade now. "So, what kind of dancing do your parents teach? I'm not quite sure I'd make the greatest belly dancer."

"The most planning I've s-seen is a day in advance." Will gave a light shrug as he pondered this. "M-maybe it would be good too p-plan something bigger, for once."

He was broken from his thought when he heard a voice not from the wolf he had been conversing with.

"GAH!" Will jumped back as, once again, he was surprised by a new voice. The pet- er, animal, he guessed, he couldn't just assume every animal was a pet- in front of him seemed to be a bear, but he couldn't bring the type to the top of his- wait, Grizzly, that seemed correct. "Oh, M-my name is W-will. Will T-turner."

The grizzly bear chuckled a bit.

"Human's have odd curiosities don't they?" He said. Then he stood up to his full height, seeing the creature was braver then he thought.

"And my name, is Borues," he said, "Three days east, west, and south, and four days north in these woods are mine. And you are most welcome in them. It is a pleasure to meet your acquaintance."

Tara moved back towards the tree, sitting down with her back against it and bringing on long leg up against her chest. With her paw the feline patted the ground beside her.

“Come sit with me sugga, I promise I wont bite.” Tara gave Paige a soft smile this time, one with no teasing behind it as slowly her eyes drifted to the sky.

“Let me think now. Jason does a lot of hip-hop and pop stuff, along with some freestyle and contemporary. Shaun on the other hand focuses on the more traditional dances like the tango, samba, and the foxtrot. It’s really funny to watch them dance together sometimes, since most hip hop stuff is done solo whereas Shaun likes to sweep Jason off his feet into a jive.”

The feline's smile had drifted into a dreamy one, her eyes going unfocused for a moment as she thought back to the last time she had watched her dads dance just for the fun of it. Snapping back into reality Tara looked at Paige once more.

“What about you sugga? Tell me about yourself.”

"Firstly, character," Benjamin said, "Tarzone'?"

"A friend and you are stranded in a boat," a panda said, "There is a single bottle of wine between you to drink. How do you handle this?" Two pandas behind Lance whispered to each other quietly. Benjamin looked at Lance.

Lance thought for a moment "Hmmm, well obviously I would ration out the wine the best I could between the two of us." He shifted slightly in the chair and added "Then I would take off the label and use it to write a message on if we had anything to write with, put it in the bottle and throw the bottle into the sea in a hopes of someone finding it and being rescued."

(OOC: I hope that's a good answer because its basically what I would logically do in such a situation. Also I'm almost positive wine (or any kind of alcohol for that matter) is not really good for hydration so we would be pretty screwed anyway )

ooc: The pandas are merely looking for how Lance behaves, as a judgement on how well he can be trusted. How he answers is more important then what he answers with.

"You are sharing a cell with an acquaintance. It is cold and you have thin blankets that do not behave right, he sleeps on his back," an elderly female says, "You cannot sleep for some reason tonight, and his blanket just happens to fall half way off his body, exposing his legs and his money sack on his belt! Yet you hear someone whistling. The constables are as crooked as the crooks. Or it could be the murderous smiling Jack. He likes to punish the bad luck prisoners. You don't know. You can't know. How do you handle this situation?" A couple pandas behind Lance on his right whisper about him, audibly mentioning his name. Another coughs.

The head who asked that question nodded, then all the heads nodded at once in intervals, and then made a quick, short bow.

"Thank you, you have done very well, and thank you to our guests as well, you've been most patient," Benjamin said, "However, considering our situation, and the tenacity of our enemy, we must question everyone. Now, Lance, if you would, would you please recite your adventure you took with my son on your camping trip together a short time ago and what you found there. If you please. Also, you may relax now."

The feline's smile had drifted into a dreamy one, her eyes going unfocused for a moment as she thought back to the last time she had watched her dads dance just for the fun of it. Snapping back into reality Tara looked at Paige once more.

“What about you sugga? Tell me about yourself.”
Paige smiled in kind as he leaned back against the tree. "Well, I guess you could say I'm a bit of a dreamer." He replied, looking up at the sky. "My one goal in life is to go into space. I stargaze every night, enough so that he's considered building a skylight on multiple occasions, so I don't 'recklessly endanger myself in high places.'"

Here he chuckled at the thought of his family. "I'm from an... odd family dynamic, I guess. There's my Dad, Randy, who has been studying law; His son, Sam, who recently started First grade; Sam's pet, Will, who..." Here he stopped a moment, and gave a small shiver, "came from unfortunate circumstances that I don't like thinking about."

