This one is quite uninteresting... I want to see Sasha! Although, I do love it when King is freaking out.

I came across a beautiful panel of Grape and Max in one of the comics (http://www.housepetscomic.com/comic/201 ... -my-mouth/)
So I took the time to clean it up and get the following frame:

Image

Neat, huh? But I thought it was a shame that the resolution was so low. In a perfect world, Rick Griffin would publish all the comics in the original quality with and without speech bubbles so that we could see the art the way it deserves to be seen (If Rick actually does this, let me know!)

So, I turned to the next best answer: AI upscaling! With the modern technology of today, we can use artificial intelligence to increase the quality of images by having a computer "guess" what the image would look like if it was in a higher resolution. By looking around the internet, I found the following website for upscaling of anime-style images for free: http://waifu2x.udp.jp/.
On the website, I chose the image file I wanted to upscale, I put the "style" setting to "artwork" and the "upscaling" to "2x". Then I clicked "convert". This opened a new tab with the new image. I was completely mind-blown. I stared at the screen for a solid 15 seconds. I copied the image, pasted it in my image editing software (paint.net) and polished it a bit. This is the result:

Image

Pretty amazing, don't you think? Of course, I didn't stop there! I went ahead and scaled it up one more time. Here is a handy comparison of the different sizes:

Image

I don't know about you, but I'm seriously impressed, it's like magic(k)! If you have a favorite panel that you want to upgrade, now you know what to do!

If you're interested in taking a closer look, here are the three different sizes:

Original

2x upscaling

4x upscaling

I made a whole thread for this, you can find it here

As I have said before, I really do like how you had done these frames to make them clearer! Great job!

That strip has the best punchline in all the comic

And once Sasha shows up with her eyes OPEN FOR ONCE I'll make the next iris update!

You asked for it! Added eye-color week 3, Monday update! starring our newest additions: Sasha, Olive, and Rook!

Image

Aren't they beautiful? I've never seen Olive or Rook's eye-color, and I don't know if Rick ever confirmed them either, so i got creative. Olive has, you guessed it, olive eyes! I made it a vibrant color because Olive is energetic and extroverted like Sasha. Rook is named after a chess piece like King, and the rook piece is shaped like the tower of a fortress made out of stone, which is gray. So I made Rook's eyes gray, slightly blue, but not as blue as his father's. What do you guys think?

Also, can King just stop being a grumpy human and give Sasha the love she deserves?!

I'm sure that he would but he is worried about not being able to stop himself and hurting Bailey if he goes too far with Sasha if that makes sense.

But wonderful job on this strip!

Well, we all wish we were covered in fur, huh?

Here is friday's update:

Image

Does anyone else feel like today's comic seems kinda half-German Black Forest Cake? Bailey's attitude doesn't seem very convincing and they don't look like in talking together in the same room. It feels kinda disjointed, like they're looking past eachother...

Here is week 4, Monday update with added color!

He’s shown eye color in extreme close ups and to imply a mood. The latter we saw with Peanuts mental breakdown during an art block.

Let's hope for the best lol.

Here is last friday's update:

Image

And this Monday's! I had to actually remove the little color Rick added here to add an iris, sorry!

Image

I'm getting pretty comfortable with the smaller irises. I does in fact look better this way. Enough color to add character, but not enough to become uncanny.

Also, how insane is Bailey's relationship advice here? This is the sort of stuff I need to take a lesson from

Yeah I do know that and remember what was said about him but I don't believe that has anything to do with it nor do I think that cats are very much smarter than others species. I think that all species have the ability to be smart as each other and that some species aren't more smarter or dumber.

Must have been established that he is really handsome because when he met the other pets and was drunk on orange soda the females really seemed to adore him.

Really enjoying these edits, MasterAbsinthe. You've found the right balance of iris color and size. I didn't think King could look any more cool in that last panel but you proved me wrong.
