I just had an interesting thought.

When Keene met his mother in Heaven, it was noted that her stay there had mellowed her out and improved her as a ferret. I imagine this is the same case with Breel, which leads to the question, what flaws of character did Breel have while he was still alive, that he has since managed to smooth out in his time in Heaven? What sorts of mistakes did he make back then?

I guess the fact that he died from being hit by a train is a hint. He had to have been doing something reckless and very stupid. In the HP universe, even wild animals are smart enough to know about the dangers of vehicles, so Breel should have known better.

I think he's crying because saying it out loud really hit home for him that his desire for an easy way to accomplish his dream almost lost Breel forever.

There is nobility to this, though I do wonder if Keene would be as contrite were it that somebody with whom he didn't share such an emotional connection had been the one to suffer for this gambit of his. I hope so!

But after seeing that line, 'any sacrifice,' it did make me ponder just where the cut-off lingers. It rings a little ruthless, which I hope is just big talk that stems from a simple ignorance of the fact.
