Server is updated to 1.17

So are there any new features with each update or is it just something that makes the game more faster?

Yes, there are new features.
1.16 heavily overhauled the Nether to make it a lot more interesting. A larger variety of objects and mobs spawn there now.
Iirc, 1.17 heavily overhauled the game's cave generation to make them a lot more interesting. A larger variety of objects and mobs spawn in them now, similar to what the previous update did for the Nether.

However, none of this stuff will spawn in the server unless you go a very massive amount of chunks away from spawn just due to how long ago the world was created.

Thank you for letting me join. I logged in this afternoon to check out the server, didn't have any problems with logging in and the builds are real nice, had fun discovering the map. Though it was a bit sad that nobody else was on the server when I played.

That might be because of time differences since I assume that the majority of the members are in the US.

Yeah thats one of the facts. But in the last month there was rarely anyone online. Most likely also due to the not that great performance for People in the US on the Server since its located in Germany.


On a sidenote i did update the Server again to 1.18.1 since there is a big security flaw in Java Applications currently. To read more about this check this link https://minecraftonline.com/wiki/Log4Shell

The server is located in Germany because Invisan is German. Minecraft is from Sweden

Chieris is correct. Its located in Germany since i am living here. (And its cheaper than the Server in the US). Minecraft itself does not offer real Server. You can order them from Retailers which are partially specialised for it. Minecraft itself now is owned by Microsoft. Originally by Mojang which was owned by a Swedish Guy.

This does not necessarily have to be the case. Its just easier to search for a host in the country where you live. Servers in the US are most times more expensive then the ones in Germany. There are other countries which are cheaper though. But the connection times for me are faster so it is easier to have my Server here in the Country where i live rather then overseas.

I could rent a Server over the US as well though. But since Minepets is just one of many things i run on that server and most others tend to need the better connection i have that server located here.

What other things do you run with the server if you don't mind me asking?

A few Webpages, a Teamspeak Server, 2 other Gaming Servers, a VPN and some other stuff.

I assume you also have your own private stuff on the server not meant for the public. I get it and I won't pry.

Just FYI. Server wont be reachable for some time today since i will install some Updates to the Server itself.


Edit: Seems the Server will stay off for a bit longer. It looks like there is a Hardware or Network issue on the Provider Side.

Hope that you will be able to figure it all out and get everything back up and running.

Everything should be running again now. Was a weird issue. According to the Hosting Company the Server had no Video output but after 3 Reboots from me and one from them the Server is running again. If there are issues again i will check after i am awake again after work.

Glad to see that the issue has resolved! Here is hoping that it doesn't cause problems again!

Welp i was way too optimistic there. Server back down again. Will update you when i know more.

Edit: Same Problem as yesterday. Host gave me some options and they will now change the Hardware. Hopefully that will solve it. Otherwise it might be a HDD/Software Issue. Which would mean reinstall from scratch...

Edit2: Server crashed again after the HW change. Gonna let the Host run a complete System check and after that most likely need to reinstall from Scratch. So the Server will most likely be offline for the whole week depending how much time i have to set it up again.

Edit3: Ok. It seems it was way easier.... After the Upgrade on what grounds so ever the OS decided enabling the power saving features should be a valid option. I completely disagree with that. So hopefully the server should run stable again after i disabled those.

Sheesh it sounds like it is a big hassle to get everything continuing to work. Hope that you can keep it working and not crashing eventually!

Memo. Server will be down for a while since i am Switching to a new more Powerful System.

How long do you estimate that the server will be down?

Its back up an running now. And reachable via mc.invisan.live. This adress will not change even if i will change Servers or if the IP changes
Its also been updated to the newest Version.

It might be up and down the next few Days since i still have to do some stuff at the server which might require Rebooting now and then. But i will see that i catch some times when no one is on the Server.
