I like to think that the celebs in question actually just play the protagonists and King never pays any attention to the films themselves until they're about to end.

For a point of view to another, you two are somehow right, Fox and King. 
A villain is a villain and must be defeated, and the hero who defeats it is the celebrity who has to take the scene, it's simple. 
Nice random scene with these old friends, anyway.

For anybody who is interested in King's opinion, the trope that he is talking about is called The Cavalry and it happens almost ALL the time in media.

King is the type of dog that has to think about everything that he is seen to the last detail so it borderlines on obsession. I doubt medication will be able to help him.
