Okay, Calvin's problem is really just shock, with his brother being dead and all that. And of course the loss of his parents and his owner and getting abusive new owners, but that's all just backstory, but it did pile up into shock, I doubt even my brother could go through that unfazed. (He didn't cry when our dog died, or during any funerals we went to, or sad movies.)

Oh, I know that. But the vets in the story don't. They can only act based on what they know.
Using knowledge we have but they don't in character is called metagaming and it's frowned on because it's a kind of powerplay and it breaks the flow of the story.

These sound like events that happened in the past. From my point of view, I feel like there is some disconnect between the events you are discribing and the events we are seeing your character go through in the roleplay. Like for instance a pretty big backstory moment for my character Sunny is that he got beat up a lot as a pup and overcame adversity, traveling around, amd never really having any friends. I display this by his attachment to Sue, whom he sees and believes is one of his most trusted friends.

Far be it from me to...but in, but like I'm having a really hard time here correlating all that. With the behavior unless your character recently ran away from said abused home and found RA. Maybe I'm butting in where I should not, but if he just recently went through all that shock would be appropriate. Otherwise I would just pretty much call that PTSD. And PTSD does have a wide range of symptoms so, again who am I to critique. But I've stayed silent on the matter so I thought I would voice up.

It may be unusual in a pet based.

My advice? Create one WITH a Pet. If they've just arrived in the area they may be exploring it together so you can use both characters. Then, after you're more used to the characters, they can split and do their own things. Although she's kinda supposed to be an NPC, Sally the 10 year old is kinda one of my main characters at the moment and she's human. Hlaroo's got humans wandering around too and there are others. But, generally, it's more pets that take the lead in there RP's but Richmond Acres IS supposed to be the entry RP so it'd be perfect for you to try out running a pet character to see if you can like it, yeah?

Funny enough, I might be able to help you then. I made a mouse character who currently has no owner but be willing to get one. Of course, don’t know if the GM will be fine with that, and it still leave you without many opportunities where you can hangout with the other players. Also, kinda like Welsh, I also have a human character who I have to admit has kinda become a bit of a main. It’s not a bad idea to come up with a pet character, gives you an idea of how you want to integrate them into a town that has a lot of walking and talking animals roaming about it.

You should probably setup your character either way. Even if they aren’t okay with a human 1. You can’t argue that the character could work in the RP without any character ready for it. 2. If we were to find an animal you’d be fine playing, all you’d need to do is change the species on the guy you made

Thanks for the interest in the RP.

Unfortunately, as has been pointed out, the RPs, and this one especially, are meant to be all about the animals. Keeshah gets away with his human character because she's the vet, isn't really a main character, and because Keeshah is playing a pet too.

Even if I did let you have a human character in here I'd still want you to have an animal to play as your main character. And in any case, you haven't given me a character sheet so I have nothing to approve anyway.

Sorry I can't be more help.

If you're set on playing a human though I'd suggest asking Valerio or Cyberdragon about Apollo City or Beacon of Hope. Those RPs are likely to be more accepting of humans.

... yeah if they’re not willing to reveal, it’s obvious they’ve got nothing. Though not be a bad opportunity to list off the human characters in this RP, I can start it off mentioning I have one, a vet named Sue who at this point I really should just make a character sheet for.

That post wasn’t bad, but you need the GM’s approval of a character before you start so they might delete that as you didn’t make a character sheet here before you start. Also might be good to know where you’re starting off. My character Rudder is about to be alone on characters he can respond to, so it might benefit both of us if you want to end up at the vets due to your malnutrition

I'm back with my boys, both with shiny new character sheets and slight alterations to their characters and backstories! Hope they're still okay!



Character Name: Flukely Lewis Tylers

Color: Baby Blue!

Type: Main

Species/Breed: Brittany Dog

Age: 6 human years = 21 pet years

Appearance: Being a Brittany, Flukely is pretty average in the height department, if not just over the average. He’s mostly white, minus a few brown patches on his back, tail, and face area, along with a patch or two on his paws. His eyes are a very, very light blue, to the point that some even call them a light greyish color. He is lanky, but lean, and wears a lab coat tied around his waist full of different trinkets and tools, none of which you can touch without permission. His hair is messy and, after a lab incident, his pupils are two noticeably different sizes. One thing you’ll notice, if not his pupils, is that his paws are black due to all the smoke that comes with working on invention with second rate tools in his garage.

Personality: When Flukely was a puppy, his parents had taken him to a fairground for the day. He was having fun, running rides and eating all sorts of stuff he would regret on the drive home, but what really caught his eye was a presentation going on near the Tilt-a-Whirl. The guy there was presenting all sorts of invents and people were oohing and aahing with interest, which was all it took for Flukely to declare he was gonna be a famous inventor someday. Unfortunately for his parents, this was not some dream that would be left in the backseat of the car once they got home.

Flukely himself is quirky fellow, but if you can get passed the smell of smoke and oil and his impossibly strong handshake, you’ll find that Flukely is actually just very excitable and happy and not some scary mad scientist making weapons of destruction. Unless his caught of the middle of working, he’s timid around people he doesn't know, but he tries to make friends with others because he enjoys having people to talk to.

Other notes: Flukely went to the Academy to be a guard dog, but due to him constantly making machines that either helped him or did the assignment for him, he was kicked out. Despite this, he is actually really strong and durable. Guess all that lifting of heavy machinery can actually pay off for something, huh?

Appearance: Charles is a dark black cat with sharp green eyes that stick out from his own being completely. He wears brass laboratory goggles on his forehead, but keeps his usual pair of glasses hung on his collar if he isn't reading something. Charles, unlike Flukely, sports a grey lab coat with orange pockets and actually wears it properly, instead of tied around his waist. He has small spots of white on his back from an invention mishap that sort of make him look like a messed up skunk, but no one knows that but him. He holds his head high and those who see think he's think strong, intimidating, tomcat, but in reality it's, "My invention is better than yours! Nah, nahnah, nah, nah!"

Personality: Charles is, in a word, petty. Very, very, incredibly petty. He’s the dictionary definition of rude, brash, and will manipulate whoever he has to to get what he wants without a second thought about the possible consequence of his actions. He will often stick his tongue out and scrunch his nose at the slightest thing that displeases him, having no problem with showing his disgust with things. Charles has never even consider friends, nor will he ever, not after Flukely decided to leave him behind how he did all those years ago. But despite his horrendous attitude, that doesn't mean he can't change, you just have to try really, really, really hard. He is also an inventor, but unlike Flukely who works from his garage, Charles has a lab in the attic. Although no one has seen anything he’s done, he always claims it’s the coolest thing the world would ever allow you to see.
