That's what I meant by their execution was different. I like the Fairly OddParents more in retrospect (or I guess not retrospect, if they're still making more), and I'll agree that it kind of lost steam, mostly in how mean spirited it got.Sleet wrote:Well, you can't prove I have a gender, I suppose. You're allowed your theories. The humor style was very different, though. I greatly prefered Fairly Oddparents for this reason (though it's seriously gone downhill).CaptainPea wrote:Haven't seen much of that one, but if it bears similarity to the film, it's probably in a similar range. The only major divergence would be the whole anthropomorphic animal thing, but as I recall they try to hide that, so that works.Sleet wrote:That's very true, really. It's one of the less surreal Nickelodeon cartoons of the oughties. More recently, Penguins of Madagascar is pretty "realistic", too.
But yeah, Jimmy Neutron and Fairly OddParents essentially had the same premise. The execution was just so radically different that nobody noticed and they managed to run parallel each other as sort of sister shows.
Also, it was funnier when Timmy was smarter than both Cosmo and Wanda. Making Wanda a stuck up know-it all who all but hates her husband just doesn't work as well, and Timmy should be the more down to Earth because he is from Earth.
