Has a Movie ever made you cry?

Post by Bolly »

So I've recently been trying to overcome a fear of watching certain movies, but not because they're scary or anything. These are movies that have previously made me cry when watching them. Some of them are movies that a lot of people have cried at. Watership Down, for example, made me cry quite a lot as a young child. But others aren't so obvious. So, have you ever cried at a movie, and if so, which one was it?

- Watership Down
- The Lion King
- All Dogs go to Heaven

PS. I have recently managed to watch both The Lion King and All Dogs without a single tear. Watership Down is going to be much harder...but I'm going to try it anyway.

Sad to say, but I cry to easily when it comes to movies, every time a character dies and everyone is sad, something happens and all of a sudden I cry, it is weird. :/

So all-in-all, I cry in any movie where the main character and/or the main character's friend dies. Or those movies that it ends with, I will never see you again.

Gah...thank you for reminding me of that. I certainly can't remember crying at it but now that you've brought it up...I remember it...and it makes me want to cry even though I'm not watching it.

Didn't cry, but was quiet possible the saddest scene iv ever watched. The movie Glory with Denzel Washington where the white Union commander was shot and killed in front of all his men. was pretty intense.

I have never cried when watching a movie. I've come close sometimes, with eyes watering. Of course to be fair I can't tell whether that's an emotional connection or because I've been staring at a screen for more than an hour. Either way, I've never actually cried from a movie.

Oh no. There's no way I'm watching those.

I got through Watership Down AND The Fox and The Hound without crying. But now...they make me want to cry. I just remember the ending of The Fox and The Hound and how happy it was...when we hear them calling each other their best friends again...and with Watership Down I just remember "Bright Eyes, Burning like fire" and it makes me want to cry.

Tears of joy, mind, so I guess I'm getting somewhere.

Not quite, but almost. The ending to Marley & Me is the saddest part of any movie I have ever seen. The weird thing is, I didn't even really like that movie. Go figure.

The first 10-15 minutes of Up also make an honorable mention. "I'm going to go sit down to a zany feel-good slapstick comedy now. That's what all cartoons are, right?"

Up was just dark to me. "Oh, let's see how many times we can attempt to take everything that the protagonist loves without taking it!" I did enjoy it, don't get me wrong, but it was really dark.

I'm going to be the second to list the first Pokemon movie, and the first to mention Two Brothers. The latter movie was just terrible.

not so much crying my eyes out sadness, but the fantastic mr fox had a pretty profound effect on me.
I remember seeing the fox and the hound as a child, but don't remember any details of the plot whatsoever, only a vague feeling of deep discomfort. I think I've blocked it out.

Watership down wasn't very sad for me. Maybe its because iv already read the book and written reports all about it so it no longer has the old flare.

I admit that I too am easily brought to tears by movies but more recently.... I guess Dr Horrible's Sing Along Blog had a really sad ending. Teared up a little for that. Also the scene from Avatar (OH GOD DON'T KILL ME! D:) when they blew up the tree. Kick bubblegum had a scene that got me too. The beginning of Up was pretty sad, so was most of the movie. Stranger Than Fiction when you think the main character is dead.

But if you're talking just a list of movies there's all the ones I mentioned above plus Dragonheart ("To the stars, Bowen. To the stars" ;_; cried like a baby.), Old Yeller, E.T., The Iron Giant, The Lion King of course, Forrest Gump, Edward Scissorhands, Bambi, strangely the end of Terminator 2, any of the Lord of the Rings movies (each one has at least 1 scene)... I will have to edit more in as I think of them.

There was this movie called A Walk To Remember which I watched like a year ago. Brought me to tears instantly as the storyline was a tad heartbreaking but beautiful.

didn't cry but was very powerful. Anyone remember the scene where that one soldier i think he was called Elias was gunned down by the Vietcon in Platoon? The one where he raises his hands up into the air before dying.

Hmm...let's see...there's not really that much movies that makes me cry but All Dogs Go To Heaven almost made me cry. But there was an anime I watched called: Higurashi, When They Cry anime. At the 4th episode, it really made me cry... DX

Sorry if that wasn't a good answer for the topic.. ^^;
