Res is another human-turned-pet. Except this one didn't like cats and was turned into a cat. Which is why he's so nervous acting around Grape. King kinda acted similarly when he was first meeting the dogs.

Res is the real writer of the Pridelands Series. Her owner is the one autographing the book. Grape finds out that Res' owner is Ms. Auburn, but not that Res is the real writer. Grape gets excited and invites Res to stay at her house that night. Ms. Auburn agrees to it, and sends Res off before she can protest. Ms. Auburn wants Res to socialize with more cats and gain confidence, thinking that that might help her with her writing.

Anywho, when Grape and Res arrive at the Sandwich household, they go to Grape's room, where awkward small talk takes place. Res, wanting to get away for a minute, asks to go to the restroom. Grape points her in the right direction, but Res is too nervous to hear right, and barges into Peanut's room by mistake. She is about to turn away when she catches sight of a binder on his desk. She begins to read Peanut's Spot comics when she hears a small cough. Standing in the doorway is Peanut. Res blushes at the handsome dog standing before her.

Maxwell is the real writer behind Pridelands.

Everyone else writes with him, but he's the one putting them together. Miss Auburn turns out to also be his rightful owner under Jake due to divorce reasons and Miss Auburn helps Max out with publishing.

Res is Maxwell's future rival in another series featuring dogs.

I doubt Res is the real writer of Pridelands. He admited in the newest strip he has trouble writing dialog, which is something the fans would notice.
I just think Res is a guy and will join the Grape love octagon.

No actually Res said that he can write dialog but he/she sucks at actually speaking to people.

Res is the writer, but she gets input from her friend Gapre online. She disguises that fact by making wild mass guesses on a Prideland's fan forum, to which Gapre sends her input on PMs. Grape has no idea the role she has played in the writing of the Pridelands series. She faints when Res tells her about her friend Gapre. Res is shocked that she has met her friend in real life.

If Res is a guy, then there is also going to be another suitor for Grape.
