I don't know who's doing that but they're wrong. :( You're NOT a dime a dozen. No one is.

Sorry to hear all this, though. But don't forget, Cinderella was in the same position and look what came of that.

well, in everyone has aspects that are a dime a dozen, but as a whole we're worth much more than a dime, and our unique combination is not shared by a dozen others.

Actually we are fairly interchangeable, we just all have a unique combination of various dime a dozen archetypes.
No you aren't special, but yes you are an individual.

Joy/Sorrow: I had to talk to one of the managers at work about lowering my work hours. I was working so much that it was infringing on other, more important things. If my schedule is around 25 hours a week that be great. As long as I can pay for my gas, I'm okay.

Joy: Mister Rogers.

Sorrow: Not everyone hears his message.

"You always make each day such a special day. You know how--by just your being yourself. There's only one person in the whole world like you, and people can like you exactly as you are."

His grandfather told him that, and it stayed with him the rest of his life, so that he said that at the end of every episode of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood.

Sorrow: My mum confessed that she doesn't really know me anymore, and that I've changed into a completely different person.

I've always known that this is true, and I've definitely changed for the worse for the past 4 years, but hearing this from her breaks my heart a bit *sigh*

At the risk of sounding arrogant, you're going to change during the course of your life, and whether or not that's better is all relative.

Hopefully you can make some kind of peace with whatever it is that's changing.

SORROW: Had to go to the place I work on my day off to take a class about selling alcohol to people. I'll summarize what I learned: Don't sell beer to minors, or the drunk guy that stumbles through the store. :P

JOY: The class was short and easy, and we had to watch video demonstrations of drunk people and minors trying to buy beer. They were hilarious!

Joy:

The day was coming close to being over with.

I was in my multimedia class, working on the yearbook, and I asked the professor to play some music.
She plugged in her iPhone and started to play Pandora Radio.
A few songs later, Richard said, "I've heard this song like a thousand times."
The professor said, "It's the song that is played a lot when people dance 'The Shag.'"

For those of you who don't know, "The Shag" is the South Carolina State Dance.
Why we need a State Dance, I don't know.
Also, the name of the dance has nothing to do with the sexual term.

Anyway, we were all talking and Richard tells us a story about his dad.
He said that when his dad was in college, he walked up to this British girl at a party.
They start talking and his dad asks, "Do you know how to Shag?"
She slaps him in the face and leaves.

After hearing this, I almost died laughing.
He said that his dad didn't really think before he asked her that, but I know his dad and I think that he might have known exactly what he was asking.
