Hey, motorcycles are practical! So long as you're safe with them, because they're a good way to die otherwise.

I've got a bike!
You can ride it if you like it.
It's got a basket, a bell that rings
and things to make it look good!
I'd give it to you if I could, but I borrowed it.

I didn't know that Jeff. I now feel really uneasy, my English teacher in Middle School played that song a lot. I wonder if she knew the meaning.

...okay I can see how "riding your bike" can be a euphamism for "tripping on acid" but...

Re: Chat Thread 41: Mod Maker
It's because they used to have acid in paper form so it would be harder to get caught with I guess, and a popular image to put on it was a bicycle. I don't think further explanation is necessary.

We should talk about other songs that have hidden meanings.
I feel like I know a couple but can't think of 'em at the moment. Knowing me they're probably the most well-known hidden meanings songs out there.

Re: Chat Thread 41: Mod Maker
Ring around the rosie is actually about the plague.
"Ring around the rosie"
This is the only line I'm not 100% sure on. I know it had to do with a symptom that meant you had caught the plague, but forget exactly what that symptom was. Something to do with a ring clearly.
"Pocket full of posies"
Back then, they thought that being able to smell the bodies of those already claimed by the plague would make you catch it yourself, so they would surround themselves with things that had strong smells — like posies — to protect themselves.
"Ashes, ashes" (Or achew, achew in a different version that I believe is common in Europe)
This represents either the ashes from burning those that were already claimed, or the sneezing fits that those who had caught it would tend to have.
"We all fall down"
Everyone dies.

Fun fact: That song is under copyright. It's why you rarely see it on TV or anywhere like that. The original lyrics were "good morning to you."Obbl wrote:But what about the "Happy Birthday" song, which secretly implies that it's your birthday...

Re: Chat Thread 41: Mod Maker
Oh. I know this one. Yeah, it's like a kinda really bad rash that forms on your skin in the shape of rings. This "rash" then eventually grows into a discoloured "black" ring, giving the bubonic plague it's famous "black death" nickname.JeffCvt wrote:Ring around the rosie is actually about the plague.

Yeah I always knew it at "atishoo, atishoo" (the sneezes) and the "ashes, ashes" version never sounds right to me. :/JeffCvt wrote:"Ashes, ashes" (Or achew, achew in a different version that I believe is common in Europe)

Apparently, in one of the Beatles' songs (I forget which), if you were to play the song backwards, it would say "Paul is dead" over and over. The Blue Fox wrote:We should talk about other songs that have hidden meanings.

Re: Chat Thread 41: Mod Maker
Oh yeah, there's quite a few songs out there that have a hidden message that you can hear when you play them backwards.Punchy wrote:That was at the end of "Don't Pass Me By" on the White Album. I recall it happens with a lot of children's TV programs that, when played backwards, often say stuff like "worship satan" or "666" or other devil relted stuff.
Re: Chat Thread 41: Mod Maker
It's related with Paul's death legend, but it's not really so. Probably you're talking about the song called Revolution 9. What's listened can't be written here, search and listen by yourself...Shadowstar23 wrote:Apparently, in one of the Beatles' songs (I forget which), if you were to play the song backwards, it would say "Paul is dead" over and over.
Another famous song example is Another One Bites The Dust by Queen, and I know about the case of a more recent Italian song.
I've always wondered what's the real purpose of these backmasked subliminal messages in songs which aren't neither immediate to hear and understand. Marketing? Can be, they make people talk of a sold product, doesn't matter in which way... Only a paranoic would listed many song in backwards to "find" and make believe of the existance of words and phrases that everyone can interpret differently... They involve devil, drugs, sex and other taboo arguments, and so? It's enough to know that these arguments always existed in the human life, I see nothing special. Just a little, there's to do compliments to the song writers, composers and producers who find ways to mess people's minds.
Another music related zone where the visive subliminal messages and symbolism is now pretty much used is the music videos one.
