I figured people would want to know the origin of my name and how I came to use it so I decided that using that avatar would be the best way to explain it and now I got another avatar which is also of said Mario enemy.

My new avatar is a different picture of the same creature my username is named after though it wasn't created about me. I can't draw and I would rather not earn as it seems too tedious to me. The original artist is credited in my signature. He gave me permission.

Thank you for the compliment. Its hard to find pictures of this Mario enemy on the internet. It is sort of annoying. But I am most known as this name so I used it. I just got to dig deeper for more Amazee Dayzee pictures on the web. I'm probably gonna end up getting more pictures from Paper Mario and Paper Mario 2 then anything...

I've been thinking of changing mine around in here and a few other places, but I'd like it to be something with a story behind it and I can't really find one with a better story than this...

My avatar is one of my family's cats who we recently adopted a few months ago. I just walked into the room, saw her lying down in a funny way, and decided to take a picture of her.

First time updating my avatar! This is Walcott's Peytoia, which, fun fact, never actually existed! The fossil discovered and Walcott classified as a Jellyfish - phylum Cnidaria - was actually the mouthpiece of Anomalocaris, the mascot of the Cambrian! The history of anomalocaris is actually very interesting, and you can learn more about it here. Attachess is the new avatar (bottom), as well as the old one (top) for reference.

It's more paleontology than just jellyfish. I make a hobby out of collecting fossils, to which I admit I'm partial to marine fossils. I was initially going to go with the name "CuriousCrinoid", for the crinoid stems I have in my collection, but decided "CuriousCnidarian" rolled off the tongue better. I initially cane to uni for a geology degree, hoping to focus on paleontology, but it never ended up working out so I dropped that to my minor and picked up business management.

Really ... well, that mirrors my life in places. When I started college in 1964, I enrolled in Geology and hoped to do paleontology. My goal was to be a dinosaur-digger, had been since I received a box of Marx PVC dinosaurs for Christmas in 1954. I still have them, by the way. My problem was that I was beguiled by many other fields and professors, the university did not have a resident paleontologist, and so I drifted into a History major instead. That eventually led to a Ph.D. in History, assisted by the Army, and a career teaching at a University - but the old fascination has never quite vanished. ;)

... and this is REALLY off topic, isn't it?
