Poor Marion. I think he just assumed everything was going to be paid with Milton money. Now he's getting desperate. I suspect this will lead to some poor choices down the line.

Lana, my sweet, there is one place
you know of that won’t help your goal.
The last time 'he' involved himself
with you, he almost lost his soul.
So Foxes are legal ‘out east’?
Has anyone told the trickster?
Karishad and citizenship
could be an explosive mixture.
Who will come up with the idea
that breaks this hideous impasse?
No matter what the answer is
I think it’ll be quite a gas...

I wonder how the coin decides which animal to transform you into... Because some people are more... in an unadvantage position than others

so confirmed species that get citizenship: Foxes & tanukis (Japan), and Aye-Ayes (Madagascar).
Luck of the draw, I'd imagine. Some folks get the short stick; in Marion's case, literally.
Re: 2020/10/23 - The Aye Ayes Have It (Citizenship)
I'm imagining the Inari shrines actually being run by foxes. Bet they're all sick of sushi by now
Re: 2020/10/23 - The Aye Ayes Have It (Citizenship)
This is going to end in creating an Animal University, isn't it?
I'd argue they all are, and if it's not purely random, that may be the method: what'll inconvenience them the most?

I wonder if Marion ever thought about trying for an online college.

Whatever he wants his degree in, it may not be available online.

True, there's that. Still wouldn't hurt for him to check it out, just to be on the safe side, you know?

If they can't get that, it might be an idea to found their own.

Re: 2020/10/23 - The Aye Ayes Have It (Citizenship)
Rick clearing up the exceptions and issues at hand in these last two pages has been fun. I do love when things have logical explanations.
My guess is that Marion's last big bet is the law that's supposed to be put in place in River Ridge County in a few days that gives him and every other ex-human and animal equal citizenship with humans. I just don't see him losing hope on this just yet; he's quite the fighter and willing to exhaust as many options as possible, as we've seen. My guess is that Dino Demon and Steward will raise enough heck somehow to where the passing of the law gets stopped. Then Marion will declare that this means war.
Also, on a more emotional note, Marion exploring all his college options and continuing to come up short or hit roadblocks in what he wants to do is cutting deep for me. It's reminding me of 2018 when I was nastily stressed out, running around town, and emailing as many people as possible trying to get straight answers, get things straightened out, and swap majors so I could pursue the degree that, two years later, I'm super-close to attaining now. I've been enjoying Marion's story a lot and know that whatever toughness he faces, he's destined for a happy ending that he's gonna earn.

With the right community, getting into a webcomic at the beginning of a brand new arc can feel just as enjoyable and rewarding as being there from the beginning.

I wouldn't call an Aye-aye a convenient body, however many benefits the government might give you.

Turning into a camel or zebra or other quadraped has to be more disadvantageous than becoming another bipedal species. At the very least Marion can still use technology, even if it's more difficult. A zebra can't even use a phone and walk at the same time, assuming their hooves would work with a touchscreen.
And god knows what they do when they need the toilet...
Re: 2020/10/23 - The Aye Ayes Have It (Citizenship)
Well, if your passion is running (or your job is), a zebra or a horse wouldn't be too much of a problem, and you could conceivably get by with voice-activated and speech-to-text systems (though if your passion is running, maybe you don't care about technology that much). Such a person would probably get turned into the worst animal possible for running, under this logic (not sure what it would be, maybe a tortoise or a dolphin)VeryAngryDeer wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 10:18 amTurning into a camel or zebra or other quadraped has to be more disadvantageous than becoming another bipedal species. (edit: maybe not a dolphin. Pete may be a troll, but i don't think he's a murderer)

Re: 2020/10/23 - The Aye Ayes Have It (Citizenship)
Alright, they went at Lana's place, which maybe is at their manor. Wow, the situation is getting so desperate for poor Marion... The tanuki they're talking about is Itsuki, who was an university student who got serious troubles. Make all those changes isn't worth to get a citizenship, also because they'll make a cute squirrel ugly. I hope a solution will happen, considering that Marion wants to remain a student like he was as human...

I'm getting the feeling that Marion is getting close to giving up soon. All of these knock backs cannot really be easy and must be taking a toll. Not that I want him to give up though.
Re: 2020/10/23 - The Aye Ayes Have It (Citizenship)
if the ferrets don't find a way, Lois will. I'm still pretty confident in the power of Milton money. If they can't get Marion into a school through the normal administrative process, maybe they could endow a chair and have Marion appointed to fill it.Amazee Dayzee wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 2:37 pm I'm getting the feeling that Marion is getting close to giving up soon. Don't think that Marion will be too thrilled because him being on the board doesn't necessarily mean he can still go to classes.

Don't matter what door gets you in. Once your in the building and seated at the table of power, you can devise your own menu.Amazee Dayzee wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 4:35 am Don't think that Marion will be too thrilled because him being on the board doesn't necessarily mean he can still go to classes.

A restaurant? You know. On of those places that you go to when you want to eat somewhere and dine in? They have a pre-determined menu? Some haven't been doing good since the Coronavirus but hopefully they will start to bounce back soon?

A tanuki can get in,
Well, that's a win,
But wait, not Marion?
The guy just can't win.
They can make this plan work,
But let's add another quirk,
Things aren't going according to plan,
Marion isn't going to Japan.
There are places where squirrels have rights
That don't mean getting into court fights
But that's across the sea, it's really far,
What's the place? Madagascar...
