Borues nodded towards the village.

"Them pandas. Their relatives arrived today, and that means state arrival ceremony. Now I could smell them a few miles off. So I expected the pandas to come calling. I am the master and owner of these woods and this is MY territory, so it would not be too presumptuous to give your landlord a call for these events. Would it not? Well they didn't, probably didn't respect my authority, little upstarts. So, I have a little plan," he said, rubbing his paws together, speaking quietly, "I've learned of their little jaunt through the woods and have learned of their routes. I've taken the liberty of rigging a little prank trap for them. Now it's fun if one goes off and all. But if another goes off when they're trying to scurry away all messy and in a panic? That would be better." He then walked to Winnifred's side and placed their faces next to each other and made a mournful, pleading face.

"But I can't do it alone," he said, "Now can I? Also, that upstart royal? He likes to go North rather than south. If his fiance' stays out of our way and doesn't stop him. And that's where my traps are. Interrrested???"

Winnifred moved away from the bear.
Just because they didn't invite you to a ceremony, you want to get back at them with pranks? Whats wrong with asking them formally to allow you to attend? Winni asked, not pointing out the hypocritical points in his behavior.

"A gang of uninvited teenagers have a party on your front lawn and your going to complain to them that they didn't invite you?" Borues said to her.

You said you expected them to call you, but they didn't. That means you wanted to go to the party. Why lay the prank if not? Winni asked.
And if you haven't smelled around, I'm pretty sure the village does not belong to you. Think of it this way. Its an entire city, all belonging to you, yet some people move into one house in that city to start a new life. Are you going to kick them out? Winni asks. She then begins walking back to the village.
That doesn't matter. If I smell any of your traps, I will call local authorities to escort you off our front lawn. she finished as she walked away.

"Awlrigh'. Do you wanna go firs' den, Will? A-as in, yer can pick da firs' fing fer us t' guess?" Chris invites.

--------------------
Scotty follows after the pandas but soon runs into a problem when he reaches the threshold. Unable to lift his chair over the small step into the house, he types on his tablet again, hoping the pandas disappearing into the house are still close enough to hear.
"Er... Could you give me a paw please? I can't get over the step..."

Inside the house, Frances accepts the offer of the cookies.
"Thank you. I'm sure Scotty will love them." She follows Elio through to the living room.
"I love what you've done with the place. Very classy." she compliments, seating herself opposite Elio.
"I don't play piano, sorry. My mother did try to make me learn violin though but I hated it enough that I 'accidentally' tripped and broke the bow. She never tried to make me learn an instrument again after that." Frances giggles at the memory.
"I did take singing lessons though but I never felt I was any good. Mom thought I was but then moms are supposed to say that, aren't they? How about you? Are you musical?"

"Oh, uh, s-sure." Will closed his eyes in thought as he tried to think of a suitable object. After a few moments his eyes lit up as one came to him. "O-okay, I'm ready."

"Heh, that's a trick question, usually depends on how you view your older sibling," Ellsward said, cringing, receiving a shoulder punch from Fellsward.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The two pandas turned to Scotty thinking. Then Sonjah turned to the house

"Hey ma'am? Scotty can't get over the steps and we're too small to lift him over," she said to anyone within earshot, "Can you help?"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mitch headed towards the palace quickly, eyes toward the ground, in a sour mood. Missing mostly everything that was going on in front of him...

"You know, come to think of it, Scotty isn't half bad on piano. After... his injury," Frances' hand once again goes to the ring hanging from her neck. "He decided that he wanted to keep his mind active since he couldn't keep his body as active any more so he taught himself a bit of piano. I was surprised how quickly he picked it up, actually. He has a keyboard he uses since pianos tend to be a bit high for his chair. Oh, excuse me a moment." Frances crosses to the front door and helps Scotty in.
"You guys coming in too? Need a hand lifting the wagon in?" she queries.

"Everybody, this is Valiant Leone! And he'll make a great addiction to the Palatinium Pack."
Valiant was easily sitting onto Belisarius' shoulder, like an overgrown pup, his left arm holding against the strong neck. The cop in him had hoped this could be a more...formal meeting, but what the heck, he was too happy to be with his mate again. After being dumped the first time here at Sunset, he had suffered a major case of the separation anxiety, and had to keep it in check from everyone...
Valiant waved his bionic arm to the wolves of the Palatinium, seeing for the first time that Belisarius wasn't joking, he really was an average guy here.
Okay okay okay Val hold yourself, don't go all fanpup over these wonderful studs ACK NO! and don't drool either oh mama are those two big boys engaged this is so COOL...
Valiant decided to climb down Bel, and walked to the pack with deference as he had been told. First he went to the alphas. "Cesar. Amadora." He instinctively offered paw, but then he saw them raising tails, and knew what was expcted of him.
He mentally sighed: Belisarius *had* told him that pawshake wasn't a proper greeting in this case...
He wondered absently how Mitch and Rikki were doing right now...

"Look who's decided to join us after all." The young woman indicates the pet and pandas as Scotty smiles and waves at Elio.

