Eudoants first Real Emotion since his appearance.
The worldbuilding is nice too.

I'd be tempted to snarkily say "don't make a simple answer complicated" but I'm pretty sure that would get me blown up.

There is no strength without suffering
in the army of the darkness.
But it’s you that suffers, not them
is the truth that they won’t express.
Taking their strength from the remnants
of the dark side of the lost mind;
reaming it for hatred and fear
and other loathsome things they find.
Keep goading the Demon, Steward,
get him to tell you his whole plan.
You just might make a new hero
out of what was a loathsome man...
in the army of the darkness.

Admittedly, she hasn't shown a lot of flashy magic(k) powers so far. But I suspect that demons are indeed dangerous, otherwise the celestials wouldn't freak out so much about one showing up on Earth.
Re: 2021/02/10 - First Law Of Thermodemonics
Are you sure you have magic(k) powers? Cause I’ve got a bet going Eudoant.

Re: 2021/02/10 - First Law Of Thermodemonics
Interesting seeing Steward looking disappointed in the third panel. He actually seems to be thinking "Maybe this deal wasn't all that it was cracked up to be."
I could also be wrong, but the way Eudoant is talking, the magic(k) that demons have is very basic and simple in stark contrast to what Celestials have (i.e a demon could make a pebble while a Celestial could make a whole mountain range).

The strip has made several references to mortal magic, though we only really see it in a gag when Tarot gets a new crystal tablet that gets caught updating. If I had to guess, demon magic would be more powerful than mortal magic. If I had to guess why they aren't using magic, presumably demonic spells and rituals are the type of thing that let Celestials pin-point them and they haven't finished constructing the demon lair yet.

Re: 2021/02/10 - First Law Of Thermodemonics
That makes more sense. Usually to summon a demon, you need to do a overly-long ritual involving tons of steps (Or, in some cases, just building a house over a certain burial ground) while Celestials just show up (kind of like Gandalf).Leotamer wrote: ↑Wed Feb 10, 2021 8:43 am The strip has made several references to mortal magic, though we only really see it in a gag when Tarot gets a new crystal tablet that gets caught updating. Cerberus did mention that they can be found if they used their powers. He’s just biding his time.

Plus, it follows that, if Heaven is a place of utter paradise, where Mortals have to do absolutely nothing as it's all done for them, then Pandemonium should be precisely the opposite with Mortals suffering to do it all.

Steward. I know you haven't actually been to Heck, but...maybe you should be more scared of Eudoant than you are right now.

Steward sure did look really disappointed that it seemed like Eudoant didn’t have any special magic(k) powers to help out. Let us just see how fast his joy goes to fear when Eudoant uses them.

Steward needs to stop badgering Eudoant.
I’m sorry.

He has magic(k) powers, Steward, don't let him use them against you... That's an interesting description of what demons are. They're just creatures developed by parts unwanted by the Heaven, the disease of the celestials... Must be though, but you exist also to give them a purpose, after all.

Who knew that demons could have emotions and weren't just blank faces that only made sure to torture condemned souls?

That or his mind blocked it out because he was so traumatized by however long he spent down there.

The Third Law of Thermodemonics - Demons do not normally accept valentines. This law, however, is not known to have ever been tested.

Pretty sure if it were to be tested the giver of the Valentine would be smited before they even knew what was going on.
Re: 2021/02/10 - First Law Of Thermodemonics
Demons are flakes of souls left behind,
The corrupted husks from the grind,
And they corrupt what they touch.
And they touch very very much.
Heaven wants nothing to do with it,
They'd really rather forget,
And heck's power's more than a trick,
Instead, it's pure magic(k).
All energy is churned and reused,
Some of it ends up corrupted and bruised,
And strength, Eudoant tells Steward, irate
Isn't parlor trickery, it's great!

You're a wonderful person! You can do this! Yes, you, person reading this!

True but people tend to like to push it as far to the limit as they can and I have to admit I might be one of them.
