Is Google alien to you? They're a metal band (yeah i know they're meant to be progressive or whatever, but i have my own rant on the usage of 'progressive' so let's not go into that). I hate reading Wikipedia. I just wanted a short answer, and I got one. Now to look them up on YouTube. If I find a song of theirs that I like, I'll post it.Ebly wrote:Is Google alien to you? Edit: Well, Wither is okay.
Edit 2: And Forsaken is pretty good.

Re: Music.
"Metal" is still correct, considering you don't have to use modifiers. "Rock" would also have been correct, as would be "blues-originated pop music" or "Western music." I just say a group is "progressive" if they say they are. It's not a very well-defined term.Ebly wrote:Is Google alien to you? Misunderstood
I'd post "As I Am" too but out of all their family-appropriate discography, they just had to drop an F-bomb on this song...
Considering most of the drummers in the world who I wouldn't look at you crazy for if you said they were as good as/better than Mike Portnoy are already in bands, I think that goes without saying. But he (or she? It's 2010; who knows) can still be good.Dubiousity wrote:Doubt he'll be as good as Portney.Sleet wrote:Oh man you guys. Dream Theater will be announcing their new drummer this month. If this whole time Jon Theodore knew how to play metal and turns out to be the new drummer, I'd pretty much wet myself. Other than that, I'm pretty sure whoever it is will be someone none of us has ever heard of, let alone hold in high regard.

Yeah, I've never heard of Dream Theater. I usually only listen to My favorite genres are punk and some emo (I have all kinds of music that's why I felt I needed to edit). What's their number one hit?

Try number 10. 18 years ago.
Though Rock Band players might recognize this or this (though that's a shortened single version). The two links I posted earlier are my suggestions though.

Man, I have now just discovered the band Helmet, they're really cool, I like them. They remind me of Tool and Primus together kinda. I atleast think they're like Tool in this music video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3a8Ow-DoAw Any other Helmet fans? So far, I like the songs Milquetoast, Wilma's Rainbow and Birth Defect.

If you want to cut it even further I'd say nothing after The Wall. Those five albums are the best in my opinion. I'd say Dark Side of the Moon > The Wall > Wish You Were Here > Meddle > Animals.

Pink Floyd is one of the few bands most of my main group of high school friends can agree on. That and Queen. Especially Queen.

Re: Music.
One of the biggest small world coincidences of my life was last summer when my pastor mentioned overhearing some people in canoes singing what he said sounded like show tunes in some river like an hour and a half away from my town. It was me and my friends singing Don't Stop Me Now. XP

You wonder why this song makes me think of Warren and me.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msumWLbq1Dk
I look around me, but all I seem to see
Is people going nowhere, expecting sympathy.
It's like we're going through the motions,
Of a scripted destiny,
Tell me where's our inspiration,
If life won't wait, I guess it's up to me.
Whoa! No, we're not gonna waste another moment in this town.
Whoa! And we won't come back, the world is calling out.
Whoa! We'll leave the past in the past, gonna find the future.
If misery loves company, well so long, you'll miss me when I'm gone.
(I hate how you can't copypaste lyrics for some reason)