His smile faltered for only a moment, but came back as he continued. "The reason it's odd is because of how we were adopted. Most owners in a pet-friendly environment think of their pets as children, but Randy has an actual child, which kinda makes us brothers. However, Will is actually Sam's pet, not Randy's, so Will calls Sam 'Dad' and me 'uncle.'" Here he gave another chuckle. "He's even called Randy 'grandpa' on a couple of occasions. His reaction is always fun to see."

"Good to meet you as well," Borues said, then he pointed to Tara and Paige, "Now if you will, would you mind introducing me to those two?"

Tara looked up at the sky, trying to imagine what it might be like to actually go up into space. Sure the female liked being up in the air, and acrobatics were a lot of fun, but being all the way up there? Tara looked back at Paige, giving the feline a look somewhere between admiration and befuddlement.

“Well sugga I’m sure if there’s a way to get you up there you’ll find it.”

Tara continued to listen to Paige’s story, her eyes shifting from concern over this Will character to mirth thinking about what it would be like to call Shaun, or especially Jason, grandpa. A soft chuckle escaped her muzzle at the very thought.

“Sounds like you got yourself an interesting family; now I wish my Dad’s had a son or daughter just so I could call Jason gramps. Alas it’s just me and my brother. Speaking of which, where is that dog…?”

Tara gave a quick scan around the park, but besides some other pets and (was that a bear?) her brother was nowhere to be found. The feline gave a heavy sigh, her ears flattening against her skull. Just her luck, that tom-fool Dalmatian had probably gotten himself lost… again.

"Oh boy alright this might be a long one." Lance said as he relaxed and got ready to tell the story of that trip. "Well we had found a cave on the second day there and decided to explore it. Mostly it was just a pretty long corridor with some nice looking stones in the walls. So really for a while it was pretty, but rather uneventful." He leaned forward slightly and continued "After a while of walking and trying to remember were we were going, the group and I came up to a large lake with two statues near it."

Lance shifted slightly and sat back "We explored around the like when, I believe it was Val; hes the wolfdog that was with us when the forest flooded by the way, dove down into the lake and found a bunch of skulls and bones in the water. He came up quick after that and we decided to get out of their pretty quick after that little discovery." He said shivering a bit at the mention of the grave in the lake.

(OOC: Ok that's part of it I know its kind of a rather quick and dirty retelling of the events but I wanted it to be that way (also its really late here so I might have forgotten something). Was there anything important I missed? I can add it in later with an edit before your next post Xhunter)

ooc: or we could do it naturally. :)

Benjamin nodded.

"Your group also found a second tunnel next to it," he said, "Could you describe what you remember from that?"

The trip wasn't that long, though Cello was a tad upset about not going in the trees, but Zhang would have none of it. They emerged into the villages clearing.

"Well, here we are," Zhang said with a hand out, "Not much to look at but it's enough for now."

"Hey, hold still, I think you have something on your lip," Mitch said to Rikki, then he went in and snatched a kiss.

Will turned toward where Borues was pointing, and tilted his head slightly. "I c-could.... but, I only kn-know one of them..."

Paige once again blushed lightly at Tara's encouragement, and started to reply as he followed her gaze. "Hey, if you need me to help look for him, I'm will is talking to a panda?" His eyes widened as he saw his brother with both the bear from earlier, and a panda. He then gave Will a big smile. "Hey, he talked to another animal without looking to me for comfort first. Good on him." Looking back to Tara, he continued, "Anyway, yeah, I'm okay with helping you look for him."

There was a feral bear in the middle of the park. Many cats would have been halfway up the nearest tree the moment they noticed that. Tara well... she wondered if it wanted to learn how to dance.

“That's alright sugga, I mean how much trouble can he get into in a pet-friendly neighborhood? Besides, dad had a GPS marker installed into Mikey's collar after he got lost at the Marrakech Souk.”

Tara looked back over at the bear who seemed to be conversing with two other pets. Cocking her head the feline gave a sly smile, her eyes glinting with that familiar shine of mischief.

“So, which one is you nephew old man?” Tara asked sweetly.

Paige smirked as he replied, in a slightly croaky voice, "Children these days, no respect for their elders, I swear." Looking once again towards the distance, he pointed Will out. "He's the Mink," he answered, returning his voice to normal, "the one that you can see shivering from all the way over here."

"Ah, yeah that tunnel, there isn't a whole lot to tell there since it was getting rather late at the time and we kind of wanted to go back and get supplies to explore the place better. There was another pool but this one was empty with some stairs leading down into it. However as I said, we didn't get any more into it at the time as I, and most of the group, felt it was to risky to go there without any more equipment. Or telling our families what was happening for that matter." Lance said
