Headphones?

Post by yoyodude »

Hey guys, gotta question for those with experience.

I'm really suffering right now because I don't have a good pair of over-the-ear headphones. My budget isn't really all that much, so I'm looking for ones that are relatively cheap; < $80 preferred. They ABSOLUTELY need to be strong and durable, I don't want Skullcandys! Good sound quality is preferred (duh), but I'm no audiophile.

I've been looking at these:

I like that they have a durable and long cable. The reviews I read were very favorable. They apparently have good quality, they don't break, and they are a good price.

I'm really looking for your help, guys. I'm dying without any headphones. I'd prefer if you mention headphones that you've actually owned because it gives me a better idea on whether I can believe you or not. Mention Dre Beats and you get attacked. Not lying.

I have Sony headphones that were about $55.
I got them at Best Buy.
They are over the ear and were extra bass, and worth the money.

Turtle beach earforce dpx21
7.1 surround sound, adjustable built in sound card, built in microphone, sound enhancement up the butt.
starting at 135$ - bought, and worth the money.
x3

if not,

Bose stereo headphones, noise cancelling.
~135$ -bought not worth the money, if willing to pay this much, i'd rather have the Noise cancelling ones. ~300$

And if your not willing to spend that much, then
sony extra bass earbuds.
~40$ -bought 2 pairs. well worth it.

Hey hey, people posted. I kinda did a set-and-forget hahaha.

I'm looking at these:

http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-AT ... B00242J0XU
(Sorry for the link to amazon instead of a direct link to AT or something, this was just in my tabs right now, plus it reflects the true price)

The numerous reviews I've read so far have been very positive. I like the long cord, total over ear design, and the fact that the cable is replaceable (HUGE). I also like that the frequency response is very flat, as opposed to cheaper 'phones like SkullCandys that kinda do a "V" through bass to mids to highs. I hate SkullCandys with the burning passion of a thousand passionate burning things...

I think I'm gonna go with these. If anyone owns these I would love to hear your thoughts on them!

EDIT: The reason I'm not getting the M40s I linked in the OP is because the cable terminates to a 1/4" end. I'm not interested in it when I'm never going to use it and I don't want to mess with a adapter. My brother works in communications media and he warned me that many 1/4" F to 1/8" M adapters turn your audio to garbage. I just don't want to have to worry about extra crap.

I would probably buy a Sennheiser if I bought it for music.
there price ranges seem to be around what you are looking for.

this one looks very good for it's price to me:

for gaming you might want to check out what Logitech has seeing as you might want a microphone on it then.
Overall, I would suggest just going to a media store and see if they have some on display that you can listen too.
for a price of 60 euro's + I wouldn't worry to much about what you get, chances are whatever it is it will be just fine.
