Group Fanfiction.

Post by Souji »

I've seen all of these fanfictions on this forum; most of them are pretty good, but not quite at a professional level. A group effort at a good piece of literature sounds, to me at least, like a good idea. However as of now, it's just an idea. If it needs to bloom into something of reality, I need to know who would be willing to participate and what jobs they would like to do. Characters, of course, will be from the HP side (subject to discussion), and will remain at PG and below (not subject to discussion).

Hmm... this actually does sound like an interesting idea. If nothing else, I'd volunteer to be a proofreader/editor. You know, put my grammar-Nazism to good use. :3

MMMmmm if you consider my job at least "interesting" I would be glad tto participate, it's a good chance for knowing more people, learn more writing lessons and make good literature pieces....I'm not a "grammar genius" but i think maybe an "ideas volunter"m i was working in the love and unlove theme, and music :D :D

I would be happy to work in this project. Let me know your decision please.

I'd like to leave this topic here for a couple days, and then at the end of it get everyone together and talk about it.

Interested.
I like writing and editing :D
I can do scenery descriptions, dialog, inner thoughts and feelings. (Have yet to test myself on action sequences)
In editing I'm good at keeping the author's style of writing in place.

a group of fiction sounds like a very unique concept- although I don't have much to offer in the skill department(I'm pretty sure most chimpanzees can write better than me). - I wouldn't mind assisting with a few setting descriptions.

All right, so I think we'll come together in a day and talk about this... any preferred methods of communication?

I need to check the Fan Projects thread more often. I don't exactly know what I would be able to do, but I do want to help somehow.

I'd say Skype(IM only, as I use my computer in a common area of the house) or AIM.

Skype could work.

Also, I'm told I do action sequences well. So, if that comes up, dibs.

Skype works for me, although time zones may/may not be an issue depending on who gets involved.

It'd probably be best if we post our skype addresses as well. housedog7 is mine.
We can also use the thread in Not the Comic for it, but we have to make sure all of our Skype addresses are listed there.

This all sounds like a neat idea, but I know that it can be really hard to coordinate group projects like this. Especially writing, because it usually reflects the author, and if many people get involved, there are likely to be opposing opinions on the different aspects of the story. I don't want to sound like I'm raining on your parade or anything though; I'd love to read the result of this.

You could always partition certain storylines and/or chapters, like in other books made by a collection of authors. That way, each chapter, instead of each concept put in action, can have a unique tone.

Having one person, say, write the scenery, another provide narrative, and another providing dialogue will probably produce wildly inconsistent content, in both grammar and tone. Unless, perhaps, you have a very good editor, but even then that's a big 'perhaps.'

Sinder was the first person to write a fanfic for housepets.

He's also a professional writer. :P

Has he made a book or something? Because I'd buy anything from that guy in a heartbeat.
