This is one smar, loved, old man
that Keene thinks he's let down;
the hug is returned with humility,
the smile is returned with a frown.
It hasn't been easy on Earth,
fighting hard with ladles of cash;
taking little time for fun himself;
is it any wonder he came to crash?
His dad may have his way back;
he alludes to such a thing here.
but he has to make his son lighten
if he's going back without fear..
Fear of failure is Keenes' curse;
he needs to have fun to hit reverse.

Aww, Keene's face in the second panel. ^^ *Wants to give him a hug but knows it would be creepy since we don't really know each other*
Douglas isn't my real name, but because of a name block put on me by a higher-order being known as Djinni, I can't say my real name.

I have one question: does that "less than you might think" refer to him being dead or his plans being derailed. or both? or, much less likely due to context, neither?

Re: 2016/05/27 - Father Art In Heaven
Well, conversation-wise it only makes sense if Henry said "Less than you might think" after "That kinda derails plans". So it surely refers to that part. To know for certain if he did or did not mean that about Keene being dead as well...? We'd have to wait, really.RandomGeekNamedBrent wrote:I have one question: does that "less than you might think" refer to him being dead or his plans being derailed. or both? or, much less likely due to context, neither?
Ferretdad didn't said anything directly about it though. EDIT: Unless you count him saying that he understands how hard it *was* (for Keene?) on Earth.
Yep, this arc continues to be a big cliffhanger when it comes to Keene's status as a member of the living.
But I really like Henry.

Re: 2016/05/27 - Father Art In Heaven
My heart sinks for Keene, especially in the second panel, seeing that look of despair, looking into the eyes of the man...err ferret whose legacy he charged himself with fulfilling, with financial strength and influence on his side, whos shadow he pretty much lived under, and yet feeling like he had let him down, and that his work was for nothing. In a way i know how he feels, to have good intentions and not having things work out.
Poor Keene.....

Alright new plan. Keene is dead BUT he gets brought back to life and Breel does too.
Problem solved, everyone is happy.

Yeh, he kind of did. "Well, I'm dead." "Less than you might think."Nameless coyote wrote:Well...

There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead.

At first I was going to say that "Less than you might think" may refer to "derailing plans", but you have superior arguments here <.<"...Argent wrote:Yeh, he kind of did. "Well, I'm dead." "Less than you might think."

Oh, I see your point, the order of talk bubbles is kind of ambiguous.

And I do see yours. I've read Keene's speech bubble as a whole, but Henry's answer, vertically, is indeed sort of in between those two sentences. So it's hard to tell.Argent wrote:Oh, I see your point, the order of talk bubbles is kind of ambiguous.
I feel "less than you might think" followed by "that kinda derails plans" sounds rather strange, but I've been wrong about this comics so many times I do not plan to be stubborn about it ">_>.
I just really hope we'll get the final answer in the next two-three strips. Assuming the arc ends with the end of year eight, there's less and less space for a conclusion and at this point I wouldn't be surprised if "The 4 animals..." got a follow-up.
What could possibly go wrong...?

The most likely way for this to end is with the "WAKE UP" schtick. Standard celestial policy.

It's not too hard when you think about the first and second panels having no time between them.Nameless coyote wrote:And I do see yours. Keene: Well, I'm dead. (pause) That kind of derails plans.
Milton: Less than you might think.
Keene: Why? ...
That order makes sense, since Keene asks, "Why," as his response to Mr. Milton's last statement. If you put it the other way:
Keene: Well, I'm dead.
Milton: Less than you might think.
Keene: That kind of derails plans. Why? ...
... it doesn't make much sense at all. If Keene had answered his own question right away it could work, but he doesn't.

The term "actor" has moved into more unisex use as of late. It isn't a male-specific term anymore.Frank wrote:Especially since it should probably be an actressObbl wrote:

I still can't get over how cute it is that Mr. Milton wanted to be a ferret like his "kids". ^^

Re: 2016/05/27 - Father Art In Heaven
What a question you reserve him, Henry. Poor Keene, he's still convinced to be dead and feels to have failed the work. But, he's also right about Heaven... Come on Henry, that "meager" billions of dollars isn't enough to get what you wish. Keene learned this, finally... You know things that Keene doesn't know, Henry, say them!
Re: 2016/05/27 - Father Art In Heaven
Certainly sounds like Mr. Milton already had things squared away before his time. Now does Keene have anything to do with it, i wonder?
One of the best things is exposition from the parents side of things. Poor Keene can't keep up with the human plans. :3

Well, considering his human relatives you can't really blame him for leaving everything to those ones who actually loved him.Obbl wrote:Still considered eccentric even in this universeRetto-the-Otter wrote:...In a world where said ferrets are sentient.Macsen wrote: Ya think? Well Keenes not dead... At least we finally got our answer.
"Well i'm dead" - "Less than you might think" - "That kinda derails plans"
Unless i'm reading that wrong... I only just saw how the last two lines could also be inverted depending on how you read it.

Re: 2016/05/27 - Father Art In Heaven
Welp...my despair worsens since it STILL looks like Keene is dead, and the dead don't do much of anything in this comic until soemone else either goes to "heaven" for a visit or dies themselves and becomes a perminant resident.
Kind of worried Rick's gonna skip the whole world becoming a better place thing and just make everyone die and go to Heaven since paradise is perfected there...meaning Keene's right...I know that's doubtful but it would be a rather dramatic twist...not one that's likely to happen though knowing Rick's story telling.

I'm going to say that Keene is dead, and was probably killed by some nutjob that was anti pet rights. Keene become a Martyr and the publicity helped push pet rights forward.

He might not kill off all the characters but, like with what happened with the Game, it's entirely possible that he could write off another facet of the story - but with the all the headaches we've probably given him about not seeing Pete and Dragon, I doubt Keene's out of the story.Argent wrote:He'd kind of have to shut down the comic then.
