"Looking for someone, my boy?" asked a familiar voice...behind Gian.
The voice of a certain black labrador, wearing a knowing smile. "Chieftain Amelia was born no fool, lad. She just thought I should be your escort in this trip of yours."
---
Amelia nodded at the three creatures standing proudly in front of her.
She didn't need to ask Victor, of course, about his loyalty. Instead, she gave him a quick nod.
The male answered likewise, then turned and went to a big chest. He opened its massive lid with a grunt, revealing several weaponry sets inside! Sabers with slick golden blades, silvery shields, sticks of a polished, sturdy wood, and wonderful sets of bows and arrows!
Amelia said to the others, "Those shall be your weapons of choice. They belonged to the royal guard, back in the days of our last war against the red wolves. You shall wear them with pride, use them with wisdom. Their metal is light yet strong like humans' steel."

Gian froze where he was, his shoulders loosening as he quickly placed a face to the voice. He slumped his arms and turned around, smiling weakly at his father. "She let me think I was fooling her this entire time, wasn't she?" He asked. He paused a moment, and laughed a little. He'd just noticed his father was speaking in native tongue. It was strange hearing it with such an accent, faint as it was.

He looked away, now embarrassed as he rubbed his arm and stared at the ground, casting glances towards his father here or there. "How much trouble am I going to be in? I knew there was a risk to this... but even if I am getting punished... I..." He turned, walking away from his father. "I won't go back till I'm done what I came here to do. I may still be young, but I'm almost of age! I'm not like a child anymore..."

Ulysses nodded. "Young you may be, but strong of heart and soul you are, my son. I would never disrespect you in such a fashion. Amelia is worried not because of your age, but because of your blood. You, Balkan and Salina's children are vital to the future of the native canines, bridges between breeds. Not to mention that now that I found you again, I'm not gonna let you escape from my clutches!" he added with a laugh, grasping the cub and placing him on his shoulder.

Balkan's eyes grew wide as he saw the weaponry before him.
"Mastahpieces!" he mumbled, then quickly snapped out and turned to Amelia "Chieftain, can Ah take two o' dose sabers? Ah always wanted such long blades, but Dimitar and Ivan denied ta give meh any, even as they taught meh how ta use 'em."

After that intimate kiss with Salina, Randy had slept through the early evening and had woken from a guilt ridden dream. Opening his eyes in shock, he quickly sat up and panted heavily, relieved from the hellish nightmare he went through but thoroughly disturbed by what he saw in visions. A dream mixed with his past and the consequences that followed...and snakes.

He suffered a gradual headache which hit him like a knife piercing through the back of his skull. He clenched his teeth and gripped his head tightly with both of his paws. He struggled in bed with silent screams until it got too excruciating. He rolled off bed and slammed onto the cold floor, still clutching the top of his head with pain. He suffered a condition which gave him an internal suppression within his head which happened if he slept to early in the evening. The pain would accumulate if he woke up to early at night.

''SALINA....HELP...'' Randy whimpered, trying to reach his wife but he felt like he was miles away from her and all he could do was wait while he suffered in silence.

Gian yelped in surprise as he was picked up. He grumbled, and looked away. "I'm not trying to escape anything... there's just something I need to do, I was going to head home right after this." He used his small size to wiggle himself free from his fathers grasp and fall on his back on the ground with a thud. It knocked the wind out of him, but he caught his breath in his throat and recovered himself to standing position immediately. "I know I'm special! But always being protected and watched like this is very... aggitating."

He stepped passed his father, but turned to face him as he walked backwards. He'd picked up a stick and held it like he was defending himself. "Dun na' follow meh... I gotta do this alon'. Besides... ya' too big for da way I'm takin' into da' shamans place.." He found that using English was a good way to try and be authoritative. It usually worked on the younger children, and he'd gotten away with using it against an adult once or twice to tell them what to do, claimed they were the words of an elder. He didn't know the adults only humored him.

