Let's use a different system to avoid any confusion. I am 168.6121811 MHz in a vacuum.

Or we could share our weights and BMIs to determine each each person's height - but for some reason I don't think that system would be very popular. :P
Douglas isn't my real name, but because of a name block put on me by a higher-order being known as Djinni, I can't say my real name.

Boooo! Bad joke! Booo! *throws tomatoes*

I would have no idea how to measure my character. I don't have a clue at how tall a St. Bernard is standing on two feet. I think valerio is one, so guess a few inches smaller than him?

From some of the photos in the "Pictures of Yourself" thread, I would have assumed that some of you were much taller. I guess its because there is nothing to reference you against.

Pictures can always be misleading, you can be in front of or behind objects and look bigger or smaller... there's a picture of a flying fox in the chat thread that illustrates the point, the bat looks positively ginormous, but it's only because it's closer to the camera then the person in the photo.

Anyways, on topic, I'm 5'6" or 5'7" depending upon the time of day (taller in the morning), so I guess right near the middle.

Your spinal vertebra are separated by gel like discs (intervertebral fibrocartilage). Throughout the day, your mass and the Earth's gravity compress your spine diffusing some of the disc's water content. Through the night, the lack of compression of the joints allows the water content to be reabsorbed.

You can loose/gain ~2cm/1in every day/night.

I usually use the metric system, so 175cm. Malaysians have a bad habit of converting 1 inch as 2.5cm for simplicity's sake, so I always thought that I was 5'10". But it turns out I'm only 5'9" if converted properly, boohoo.

I still can't believe I'm taller than Dissension, and about the same height as Brent. I mean, I'm Asian, so I always assumed I'm shorter than most of you guys -w-

Hmmm, I suppose, yeah. I feel like I'm short because it has been ingrained in my beliefs that Western people = taller than you, regardless of your height. Most of the Americans and Europeans that I have met here has proven my belief to be valid, and it was not until recently that I learned that you guys can be short too =w=

Australians are not, though. I'm not surprised knowing Hlaoroo is shorter than me because there's a significant number of Ozzy tourists here in Sabah, and they tend to be of the same height or shorter than me. Then again, Sabahans do tend to be shorter than the median height for Malaysians, while having lean or stocky bodies, like my middle brother who is 5'4"

I see many people here who are about my height. Then again, I see a lot of people over 6 feet tall. I think that height varies more over here in North America compared to other places. I hear Europeans are quite tall (especially Scandinavians), but most of the Europeans I've met are around the average American height.

Speaking of average. I was bored and calculated the average for the heights given so far.
Average: 1.753 meters or 5 feet 9 and 1⁄64 inches. According to Google, that's right at the average for an adult male in the US.

Average height for females is 5'4"
It's just a coincidence that the average for all of them is the same as the average male height.

Last I checked, I was about 5' 10".

I've noticed that the men on my mother's side of the family tend to get rather tall. Have two younger cousins taller than me, one of them by a big margin, and one uncle who towers over us. Other two uncles, aunt, and grandparents are about the same height as my mom, though.
Very little height difference with my dad's side, though, the ones I know around 5' 8"-9".

Rather interesting, really. Read that there are many factors that attribute to height, besides the daily spinal compression, not just genetics.

Funny thing is, I'm just a little bit taller than my older brother. We would never have noticed it if we weren't trying to get a nice pose for a photo.
