I love Rock and Country, but here is where you will be confused, I love Gangstagrass, a mix of Hip Hop and Bluegrass
Listening to Showin' Me Love by Gangstagrass right now, look it up on youtube, and prepare to be confused

I get "okay, okay, I get it, you don't have to tell me your life story" a lot.Coop wrote:Excuse the question, but ain't that mighty annoying? I also enjoy most of the music there exists (a travel through my music library is a magic journey from Techno to Rock, from Classical to Reggeaton to Rap to Military Parades) but, even if saying "meh, I like pretty much everything" is annoying wouldn't it be worse to go on a detailed description of the multitude of genres you enjoy? I find it better to answer with a simple "I enjoy lots of music, mainly prefer rock though" or something similar.
If I'm forced at gunpoint to summarize, I would say I enjoy more along... the lines of slow alternative rock and that lovely wishy-washy acoustic music but I know very little about it; I'm far more involved in electronic genres. It's a pretty surefire favourite if you can magically combine the romantic nature of slow acoustic music with the exploration of sound and noise that technology presents to us. Trip-hop?
Besides, my attitude tends to be more experimental - I go after weirdness for the sake thereof. I actively collect music I don't enjoy, along with that which I do. I end up going "oh this sounds horrible/weird/wonderful, i must have it it is insane".

This is why I'm not a composer. I can't remember when I wrote it, but it was most likely just shy of two years ago. Some modifications were made a few months after that (I resolved the final chord for all you people that like that kind of thing).

Still like the fact that both of us play majorly with down-strokes. <3
Other than that, great playing. Aside from the little errors here and there, t'was good. :>

Wow, I have too much free time. Well, if you like classical (especially Romantic era), you'll probably like most of that. =D
I love you all. Though I'd like to add Mahler, Brahms, Bruckner, Mendelssohn, Rimsky-Korakov, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, Saint-Saëns, Franck, Stravinsky (and an alternate version here =3), Sibelius, Copland, Schnittke... well, there are a lot. And I don't know if anyone is interested in more modern music, but Ligeti, Cage, Penderecki (Don't worry, it's not Threnody to the Victims of Hiroshima x3), and Ives... as well as other works works by Stravinsky and Schnittke.

Re: Music.
Ok right now I'm listening to Kansas (and not the overplayed crap), but there's a ton of other artists I love.
Ed Allenyne-Johnson - great electric violin listen to it while writing/working
Queen - who doesn't
Pendulum - best DnB ever
I Fight Dragons - good nerdy rock
The Cars - great oldies
Daft Punk - duh
Disturbed
Gaelic Storm - for that Irish heritage
Protomen - Rock Opera to Megaman
Gorillaz
Concord Dawn
and of course the Jet Set Radio Future soundtrack.
I love how my tastes are so random. If I put it all together in Pandora I think it might try to explode.

Re: Music.
I wouldn't quite go with flawless. Some of the orchestration is questionable, particularly the tacet of the actual band during the overture. But for the other seven movements where they actually played, they played it arguably better than in the studio. The solos in Goodnight Kiss and Solitary Shell blow away the studio versions, which were phenomenal enough on their own.

lol i would like to see any other band play a song that long better then they did that night, and if you listen to the version of Octavarium off of the same cd, that is even better then SDOITSleet wrote:I wouldn't quite go with flawless. Re: Music.
I didn't think James LaBrie did his best job on that one. Plus the flautist's microphone squeaked, which is sad. It was impossible to top the studio recording of that, though. Pure perfection.

Re: Music.
compared to some of their other live albums, i think Labrie did alot better then say...Live at Budakon. And the studio version of Octavarium is perfect, the live recording is about as close to perfect as you can get when playing a song like that, the only part i don't like is when LaBrie sings "trapped inside this octavarium" because his voice just gives waySleet wrote:I didn't think James LaBrie did his best job on that one. recently when I was working on a project (not comfortabel reveiling info other than that's it's in the form of a screen-play) when I decided to add this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=paZilSbbFJc to one of the scenes. After listening to it on repeat for a while, I suddenly remembered that the first strip of my extensive (20+ strips containing 8+ panels each drawn in one month, then it sorta died) comic series contained it. More specifically, I introduced the characters with them drunkenly singing a jumbled version of the lyrics to You like me too much, I've just seen a face http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbKGsEK_ ... re=related, I get around by beach boys, and life on mars by david bowie and in the end it turned out hilariously wonderful.