Cinzia came back at that moment with an old fashioned cart with a coffee moka, cups, platters, cutlery and an assortment of cakes that could have easily served a small regiment. "We were talking about having a lovely coffee, dear." She took the moka and filled a cup before giving it to Frances. "Real Italian espresso, not that broth they serve here. No offense meant. Sugar? Oh, and yes, there's a slice of cake for you as well, young rascals," she added to the pandas

"Thank you ma'am," the two said together.

Mitch kept walking. Eyes to the ground. Thinking desperately. Not watching where he was going and BOOF! Right into a builder with a plank or two.

"Oi sorry sir sorry, busy, uh, sir you all right?" He asked tentatively. Mitch lay flat on his back. Partially knocked unconscious!

"No, thank you. I like my coffee strong." Frances accepts the cup and sips the potent brew appreciatively.
"Ooh. Mmm. Wow. I never had any idea coffee could taste like that! That is amazing! Hod did you do it?"
Scotty pretends to sulk and look hurt when Cinzia offers the pandas cake and not him and he points at himself enquiringly before shrugging and turning up his nose as though he never really wanted the cake anyway. Frances would like to scold him but she's too busy smothering her giggles at the act. She hopes Cinzia will play along.

Cinzia poured her husband the second cup. "Oh, thank you. That's easy: you fill the moka base with water, put coffee powder into the steel filter, add gas and fatto! I'll teach you how to make coffee sugar, if you want, but first..." She cut a slife of an apple cake with apple slice over it, revealing the filling and the aroma of banana cream with vanilla! "Elio's favorite pie goes to my favorite guest here."
Elio almost broke into tears. "You never even gave that to our son or his ragazzo."
Cinzia took a fork from the cart and put it on the platter near the cake. "Well, then you need to turn into a glamorous kitty first."

The poor builder thought he best get out of the situation before Mitch got up and left the royals and themselves to the wolves. Mitch opened his eyes shortly afterward. He blinked a few times, staring up at Rikki.

"Oi love, what day is it? Is it Forthesday yet?" He asked. Forthesday being a half way point between the summer and fall new moons, and about half way to their wedding day.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vinnie ignored the cat and eagerly took another piece. Sonjah, who, having not finishing her's, cut the piece that she bit and apologetically handing the rest to Scotty.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Can you eat it then?" Fellsward asked.

"Thank you!" types Scotty before accepting the cake from Cinzia and politely turning down the cake from Sonjah, knowing that he'd never fit both slices after his huge breakfast.

"Your son is quite the social kid," Cinzia sighed. "Poor Valiant took ages before opening up to anyone. moving here was the best thing we could do for him, though I do miss my paese." then she proceeded to demonstrate Frances what she meant about 'coffee sugar'. She took a clean cup, and poured a modicum of coffee in it. "Then you take spoonfuls of sugar, like this," and she dropped them into the coffee until there was more sugar than the beverage. "And you proceed to stir, like this, until you have a sort of whipped cream entirely made of coffee-flavored sugar, like this." she showed Frances the result. "Excellent to add flavors to other sweets or beverages.

arrigh' = all right

"Huh. Coffee sugar. Clever. I'll totally have to try that if I can find a recipe to use it in... I wonder how it'd taste on waffles... But yeah, Scotty's always been friendly an sociable. I'm surprised he's bounced back as well as he did considering... what happened..." Frances' hand unconsciously goes to the ring hanging from her neck yet again.
Scotty passes the tablet to Vinnie with a smile and a nod to indicate that he should go first and concentrates on his cake for a while.
"Why, thank you for the invitation. We'd love to come along!" On hearing the invitation and Frances' acceptance, Scotty feels the need to butt in. Pulling a small notebook and pen from his bum bag, he scrawls a note and proffers it to Cinzia, hoping she'll be able to read his pawwriting.
"We don't have grill Sundays. When Frances tries to make them they turn into charcoal chuck-aways and we end up getting take-out." the note reads. Frances sees the cheeky grin which the cat tries to hide by shovelling a forkful of cake into his mouth.
"What? What did he write? He's being cheeky, isn't he?" she queries.

Hlaoroo wrote:"Huh.
Cinzia lifted her eyes from the note. "Well, in a way. But don't worry: everyone tends to burn their meals the first times with a grill. I had to start since I was a child to learn to do ragù in a proper way."
"By the way, if you needed to talk about your...accident," Elio said, his manners more formal as he leaned forward with a sympathetic look. "Feel free to, anytime. I worked as a counselor for my parrocchia to help the families of the mafia victims. Padre Cerruti said I was good at that."

Frances nods, staring at the floor by her feet for a few moments.
"Thank you... Maybe some day we'll take you up on that..." She takes another sip of her coffee reflectively.
"Mrs. Leone... If it's not too much trouble, do you think sometime you could maybe give me a few cooking lessons, please. I've always wanted to learn to cook better and I'm sure Scotty would appreciate me picking up a few tips and tricks too and your cooking is amazing, if this is anything to go by! I could perhaps help you publish a recipe book in return. I am an author, you know."
This time it's the cat's turn to giggle as his name is mentioned and he nods in agreement that yes, Frances does need some lessons.
