Housepets Myers-Briggs

Post by Llyrelated »

Anyone here familiar with MBTI? What types do you think the characters are? I'll start with the two most prominent characters.

Peanut - ENFP
Grape - ISTP

I'm familiar with it, but I've forgotten a bunch about it.

That just brings up a bunch of psychology mumbo-jumbo.
also, it requires me to do stuff, i'm lazy.
You can't put together a TLDR version?

TLDR, it's psychology jumbo jumbo.

Sorry, I'm being difficult. Basically, it's the world's second most popular pseudoscience. The idea is that all personalities can be categorized by 16 different types. These types are determined by four dichotomies:

I (introvert) vs E (extrovert)

S (sensor) vs N (intuitive)

F (feeling) vs T (thinking)

P (perceiving) vs J (judging)

I'm going to go into a bit more detail, but remember, nobody is 100% one way or the other, it's about which you fit into the best.

Introverts tend to be quiet and enjoy alone time or small groups, while extroverts tend to enjoy large groups and being around other people.

Sensors tend to be pragmatic and often focus on details while intuitives often enjoy abstractions and looking at the big picture.

Feelers typically make decisions based on ethics or emotion while thinkers are more likely to make decisions based on what they perceive as logical

Perceivers tend to be improvisational and like to keep their options open, while judgers make decisions right away and prefer things organized

So, for example, an extroverted sensing thinking judger would be an ESTJ. This is a fairly hasty description, and doesn't even cover the cognitive functions, but it works as an introduction to MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator)

I'm thinking King might be ISTJ, but I'm not sure.

Maxwell - ESFP.
Tarot - INTJ.
Sabrina - ENFP.
Fido - ISFJ
From the test construct, Max and Tarot are 180 degrees.

I've taken the test four times. It's very popular in some management communities and cheaper than a horoscope.

Are there any INFP characters?
Douglas isn't my real name, but because of a name block put on me by a higher-order being known as Djinni, I can't say my real name.

Res is definitely INFP. I think he's the only one, which is interesting because INFPs are usually fairly common in fiction. Lots of INFP protagonists.

I think Keene could pass as either an INTJ or ENTJ now that I think about it. He seems like an ambivert.

I think he's an ENTJ. ENTJs aren't usually stereotypically extroverted, but they're better at organization and getting things done than their introverted counterparts.

Yeah, Keene's a tricky call. Much of his behavior is extroverted, but he is sort of an "it's lonely at the top" sort. With the possible exception of Lana, the other ferrets seem to be ESFJ types.

Breel is really starting to come off as an ESFJ as of lately.

I would have taken Breel for an ENFP type, but now that you raise it, he has been rather by-the-book "J" lately.

Also, I'd say Rock is more of an ESTJ than an ESFJ, Rock doesn't really strike me as an emotionally sensitive type.

Rock is super meticulous and manipulative. Pit, on the other hand, is more of a ESFP, the proverbial "wild and crazy guy."

I dunno, I think King is more of a judger than a perceiver (INFJ, or perhaps ISFJ).

Llyrelated observed that Res might be the only INFP in Housepets!, and he may be right. Many literary types fall into this category.

As to King, I agree with Doug that he's a "judger".... I also kinda think he's an Extrovert, because he's so verbal, but he also show Introvert characteristics, too. (Few friends, but very close to them...) ESFJ

Regards.

Not sure if Res is the ONLY INFP. I'm kinda getting INFP-ish vibes from Dallas as well.

But he’s got natural +10 charisma - the mark of an extrovert.

I can't see King as an extrovert. The only reason he became friends with Fox is because Fox approached him, and King was quite content to let Fox be his only friend for a very long time. He's over analytical, quiet, and doesn't really go out of his way to talk to people. It seems he really just wants to be left alone and enjoy a life of pleasant consistency, which seems very ISTJ to me.

Cerberus could well be ESFJ.
