OK, so this one's a little different! Welcome to the first interactive Housepets! installment. You may download 12 Days of Housepets! from itch.io to play it on your computer or watch it (but lose some control) via YouTube. Have fun, y'all, and Merry Christmas!

I watched the web version, how do you make the download executable (windows)? I don't have the JRE or any programming tools installed on this system.

What do you mean? The executable is in the zip file. You just need to extract it an keep the file structure intact.

By the way, the resource folder of the downloaded game has a HUGE amount of full body character pngs, so that's useful too!

I've said it everywhere else and I'll say it again here: This was by far one of the funniest and best looking works to come from Housepets! in my opinion. I had no idea what to expect going into it but was bloody floored by the level of quality of, well, basically everything! The sprites/idles were super clean, the animation (little that there was but still quite more than I was expecting) was smooth and aided so much with the visual gags, and the writing and pacing of everything was so funny and sudden at times that I actually laughed out loud at multiple parts! There isn't many things that can make me do that and I'm so glad this was one of those things.

I always imagined how a more real time Housepets! scenario would play out, but I certainly wasn't expecting it to flow THIS well with the medium! You really took advantage of the power of the visual novel maker and used it to the fullest here, Rick, splendid job!

Huh, weird. For some reason when I attempted making an Android build, it replaced my Windows build despite me not telling it to do that. Anyway, the link should work properly now.

It was fun to watch. I think the comic would be fun seeing it animated like this, but at the same time it's time consuming. Would be nice to see it used again some other way

Wow, thanks Rick! You never disappoint at Christmas time. I was laughing a lot. The Bino - Duchess gags got me almost every round.

FYI, I'm trying to gauge right now if Housepets is appropriate for my 5-year-old niece. She's getting into old Calvin and Hobbes and Garfield comics.

A not-chocolate soak sounds pretty nice, actually.

The OSX download version doesn't work for me though (on macOS version 10.13.2). When I run "Game", it opens an all-black window. Under the Window menu, there's a Devtools, and if I open that and view the Console, there's an error:

at Object.fs.writeFileSync (fs.js

Apparently it's trying to write its settings file inside the app's directory, but OSX doesn't allow that; settings need to be written in the user's directory. (Windows equivalent would be trying to write the settings in C:\Program Files (x86)\whatever instead of C:\Users\Dahan\AppData\whatever)

That's exactly what struck me too. This diversity is surely one of the principal things that makes HP so special.

I wasn't at all sure what to expect from Christmas HP this year, but it certainly wasn't this! A hugely enjoyable start to my Christmas morning; thank you, Rick. And I do appreciate the insane amount of work that must have gone into this.

Hmm. Keep thinking of Twelve Paydays of Christmas. Then again, it's because I actually found that funny... Or it may be just me.

I mean, I thought Bino was the Regifter? Sure he would have changed to fit Duchess' spoiled habits, but why is Peanut the one who thinks giving old junk to another is 'Romantic' or 'Chirstmassy'? I thought he would have tried making something by hand if he couldn't afford anything?

Then again, Maxwell was rather shoddy about his... At least Peanut bought something, even if it is old junk... Still think the Pointer could have at least made something, rather than toss old junk at Tarot. Would have had the same effect as the Beanbag chair if he made one of the objects too big... Unless he was being Passive Aggressive to Tarot.

Also, HAH! Hope Mungo knew to Book it when Bino trashed the wall. That Wolf-girl's on Helga Levels of Stalker with a Crush.
