[2018/10/31 - Terrible Consequences]
Title Text: and not like even the video FROM The Ring, just The Ring. Not even Ringu!

Well, it IS seasonally appropriate.

Douglas isn't my real name, but because of a name block put on me by a higher-order being known as Djinni, I can't say my real name.

They should've just shrugged and invited Sabrina and Tarot anyways. Not like they got much going on that night either...

Also, as awesome as their Costumes were, I believe they should've switched.

Woot! I called The Ring back when they first got the disc.

Well, ok, I made an off-hand comment that referenced The Ring, but I'll take it. :P

Also, apparently they've seen it before?

I don’t know how I feel about this. It the combination of everything I’ve been saying for the last few weeks so I was right? Oh well, it’s over and on the appropriate day. Whoo hoo?

Anyway, that giant bag of candy though. Grape seriously robbed that video store blind didn’t she.

I watched the Ring once. It was so confusing and really dumb. BTW.

I feel like Peanut’s expression in that last scene is the perfect representation for the entire chapter.

Yeah, this was all just a quick troll arc. Well played, Rick.

Kinda unfortunate though. We'll likely be going back to focusing on King, Keene, Fox, or one of the other characters after this. I'd kinda like to have a full and proper arc focusing on Peanut and Grape. It's like they've been demoted to side characters these days.

We all got trolled. Peanut got trolled. Grape got trolled. The entire viewership got trolled. I feel like this is Ricks payback for the harsh things said about the last chapter.

They had a big roll at the beginning of Temple Crashers then they did get sidelined by Keene and Tarot by the end which did kinda suck.

Logic is twisted on Halloween night,
given the chance it recoils in spite.
It twists and shrieks and writhes around,
wriggling as chaos and darkness abound.
Nothing strikes fear like the unknown,
a song to be sung, a show to be shown.
Nothing mystifies quite like a puzzle;
a bend of the ear, a growl on the muzzle.
Split up the team, don’t call your friends
for then it won’t strike and fear never ends.
Things only move when you’re all alone
so take it out and don’t bring it home...

I've never seen The Ring myself. Is the "HAHAHAH..." from the beginning of the movie or is it coming from an outside source indicating the disc was cursed after all?

You know what I just realized is how strange their feet look. It’s not a bad thing and I’m not judging them but Their paws are so unique. Like compared to all the other comics I read, these characters don’t have hindlimbs/haunches. It’s just legs.

Don't know if that's the way Rick "rolls" but maybe that's the way Rick "trolls"...

Really enjoyed seeing Peanut and Grape together again on their own. Not that the big stories aren't terrific, but it's nice to see those two themselves once in a while.

I saw "The Ring" once but it wasn't memorable enough for me to remember if maniacal laughter was part of the movie. But what I think is that it's supposed to be the creepy unibrow guy (or spirit?) at the video store enjoying his joke on P & G.
King looks an awful lot like my own Corgi. That's one reason why he's my favorite, but I also like his attitude.

Oh, Grape still thinks that the DVD is definitely cursed, but at the end, you're watching it. :P That sounds a good idea, Grape, but maybe Sabrina and Tarot wouldn't be happy to face a such scary thing. ;) So, it's just a copy of The Ring movie? And, is it appropriate for your age to watch? The entire arc story has been weird, anyway. :P

There is something I've been thinking about today. We know from the first Halloween that the pets do go Trick or Treating but what is that like? Do houses have a second pile of candy or treats that are safe for pets? Judging from what they did get back in 2008 I doubt it. I wonder what the people think when random animals in costumes show up at their doors.

So what you're saying is you want to see more haunches in the comic ;).

This is a minor point, but we at least know that the movie was on a disc and not a VHS. Even if Peanut and Grape couldn't recognize the difference, a VHS physically would not fit in a DVD player.

I would imagine pets trick-or-treating would be a normal occurrence in that universe. Even if not elsewhere, Babylon Gardens is a very pet-friendly neighborhood. In addition to the first one, there were also instances of pets trick-or-treating in 2009, 2013, and 2014. When you think about it, random animals dressed in costumes showing up at your door asking for candy isn't that different from random kids dressed as animals showing up at your door asking for candy. The chocolate from the first year could represent that one house that always puts the bare minimum into Halloween, while still being a step up from lights out (or it could be a one-off with no bearing, who knows).

Since it's a serious question, Game, the answer is "sorta". We have a dog so there is always a box of milkbones handy (small dog size). We had a pretty good number of T-or-Ts and four or five dogs in tow. (The fast-food neighbor kids have a pair of Scotties - yup, one black and one white like whiskey dogs.) we hand the great to the leash holder so they decide when Fido gets the cookie, not us.

I do wonder if the revelers circulate with the appropriate small plastic bag in case Puppet leaves a "trick" of his own, they can clean up after him... Maybe that's an "old guy" preoccupation...

Regards ;) .

Next Wenesday's strip features Peanut and Grape still watching the movie.

I'm almost happy the video didn't invole Joey and Squeak.
