Pencil/inking pen, or charcoal. I'm learning to use digital, but I'm not good enough at it yet to say it's my preferred. Especially considering I still do my webcomic traditionally.

Kidneys.
It's kind of hard to prefer a medium, since they all can be used to make good work. It's like a mechanic choosing his favorite tool. As for my proficiency, it's probably pencil, but I'm pretty hopeless at visual art with anything.

Re: Prefered Art Medium
I don't really agree with that. You can prefer what you work with, and use one more than the other in art. Art mediums aren't like tools in the sense that you can use any of them you want; you're not restricted to a specific tool to complete a certain task. As such, there can be preferences.Sleet wrote:Kidneys.

Re: Prefered Art Medium
I was interpreting it as "best" rather than just personal preference.
If we're not worrying about actual skill, I'm probably most comfortable with digital.

Well, I guess "preferred" can be interpreted multiple ways. I interpret it here as "which one you enjoy using the most".Sleet wrote:I was interpreting it as "best" rather than just personal preference.

Re: Prefered Art Medium
Hm, my options are a bit limited, since I only use Pencil and Digital...
I guess I will pick Pencil, since I almost can't draw anything with Digital alone. (I don't have a tablet...) But my preferred tool might switch to Digital, if I ever get a tablet.

Pen/Ink is the one I use. I would love to be able to paint and use wood for art but I am not that talented.

Pencil. I suck at drawing witha mouse, so until I get a tablet, digital is second.

Come to think of it, I'd probably be better with clay than I am with a pencil. It seems easier to tweak.

I draw in pencil, ink and colour in photoshop.
Re: Prefered Art Medium
I personaly prefer photography.
Some people say that photography is not an art. But you can also make artistic photos, not only traditional. For example, I'm planning to rent an atelier and do "painting by light". I will have to make the entire room dark and set up snapshot for a long timing. While the snapshot is open, I can make a "drawing" with a light coming from torch. Other posibility is to use a torch to do something with people - for example make half face of a woman, and half face of a man.
Also one day I would like to try to make a photo by using a "Technique of Wet Collodium".
But in traditional art, I prefer drawing with pencil than painting. In my opinion it shows more contrast.

Re: Prefered Art Medium
I have some trouble believing that you've used either of those enough to justify them being your "preferred" medium. They're both extensive and, at times, complicated enough to warrant some pretty heavy machinery, and, considering your age, I find it hard to believe that your experience with them is large in quantity. I'm in college, as an art major, and I've done very little woodwork, and even less metalwork.sonic id furreh!!! wrote:paint, pencil, inking pen, metal, wood :3
I could be wrong, though.

I still wouldn't consider that extensive enough. The metalwork and and woodwork I see in my lectures is far more complicated than that.yoyodude wrote:Toothpicks and soder wire? and the wood i'm not sure what your thinking about but for me their small statue items the biggest i would bother with is about the size of my forearm

I actually have some experience with metalworking, albeit industrial metalworking and not artistic. I'd be interested in learning more if I didn't hate getting greasy.
