Choose wisely Peanut.

Woa, so you didn't have a bag for yourself and you still entered the temple ? Brave.
Re: 2017/08/04 - Good Idea On Paper
You can become a god Peanut! You can manipulate that temple to do your bidding. You can be a very powerful being (until you step outside of the temple, of course).
Or, you can stick to your original plan.
Your choice.

The author’s not a coward,
taking the lead position
as Grape finds her ‘Nut
and asks the question of tradition.
Peanut shows his smarts,
refusing to tempt that fate.
Explaining it to Grape, though,
he admits the tempt is great.
Rufus is just dead cool,
Happy and hiding his hands.
It sets him apart from the cats -
their arms are covered in bands!

I'm not sure he wants to find out how the temple reacts to godmoding either.

Yeah, that is a smart move peanut. I'm still wondering if the paper hat will become important or is it a red herring
But I must say, I love the second panel the most. It's very well done

Well this opens the field pretty wide with what Peanut could choose. I really have no idea what he could want to be at this point.

IF COURSE PEANUT DOES THE GENRE-SAVVY THING.
How could I have doubted him.

Oh, that's not good, Tarot had to. Yeah, choose your role carefully. It's weird see a so responsible Peanut. Eheh, awesome idea, Grape, but Peanut's doubt on that is legit. So... Come on, that's easy for you! Choose to be your superhero!

If Peanut can be anything he wants, why can't he be Spot and fly and carry everyone up, back to the entrance?
Also, when he looks at the bag, Peanut's eyes have a weird shape.

I imagine it has to be some sort of fantasy class. I think he realizes "overpowered superhero" isn't an option.

Hmmmm, if Peanut took the predictable route he'd probably choose Spot but if he takes the smart route,. he'd probably choose medic. Or he could pick something entirely different. The suspense is killing me!

Not necessarily... most systems have a High-Skill-Growth class that would make a passable engineer.Argent wrote:If Trek characters count, Spot counts.Sleet wrote:I imagine it has to be some sort of fantasy class. I think he realizes "overpowered superhero" isn't an option.
Most important thing I've learned from D&D?
No matter how tempting it may be, as a DM I can't both present a problem and solve it.
Every time a DMPC or NPC fixes something a payer couldn't i'm diminishing and undermining that player's contribution.

Re: 2017/08/04 - Good Idea On Paper
Well, we at least see Peanut using some Common Sense and Genre Savviness well enough here, as well as telling us he wouldn't want to be OP'd... Like Spot (Superdog). Also, Tarot's warning about hats was likely meaning that taking it off while in the Temple would permanently remove their abilities and would render any more abilities useless, since the Temple would consider their role in the 'Game' forfeit.
...And if that's not the case, it would mean permanent loss of their original selves, like maybe if they do, they get their personalities booted out and replaced with whatever relevant Personality that's closest to it, e.g. Max getting his mind replaced by a Deceased Ninja, Dallas being replaced by a Star Trek Engineer/Security Officer, the possibilities could go on.
Of course, I doubt the latter theory's likely. It would be too dark of a Story and would be very disturbing for a Light Hearted Comic that focuses on Slice of Life. Also, Pete made the temple, and it's been shown multiple times that while he was a Jerk, it's mostly because he was terrified of becoming Mortal and actually cares about them to a certain degree.
I likely suspect that he was that nasty to King, because while he was good at hiding it, he was actually panicking at running out of time, since Spirit Dragon had basically gained too much of a Foothold and would have won over him anyway if it weren't for King breaking the duel later down the line. I mean, Pete being sealed in his own temple meant he could do nothing but wait, while Spirit Dragon was free to play around with Mortals, cheating at several points.
While he lost in the end anyway, Dragon didn't win either, so it was a draw. Point I'm making is that while Pete's temple is dangerous, the Golems and monsters were at the very least not actually trying to kill anyone. Injuring is one thing, but they just kicked out Keene when he went in alone after giving him a beating, when they could have killed him. Pete likely created them to work that way. Injure, but not kill.
So yeah, getting personalities booted out and replaced would be too cruel for Pete to actually implement.
Spot (Superdog) has Lasers, Super Durability, flight, super strength, super speed, Magical invulnerability (Thanks to him having the 'Body of Atlas')... Yeah. Too Overpowered, and his only weakness is a Grey Space Rock that the temple wouldn't even know about. That goes beyond 'Gamebreaker' and straight into 'God Mode Cheater'.

No he wouldn't. Dallas is an Engineer/Security officer. He's not Q, has no real superpowers, and the only weapon he has, is his Phaser. Defense wise, he would only have a Shield system that can only take so much damage before he's left vulnerable to attack... If he even has one. If not, he'll go down like a an anvil dropped from the sky if he's too slow to dodge.Argent wrote:If Trek characters count, Spot counts.Sleet wrote:I imagine it has to be some sort of fantasy class. Pete's temple could have Orphanite.
Considering that Pete has knowledge of who Peanut is, it's possible he foresaw a possible scenario he would fight Peanut's Spot personality and already had something ready for him just incase he went Spot on his temple.
Spot is a class in himself as a Hero or Superhero.

The temple is said to be in "Adventure Mode".
The visible trappings are typical of the fantasy, but as Dallas said...
There's nothing that says they have to choose fantasy classes.

So something like Spider Man Dog would be fine. Or how about a fantasy-theme superhero like Doctor Strange or Zatanna.

I'd say that only applies to some sci-fi. Star Wars yes, Star Trek less so.

Yes, those can work. Nothing OP'd like Spot (Superdog), and they'd still be strong on a Non-Game Breaking level.Argent wrote:So something like SpiderManDog would be fine. Or how about a fantasy-theme superhero like Doctor Strange or Zatanna.

Star Trek is fantasy. They have FTL travel and communications, basically instantaneous, and they don't use it to send messages back in time? I CALL SHENANIGANS!
But neither Trek or Star Wars is "fantasy theme".

That "literal God" one might be beyond the game's bounds what with Pete and Dragon being only Demigods themselves.... Anyone else think he is gonna surprise us all by not going with "Superhero" and picking something super out there and unexpected?

If so, they're not OP'd. They can still be hurt, they can still bleed, and thus, have to rely on skill and their powers to stay alive/unharmed.
Spot can't. Not without that Grey rock.
