It's not just you. Chats are a bit slower these days. Gives us more time to savour them, I suppose.

So, what do you guys think of the motion smoothing effect on newer TVs? I personally loath it, because it makes the best special effects look fake, animated movies look like in-game video game gameplay, and dramatic moments in movies look like they were shot on a camcorder. I'lł grant that it makes sports look better, but I feel like the negative effects far outweigh the positive.
Douglas isn't my real name, but because of a name block put on me by a higher-order being known as Djinni, I can't say my real name.
Re: Chat Thread 42: The Answer To Life, The Universe and Eve
Okay, I've got to show this. I'm sure many of you know who Don Bluth is. But for those who don't, he's an animator who made films such as The Secret of NIMH, An American Tail, The Land Before Time, and Anastasia. Recently, he and Gary Goldman have started a Kickstarter in order to make a pitch for a project they've been working on for quite some time. A film adaptation of their game Dragon's Lair.

I dislike the motion blur. It just makes it look fake.
Hey, that's pretty cool! Don Bluth kinda had a drop in quality but I bet all the time he's had off will make any new project a lot better. Plus creative freedom!

Just so long as it keeps up with the times - I doubt a ditsy, busty damsel in distress will go over big with female audiences.

Not to dive too deeply into controversial topics, I daresay most women (a group that does not exclusively consist of biological females) would be more concerned with the damsel-in-distress/ditz persona than the character's bust size. Women with large bosoms exist.

I'd want somebody who would rescue me and be heroic, but also who recognizes I'm capable myself, too~

Sleet identifies as whichever gender typically corresponds with her body. He's not particularly androgynous offline. If you've seen her, you know what he is.

Not to mention that neither heroism, capabilities nor a need for assistance have any particular correlation to gender.

It's set during in the early days of the 20th century and it's centered around Coalhouse Walker Jr, a pianist, his love interest Sarah, an upper-class suburbanite family who helps out Sarah and her new born son, and Tateh, who moves to America along with his daughter for a new life. And that's all I'm gonna say for now because I don't wanna spoil anything.Hlaoroo wrote:I haven't seen that show. Speaking of, did y'all know I only met Diss in person for the first time a month ago? It's been so long, but it never happened until now.

You guys are so lucky to meet people from the forum here in real life.
Though to be honest, when I was in Arizona, I probably could have tracked down Civil if I wanted to. Plus I live in Rhode Island, so I could also drive into Massachusetts if anybody lived there.

Yeah, I get a little jealous sometimes. So far, there only two people (Crux and 69eist) here in the forums I can possibly meet in real life, unless there's anyone else here in the Philippines.Amazee Dayzee wrote:You guys are so lucky to meet people from the forum here in real life.

Also, in a sorta unrelated note, me and the family are gonna go to Singapore next month. We'll even get to spend New Year there too. Sooo... if anyone's there, let's maybe meet up or somethin'.
Heellooooooooo!! Anyone who wants to talk to me, please do. I get lonely sometimes and I get scared whenever I talk first...

well beyond selfies, they could be useful for getting close up pictures of things out of your reach. so they could be useful.

You're at the Niagra Falls with family and friends (on the Canadian side, of course)Amazee Dayzee wrote:On another note, can somebody please tell me WHY selfie sticks are a thing?
and you want to simultaneously capture the beauty of your surroundings
and the smiling faces of your family.
In order to do this, you need either a person to hold your camera,
(which isn't a problem in Canada, but having been there for a week you've grown accoustomed to not wanting to bother people)
or an instrument which can greatly extend the available field of view of your camera compared to your arm.
Enter: The Selfie Stick.
I mean I guess you could carry a tripod around everywhere like a dork.

Re: Chat Thread 42: The Answer To Life, The Universe and Eve
I'd think I'd rather just take a picture manually then using a selfie stick. Besides in case you guys haven't noticed, I'm not very photogenic.
Re: Chat Thread 42: The Answer To Life, The Universe and Eve
Selfie sticks are pretty much just Jib arms (see picture) but stripped way down and for consumer use. Sometimes you just need your reach extended for photogrpahy reasons. Obviously Selfies are much less serious but some people really like documenting their lives and it seems inevitable that cheaper versions of photography tools would exist to accomodate that.
I personally wouldn't spend the money on it, but that's why I'm not the target demographic.

So I know just had it confirmed to me that my maternal grandmother (not the one that had the stroke, the widow) might have a problem with alcohol. We had to take her to the hospital at 3 in the morning because she fell and hit her head. They did a breathalyzer on her.
0.4 was her BAC. She said she tripped over my cousins toys but I don't think so.