Salina woke up as if she'd been jolted by an electrical choc! she was fully awake and kneeling over Randy. She was scared, to say the least, but now her husband needed her strength, not her panic. "Panic not, my love. the sentry that was guarding our hut already left for the shaman's hut. Help will be here in a moment. But tell me, please, what kind of pain afflicts...you..?"
"Nothing that I cannot take care of," said the voice of...Bigby.
The titan boa was standing in front of the hut's entrance, his head too big to enter the small structure. "bring your mate here, Salina daughter of Amelia. Now."
Salina nodded, and helped Randy stand up. "Now be strong. Bigby is here to help you, Randy. Win your fears, please."

Ulysses grabbed his son's shoulder. his voice was grave, his eyes flashing. "I understand your pride. I trust your judgment: after all, you *did* grow up here and you know this island better than I.
"But you *are* my blood son and you are supposed to obey me.
he put an emphasis on 'blood', making Gian understand the rank as natives intended it. "We shall not be alone in this trip. We will be waiting for the others and will join them to the Sacred Village. In numbers, we will be safer than alone. Am I clear on that? And I heartily suggest you not to run away: I am *very* good at tracking. I am trained for that since long before you were even born."
---
Il-Korhaz glanced at the mighty weapons with awe. he was too young of course to have lived during to the long conflict between the Red Wolves and the African Lycaons, before the latter mixed their blood with the humans' army German Shepherds. it was during that war that the rabbits could prosper, their natural enemies too busy fighting among themselves to hunt for them.
The rabbits knew something about weapons, but these...
Il-Korhaz nodded to Amelia. "Chieftain, ah am onhored by your offer. Ah'll take these as mah choice." he grabbed a bow and a quiver of arrows, and a couple of daggers. They felt light in paws, and the golden blades looked very sharp. "Thank you, chieftain."

Balkan took two of the sabers "As ya said, these are light indeed." He stepped away from the rest and swung them a few times "They be also handling well an' they fit perfectly in mah paws" He looked at Amelia and Victor "Ah hope ya don't mind me ta get both of 'em."

Il-Korhaz grinned as well, as he slung the quiver diagonally across his back and storing the daggers in the belt bag. "Int'midate dem rather dan figh'in' dem, ya mean?" he said, holding the bow by the grip and pushing it away from himself as if to repel potential opponents.

The half-wolf then looked at the two Lycaons "Do these happen ta have any scabbards?"

''Gahh...Oh God, nggh...I...don't remember...the pain being this sharp...AGGHH...'' Randy said through gritted teeth, gripping his head again as the pain continued to throb away, and now he felt as if his head was about to explode. The sight of Bigby had already awakened his phobia and was already freaking about, but the massive headache numbed his senses so Randy still felt a little at ease.

With some strength and that of Salina's, he finally managed to get up. He felt woozy from the pain and was on the verge of passing out, but he put in a final effort to face Bigby. The paw which gripped his head went down and gripped Salina's other paw which was holding him up.

''Salina....dear....*cough*...thanks...'' Randy said weakly.

"I don't know if you'll say so, in a while. Bigby..?"
The serpent...spat. A glob of some oily, viscous spit hit the white dog straight on his head, spreading on the skull.
"You still in pain, mammal?" Bigby asked.

''AGH..'' Randy yelped out as the strange oil-like saliva plopped on his head and started flowing down his skull in all directions. Randy stared in shock as the liquid dripped down from his head and onto the floor. But little did he know that a gradual healing process was taking place. The pain which dominated his head had now begun to subside and he was already able to feel his whole body again and stand on his feet.

''Oh my God....did I just suffer the most terrible headache or something?'' Randy asked Salina with a puzzled look. He then looked back at Bigby, smiling and bowing his head in gratitude. ''Thank you very much Bigby....Whatever that was, it sure helped me out..'' Randy said.

