Title Text: "okay, what if we start a society on an island but don't allow people to just stockpile entire armies worth of weapons"

Similar point as Sabrina, but for a very different reason.

Personally, after Lord of the Flies, I'm not too keen on new island societies. Any yeah, not much liquid capital, as discussed a couple pages ago.

Yeah, Keene could adopt Tony Bennett's 1957 hit, "In The Middle of an Island", great song about running away to an island of your own, just you and your lover. Was a huge hit the summer I was eleven and enduring lots of down pours at Boy Scout Camp Carpenter.

Lord of The Flies is a retelling of a hypothetical in Hobbes' Leviathan, adapted for a more modern, younger audience. However, around that time, there was a competing book that said if humans were dropped on a deserted island, they'd create a social structure and live in peace until an outside force came by to disturb it. This, in fact, was what actually happened around the time Lord of the Flies was published. But, as always, people prefer the more spectacular, more morbid, more theatrical story.

Ironically, Scrooge's money bin is canonically not for spending. In the original books, they were mementos: every dollar's worth or so of coins being a memory if an important adventure, business venture, or purchase. A separate vault that is for spending appears in his first on-screen appearance, and is "filled and emptied every day", but he doesn't swim in it, and he boasts about how much more he has in banks and stocks and assets.

Keene is an hereditary billionaire, yeah, but keeping spending, sooner or later his money could come to an end.

Good he has other businesses for other money entries, but indeed, the ECP is only maintained due to his own money. Liquidate them can't be a fully good idea, and it's worrying that there are some who even spend money to try to ruin your plans...

Uhm, from that reply, I guess Marion's idea isn't good at all.

I wonder where they're going now, though.

Might depend on the degree he wants. We'd only know yet what he wants to study, but it seems plausible that its something unusual or technical.

I wonder if he's trying to study something related to his transformation. Some archeology field or unusual ancient languages.

It can't be too technical since his new size would preclude him from being able to do a lot of hands-on work or even to lift the tools up so he would have given up on that.

Then again, he still thought he could drive his car (which looked like a third generation Buick Regal) so who knows what his thinking is?

I wasn't thinking of technical in a sense of like working on large machines, but more that it was a job that required certain specfic education. Think something like architecture, which can be done with computers for the most part, or astronomy, which is also largely computerized. The specific education may not be at every college.

I still think it's going to be something related strongly to his current circumstances. He's going for either something related to his transformation, like ancient languages, or his current form, perhaps like vetinary science.

Hopefully, we will get a hint soon.

Not really. They weren't orange soda, but orange juice mixed with ice and some other stuff to make it something like a smoothie, only with a thinner consistency.
