I'm gonna do the math anyway.
My characters!
I got too many colors to remember. I'll put them here to see. Aren't they nice? Yep! Absolutely!
(There's actually 6 eggs, but I ran out of links)

Why limit yourself to Spanish Class when you could go to Europe and use it everywhere? Honestly that spell would save a lot of time and effort. Although I guess all the translator jobs would be useless, then, if everyone were able to use it at will...King's Men14 wrote:Wow I need one of those spells in Spanish class

I wonder how Satau's going to react when he finds out neither Dragon or Pete won?
Maybe.Dissension wrote:Will Satau be a fan favorite?

Satau seems to be a nice guy, I'm sure he'll take it all in stride.

I can't wait for this arc to get rolling, its going to have a lot of interesting backstory for sure.
Re: 2015/07/24 - Sit For A Spell
Anyone else notice that Tarot is looking sleeker here? I'm glad, I didn't really like the really puffy Tarot from before.
Re: 2015/07/24 - Sit For A Spell
sooo...here we have an apparent zealot. One who may NOT be pleased to learn of Dragon's and Pete's fate, and even the less happy to learn that Dragon wasn't really caring for the world. With some luck, he'll say that he's been happy and honored to be dragon's second boyfriend.
Oh, and Sabrina? Please keep this guy away from King and Bailey. A LOT away. Or perhaps you shouldn't even mention them. yup.

Peanut, please get in the picture
so you can prove you're not sidelined;
Resist the urge to give Tarot the lead
even if you're gentlemanly inclined.
Sabrina has the gift of knowledge
and grants it freely for talks' benefit
as Satau resides inside the arcane;
all he needs to do is kneel or sit.
He has much to catch up on, the ancient,
through so much history he was trapped.
There's so much he needs to know now.
His route to information isn't mapped.
Come, guys, help him back to his temporal place
It'll be easier than explaining Dragon's 'grace'.

I guess I was a bit nit-picky about the last strip - I see no reason to nitpick this one.

King basically managed to convince Sabrina to give up the game (Tarot was already inclined to do so), and his actions caused DS and Pete to get stuck into new lives, powerless. The Game was invalidated and animals as a collective didn't get their happily-ever-after.SuperStar wrote:Why not? I think they'd get along.
Hope Satau will be understanding -and not because of magic
Re: 2015/07/24 - Sit For A Spell
Satau seems like a pretty nice guy, I'm sure he'll take it well. I mean, we can see from this comic that he seems to have originally joined with the Dragon because he wanted animal equality of some sort, and that's already achieved anyway, so I'm sure he'll be more or less okay.

So he is stuck in the present cuz the game finished, since Dragon is not around to do it, maybe Kitsune can return him. I would like to see Kitsune again Still... a part of me wants Satau to stay around instead.
The Temple, the Gargoyles, that Keene's one(1) mana, Zach still being able to cast magic and now Satau, there many loose ends of the game x_X

Re: 2015/07/24 - Sit For A Spell
Aww, no more akkadian?
And the math is simple: (5000 BC + 2015 AD) ÷ (150−2+1) = 47 years average life span per avatar
... + overlap/apprencieship/rearing time
... − time to search for a replacement if one died unforseably (before the replacement could start being trained)
...wait, would that even affect the average?
...I shouldn't be doing math this early in the morning

Yeah, I'm suddenly curious as to how he managed to travel through time like that. His own powers? Definitely a fish out of water, this guy.

I'm guessing that Satau was knocked out of gameplay somehow in order for Dragon to have choosen 148 other avatars after him. Or he could've died - but that wouldn't explain why all of Dragon's other avatars haven't shown up.

Maybe Satau was put in reserve for the grand finale and Dragon forgot about him?

When you put it like that it sounds like King has ruined the hopes and dreams of a powerful Jackal.valerio wrote:King basically managed to convince Sabrina to give up the game (Tarot was already inclined to do so), and his actions caused DS and Pete to get stuck into new lives, powerless. I really want to know more about Keenes mana and the still supernatural happenings of Babylon. But how can Satau still be alive? Is he immortal? Where has he been? Since when can the cosmic nerds time travel? This is going to be a real joy ride.ChekeBello wrote:So he is stuck in the present cuz the game finished, since Dragon is not around to do it, maybe Kitsune can return him. Well, not really, technically: That was all Pete's doing. All the gryphon needed was to be sensible with his avatar, play the card of good PR and ESPECIALLY let King and Bailey stay together in that final fight. He built up the foundations for the end of the Game.Number9Dysonsphere wrote:When you put it like that it sounds like King has ruined the hopes and dreams of a powerful Jackal.valerio wrote:King basically managed to convince Sabrina to give up the game (Tarot was already inclined to do so), and his actions caused DS and Pete to get stuck into new lives, powerless. her old tag was Dragon's symbol, so she kinda had to change.

Man that's sad almost. Imagine how embarrassing it would've been if King and Bailey just did nothing, then he'd have no avatar at all in all of 7000 years,Dissension wrote:Pete was locked in his temple and prevented from obtaining an avatar, making Bailey... his one and only.HundKatzeMaus wrote:Wow the 2nd avatar? I think I might like Satau. He seems nice so far and so handsome too.
I'm glad some of the "magic" is coming back. This will be fun!

The reason for the celestial game ending was because of fan disapproval though. Many readers disliked the magic themed stuff and drama and wanted the comic to pivot back to its original slice-of-life format.Furryface18 wrote:I'm glad some of the "magic" is coming back. This will be fun!
I've nothing against it but I'm sure Rick will be able to strike a nice balance between the two.
Also, I'm guessing that Satau's gonna turn out to be the bad guy of the arc.

AWKWARD!
So either there were gaps where Dragon had no avatar, or avatars live longer than the average pet.
Plus, we're all telepaths thanks to Samsung and Nokia and Motorola and Apple...

Satau seems to be to me like a pretty sweet guy already. and seems to love supporting Spirit dragon's cause. That can go two ways, though, but i'm sure so far he seems like the understanding type. Just look at those expressions :3
On another note - Him and Tarot sniffing each other is adorable. X3

ok, so after many long and complex bits of maths that did all sorts of weird things (including bringing an ancient Egyptian jackal into the present day) I have concluded that the answer is .... 42
Re: 2015/07/24 - Sit For A Spell
well, technically King was his first one in this age, but during the 'dog days of summers' King legaled his way out of Pete's control.Dissension wrote:Pete was locked in his temple and prevented from obtaining an avatar, making Bailey... his one and only.HundKatzeMaus wrote:Wow the 2nd avatar? Also, during the 'trial in heaven' arc, it was clear that at least once between his entrapment and modern times Pete had a human, medieval-looking avatar. I think that it is possible he was at least able to lure someone to his presence into the temple.

Re: 2015/07/24 - Sit For A Spell
I don't believe King officially became Pete's avatar.
My understanding was that the avatar depicted in "The Trial In Heaven" was from a different game than the one in the Housepets! universe.

Oh, yes you are right: During the DDOS arc, Pete tried to convince King into becoming one through unauthorized mind control.Dissension wrote:I don't believe King officially became Pete's avatar.

On the second point, it's not been very clear. But thanks to the "Temple Raiders" arc, we know that it is possible at least to enter the temple, plus the fact that it's hard to sneak inside, it doesn't mean that Pete cannot get in touch with whomever is close and receptive enough (woodland animals, Henry Milton...)

So, avatars on average remain active for 46.6 years?
Most important thing I've learned from D&D?
No matter how tempting it may be, as a DM I can't both present a problem and solve it.
Every time a DMPC or NPC fixes something a payer couldn't i'm diminishing and undermining that player's contribution.