"What I gave you, Randy, is my venom. We use it on our natural enemies to paralyze them. On other animals, it is a very potent painkiller as you have experienced. Humans think it can be used to cure the disease they call 'cancer', although I do not know how. Their explanations are too complicated.
"As for you, I tasted your conditions, when we met, and I understood that whatever is the nature of your problem, it will likely pass onto your cubs. That is why I advise you visit the shamans of the Sacred Village. They may help you find a cure."

The rabbit was making a face at the food. "Waiting for my vegetable dishes, thank you. I don't know how you can live with that stuff inside your stomachs...ahh!" He sighed as they served him Bruschette as entree. "Neapolitan bread, Tuscan olive oil, and garlic: the very best in the world!" Then he started eating happily.

Gian was about to speak out, but his father pulled rank and he silence himself. He looked up at his father, his eye's burning with frustration, anger, sadness, a whole mix of emotions as he struggled to get his way, to find the right thing to say. His brow was furrowed, but relaxed as he turned his gaze to the ground, frowning. "Safety... " He didn't know what to say. He felt it was unfair, not right, an injustice! But.. he knew he was only thinking these things through selfish emotions.

He gripped the satchel on his hip, and lifted it higher as he pushed past his father, heading back in the direction of the village. As long as Ulysses was there, Gian's mission was over. He was so close... if he came in a group and was seen, Trerria-la would be hidden away from him and everyone else. The soul purpose of her being there was to keep her from him, and him from her. Tonight he had a chance, he knew he was sneaky enough to get to her and get out with out being noticed. If not for Ulysses showing up... "Once back at the village... leave me alone." He didn't look at his father, and only marched back towards home.

Ulysses wasn't, or didn't look, moved. "So? Is that it? Are you a quitter, son? Your mother didn't fear the wrath of her own kin, to be with a stranger she loved. Is your love for that rabbit so insignificat that a scolding will extinguish it?"

The Game wrote:Andy raised his eyebrows, grinning. "Really? Could o' fooled me," he said.

"Maybe you should think before jumping to conclusions," Celeste snapped, pressing a paw to her forehead. Funny how, despite her vehement denial, she didn't even think to ask Adel to put her down. Not because she didn't think that might help their argument, but really because she didn't want him to. There was something horribly wrong with her and she wasn't even sure of what it was.

"I wasn't," Andy defended himself, "Just that y'all are actin' couple-y. Didn't mean any offense 'r nothin'." He raised his paws in a calm down potion. Celeste opened her mouth, as if to demand more from him, but shut it and simply looked away. He waited a second before nudging Adel with his elbow. "Are y'all really just friends?"
Adel looked down at the flustered cat in his arms and then at Andy. Some doubts of his impending answer creeped into his head, but as he knew it, there really was nothing more than a friendship between the two of them. It was a close friendship, and he felt like he could tell her anything, like he had done before of his late girlfriend, but there truly wasn't anything more than a solid friendship. He nodded.

"Ja." At the very least, this is true for now...

Finally arriving at the resort, Adel notioned his head toward the doors. "Vould you mind opening ze door please, Andy?"

He stopped and growled over his shoulder. "Right now, it doesn't really matter. Arguing with you has made more then enough noise for the guards to tell someones here... even if I was lucky enough for no one to have heard us, it's too late now... she's most likely not at the same place anymore." His grip on the satchel tightened. What was his father doing? Telling him not to go, and when he listens, insulting him for not standing up for what he wanted to do. He didn't get what his father was trying to do. "I'll try again some other day.. one which I hopefully won't be followed like a new born pup exploring his surroundings..." Turning back to where he was going, he started jogging away from Ulysses, just trying to put distance between them. He was frustrated now, and he needed to cool off.

