I never actually watched this show much, but I LOVED the theme song for The World of David the Gnome.

Raise your hand if you did too.

I DID watch The Care Bears Family, though, and I liked that a LOT. That's one I miss.

(And okay, I admit it--I liked My Little Pony Tales as well.)

Thing is, I don´t even have kids yet and probably wont in the next 4 years(at least, I hope to not have way too early kids). That´s TV how it is NOW, I don´t wanna imagine how it´ll be by the time my children watch TV. >.>

It could be awesome! And if there's nothing worth watching, don't let your cubs watch TV. :3

Your kids may not even like cartoons, Medli. Untill I was ten years old, all I watched were documentaries and the History Channel. My two favorite channels were History and Dsicovery!

I thought the dog was slightly amusing in that show, but only because i found out the actor who does his voice is the same person who does the voice of Marcus Fenix in Gears of War... i thought that was an interesting shift in roles ;)

I'm the same as you, Copper, but even History and Discovery don't have near the quality of programming as they used to! There's hardly anything 'historical' on the history channel anymore.

My friends and I were actually discussing this same topic at the lunch table a few weeks ago.
I made the point: "Our whole childhood has been reduced to nostalgic moments on Youtube."

Lonely Man from the original Hulk TV show.

Now that pretty much sums up my view on TV now, just a hitch hiker trying to get by, only to get taken advantage of by a benevolent taxi driver. But sometimes, he gets picked up by an aspiring driver, someone new, refreshing and innocent.

Yes. I thought I was the only one who did that.

I miss getting up early on Saturday and sitting down in the mornings to watch Saturday morning cartoons on Kids WB. They had some great shows on there when I was a kid. I would spend mornings watching those, afternoons outside, and evenings reading in my room. I had a lot of perfect Saturdays that way.

I was thinking the same thing.

I've noticed every channel on the TV have all gone to the 'non-good' stuff, if you will. Heck, when I was ten, and WAY into Auto Racing and the like, I would always come home, grab a snack, turn on Speed Network and watch the Drag Racing, then Monster Trucks that were on every weekday. Now, its just Pinks and all the other stuff I hated. :c

Yes. Even if you didn't like it originally (when you were 6-9), if you looked at the series over time, you'd be able to see that it got worse. It was supposed to end after the movie, but it was too profitable to let die, even if it was basically already dead.

Spongebob is good. It's just not something i would watch 24/7. it's good when you watch it whenever you turn the TV on though and watch the first few episodes. It's charm is in it's simplisity turned random.

now Invader Zim. that's going a whole new level =P

The pre-movie seasons of Spongebob (the first three, I think) were very clever and oddball. The newer ones just go for cheap gags, often going an entire episode with only a joke or two. This is what happens when shows are forced to go on for longer than the creator wants them to.

Yes, the first three seasons were pre-movie. Then they had a pause for a year or two to get the movie produced, and then within a couple years of the movie somebody dug the franchise back up from the dead.

What I think is most upsetting is that the fourth season, which I was initially disgusted by, seems great in light of recent ones.

But yeah, the problem they've run into is the jokes aren't subtle. Often they explain the joke after telling it, but even more commonly they tell a joke and then add some musical element or piece of dialogue or other such device that essentially points at the gag and says "HEY THAT WAS A JOKE DID YOU HEAR IT".

Also, they try to cram way too much dialogue into eleven minutes. SB plots used to be pretty simple, if not derivitive, but they filled up their time comfortably and without overstaying their welcome. (Best example is the Pizza Delivery episode, which is essentially a story about getting lost while delivering pizza, and is one of the better episodes of the show)
Nowadays they run out of steam with a plot 3 minutes in because of how fast it moves, and then they have to switch gears and turn the direction of the story somewhere else.

I have dozens of other things I could complain about but that would get rambly.

Most of the older cartoons are WAY better the stupid reality shows. 'Codename was pretty awesome.

Well the only good cartoon that I can stand watching on tv today is Phineas and Ferb. They're pretty imaginative and predictable at most times, but hey at least it's better than nothing. Though I'm sort of losing interest in it because they've exceeded more than 104 episodes.

Well, just say that the producers skipped the school year because it wasn't interesting and now it's next summer

The nice thing about Phineas and Ferb is that it knows its predictable, and that's kinda the point. The amount of creativity they can put forth in such a formulaic structure is really quite amazing.
