Wondering why life is so cruel. Because in addition to my mother's friend finally dying from brain cancer, the 1 year old son of her co-worker ALSO died from cancer but in this case, leukemia.

Just returned from visiting my grandmother who's in a nursing home. I probably should go up and visit her more than I do, since I only go whenever my sister's family and my father both head up as well.

Trying to decide if I should go to my mother's friends funeral. On the one hand, I only knew her because my mother needed someone to support her while going to see her and I didn't know her before the brain tumor and if I go and get emotional, I don't want to make a spectacle of myself because I don't think I have any right to get emotional.

Your feelings are always valid. They might sometimes be intrusive and difficult for other people to handle, but they are still valid. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise =3

You might not have known her long, Amazee, but you knew her long enough to know her … and how much she mattered to your mom. Grief is wounded love, and that pain allows us all the right to carry our hurt however it needs to be expressed. Do as your beckoned, chum.

Today I resisted the temptation to buy an Oculus Quest. I can afford one but I always like to save extra before a big purchase, but the Quest's positive reviews and the fact that people have already figured out how to play Steam and Rift games on the Quest are making me want to splurge just this once...

Errands today. Grocery store to pick up my meds at the pharmacy, then to the office supply store to grab a portable HDD so I can move my excess GIS data from prior classes as well as other files off my laptop. 55 gigs of data downloaded and created over the course of two semesters is taking up a good bit of room on that C Drive.

Getting ready to head to school tomorrow for the first day of my MFA summer residency. A week long saga of lectures, readings, workshops. OMG, let me try to contain my excitement, he said dryly and without enthusiasm.