Ulysses walked to his son. "Is that the problem? Are you just assuming the village guards will not allow you inside? Forgive me for being blunt, but... Have you ever tried to *ask* them permission to enter? The sacred village is not a prison, you know."

thrasherblades wrote:''Oh dear..'' Randy heaved in despair when he heard that. He couldn't imagine his own cubs bearing the genetic conditions of the father. The cubs waking up in the middle of the night and crying with ear splitting screams.
''Thank you Bigby...'' Randy said, slowly making his way back to Salina. He swiped the remaining venom off his head and hugged his wife. ''I'm so sorry I brought this upon you my love...'' Randy said with remorse. ''I had no idea that my condition grew worse as I became of age. I only thought that it happened more often when I was a pup, but it is still plagued within me...'' he said, looking down.
Salina hugged Randy. "Now let us care of the journey ahead, my love. You'll see, the wise ones shall find a cure... But tell me. How do these headaches occur? Remember, you must be able to describe everything to the shamans." She kept herself to plain English, she didn't want him to suffer a headache out of trying to understand her.

Randy thought of it for a while, then shook his head in disappointment and looked at Salina. He had no idea how it occured to him. It was totally random.

''When I was a smaller pup, these headaches would occur in the middle of the night if I were to get up and get a drink of water for example...'' Randy began, relating to her an incident which happened 3 years ago before he moved here. He got up to the apartment's kitchen, and he had collapsed due to the pain in his skull being so overwhelming that it caused him to pass out. His owner had him taken to the pet hospital to be treated, and soon enough, after a few months and many anti biotics later, he was finally cured.

Or so he thought..

The painful memory still rang fervently through his head and he shivered at the mere thought of it. He sighed as he sat down on the bed and looked down. ''I don't know wether I have been cursed ever since I moved here. Is it any wrongdoing of mine?'' Randy asked, his face filled with worry and concern.

Salina sat beside her spouse and embraced him again. "You have brought joy in our lives, we are gonna be parents. If this is wrongdoing or a curse, they are very strange ones. We have more of Bigby's poison to help you relieve your pain, in case it occurred again before we reach the Sacred Village."

Donau nodded. Mrs Cooper said, "Your music, your concert. Just give me a complete list of the other artists and the instruments you all will be needing. I will take care of the stage and my staff will work on the hardware. How does it sound?"

Randy returned his wife's embrace with a gentle nuzzle in her neck. ''I only want to have the cubs live their lives normally and not with this condition which I might pass down to them..'' Randy said. ''It isn't my desire to suffer, but it is my strongest desire not to let our children bear this unfortunate sickness. I guess this is the price I pay for stealing and robbing people's money for a living...but no matter, I will fight on, for the future you and our cubs deserve..'' Randy said, looking at her with brave eyes.

"To Meriweather Island," said Richard. "To your future, to love and fame. Prosit."
"Prosit," said Cooper and Donau

"I expect no less of you," Salina said.

As Balkan received the scabbards of the sabers, he bowled to everyone. "Ah'll be leavin' ye for now - gotta fix these up ta my harness!" with these words he quickly left chieftain's hut and shortly after - reached his own. There, he quickly attached one of the scabbards to the back of his harness and the other one to the belt of his harness with small leathery straps of military origin. He was quickly done with them and shortly after - armored as well. He sat in front of his hut and waited

Andy nodded and opened the door. "No prob," he said kindly.

Celeste placed her paws on Adel's forearms. "Thank you," she said politely as she let her feet fall to the floor. That nagging feeling that she was completely and utterly insane hadn't left her, but she put on a smile and acted as if it didn't exist. "Now what should we eat?" she prompted jovially.

Andy scratched his head. "Meat," he decided after a moments thought. "Tasty meat," he elaborated. "Anyone know where we can git that?"

"Hmm... Ja, meat does sound good. I imagine ze cafeteria vould have many kinds of meat to serve ze many tourists' different tastes." Adel looked around for a second, wondering where exactly the cafeteria would be before his eyes settled on a sign that denoted that the lunchroom was to their right.

He pointed at said sign. "Vould ze "lunchroom" to ze right of us suffice?"
