really? they just gave your class a chance to dress up as anything while the other classes were limited? that hardly seems fair.

My friend and I dressed up as each other once. In other words, we switched seats and refused to answer to anything but each other's name.

Today for the first time in my life i scheduled my own dentist appointment. Considering i got rehired on my job, i had to remind him he can start taking my benefits again. That, and i still got one blasted cavity to fill.

What i found funny is it's booked for Halloween. I don't plan on getting candy, but the idea of walking into a dentist shop as a Medic or Demoman was awesome. Too bad it won't happen, but it was funny nonetheless.

I don't know if they're broadcasting it (but they SHOULD!) but I'm going to be listening to the CD myself.

Obviously everyone in 1938 had the mentality of a 7 year old.

To be fair, we're a lot more desensitized to not only sci fi stories, but also, you know, radio. I think that it came over the radio gave it a lot more authority in people's minds than if Welles (not Wells) had just been standing on the street corner yelling the story.

Or maybe not, I don't know, I haven't studied this.

Also if you're one of those people that hasn't been here in years you should drop in and say buongiorno* at least, someone's bound to recognize you.

*Or "hello" if you want to be less cool

Actually most people recognized it for what it was--but over a million bought into it. Didn't help that 1) they missed the first announcement that it was just a dramatization, 2) they evacuated before they could hear the second, and 3) a power outage happened JUST as they said in the broadcast that the Martians were attacking power cables.

That's actually why Welles did it, because he thought they were trusting TOO much in whatever came out of that box.

So I suppose you could say it was a public service.
Or maybe the Martians went back in time to retcon history so that HG Wells would write a book that just happened to be exactly the same as what would happen in 1938 as a cover up for their invasion. Because they had a time machine.

(I've never actually read War of the Worlds so I'm probably going to say something stupid in the process of discussing it.)

And of no relation to anything, lookit dem fancy flash ads.

Sophomores got Valentine's day

Also the freshmen class color is brown, sophomore color is pink.

I was just pointing out that you could dress as Uncle Sam, Cupid, or Santa and still be in the spirit of halloween, while the other classes were stuck to that one holiday.

I like showing my (currently nonexistent) mate that I love him/her every day, rather than just one day it's expected for one or both of us to spend money just to prove that to each other.

Our class color is black, which is I suppose marginally more interesting than white, which belongs to another one of the years, but still.

People use this argument all the time, and it really bugs me.

Show people you love them every day. cool. Good idea. But having a special occasion to use as an excuse for being EXTRA obnoxious is awesome. And love is a pretty awesome thing, so it DEFINITELY deserves a holiday in my opinion. More than Halloween at least. I mean, of course you should love people every day, because that's awesome. But I mean, Christmas is awesome too, and no one says "pff Christmas is stupid we should be accepting and merry all year round and give each other presents whenever we can"

I actually think some people do say that.
CaptainPea wrote:Our class color is black, which is I suppose marginally more interesting than white, which belongs to another one of the years, but still.
at my school, the Seniors got black, Juniors got yellow, Sophomores got green, and freshmen got white. usually, class color day was on Friday, the day of the pep rally, but they changed it last year because apparently the classes got too competitive with each other when we should have come together as a school, so they moved class color day to Wednesday and told us to all wear green on Friday.

my class didn't like them messing with the tradition we had been looking forward to for 3 years, so they wore pink on class color day, and on Friday they wore black under their green, and removed the green during the pep rally.

too bad the underclassmen decided they wanted to rebel too and started wearing class colors other than their own.

The problem is this day cannot be avoided. Valentine's Day is every year and you cannot get out of it without looking like a jerk (unless you're single, in which case it's frustrating for other reasons). As such, anything special your significant other does for you kind of seems a lot less special when they're doing it out of obligation from a holiday, rather than from their heart.

Alright, I'll solve that right now:

All people stupid enough to get hung up on the conventions of valentines day and worry about "am I being sincere?" this and "am I doing enough?" that are no longer allowed to have a boy/girlfriend.
