Thats what happened to me, I was sick of people giving me crap, so when a guy named Sean started making fun of me I stood up and hen he said "What are you gonna do [classy individual]?" I punched him hard enough to knock him over a desk. The cool thing was my math teacher was on my side for this.RandomGeekNamedBrent wrote:these zero tolerance policies just make it so the person being bullied just snaps after a while of sitting back and letting it happen.

see, in that situation you answered verbal abuse with physical violence, which is wrong. That's a bad teacher to support this.
Re: Chat Thread 35: If It Doesn't Exist, Then It Will Be Mad
It is ill-adivsed to counter gibes with violence. Best to avoid conflict altogether.

Heh ... while I'm of the opinion that some people could use a good punch in the face, you don't want to be the one who throws the first punch.

It's a habit picked up out of boredom and as such it won't last very long, eventually I'll get bored of it and move on to something else.

You know, after two years of getting pushed around by those guys, I had enough of it. Say what you will, but in my case, violence solved my problems. But I am on my final warning, one more fight, and I'm kicked out of metal fabrications, none of my classmates are worth that.

fighting is a two way penalty. both teams are a member short for 5 minutes.
If I recall correctly. I do, right?

Who says anything about fighting? Being on the receiving end of an illegal check wouldn't result in a penalty.RandomGeekNamedBrent wrote:fighting is a two way penalty. both teams are a member short for 5 minutes.

If you can make hte other team afraid to go into the corners/after the puck you'll usually win.
That and violence has a way of galvanizing a team.
Brent you are indeed correct.
And sleet I've thrown alot of illegal checks, yes you get penalized, but you also either scare the other team or make them so foccused on getting back at you that they forget about the game.

Seth, I just got through a movie I have a feeling you would like, its called Slap Shot, sooo funny. But its so violent, vulgar, rude, indecent, and generally offensive (I got offended at the gay bashing past the first 1 1/2 hour) so I really can't put up much of a review here. But one of the actors, Newman I think his name is, looked like Clint Eastwood does now.
Related note, the best western movie ever made in my opinion is Pale Rider, check it out sometime.

Slapshot is one of my favorite movies (and the best hockey movies of all time, it really captures the lockerroom dynamic plus y'know the Hansons,Ogelthorpe ect.)
I communicate with my dad almost exclusively in Slapshot and napolean dynamite quotes.

I prefer western honestly, and stories structure, and interesting characters that don't have to rely on the idea that they are awesome, and they actually have meaningful dialogue. Sorry, my inner critic gets out sometimes.

Napolean Dynamite has brilliant dialouge
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUoyioYE ... re=related
I think it's really impressive that they made such a successful movie without a coherent story and on next to no budget.
but to each his/her own I guess.

One of my biggest issues with the movie was that there was no one to associate with. I don't like movies without a straight man.

Yep, that trope. When every single character is in some way ridiculous, it annoys me.Wanderer wrote:Straight man?
Sometimes a variable straight man can be pulled off, where there is no one character who is the straight man at all times, but it's usually tough. Spongebob is a good example of it done right.
