We need more, MUCH more of this couple. Come on, Jesse, after you rescued Tiny Tum you can go back to Zach and kiss him under the mistletoe :D

(Also, is there ANY doubt that the Openermas choir theme from now will feature that field manual's instructions?)

At least she caught the possibility of the stuff being a lethal dose. And good call on keeping the field guide away from the others. It's bad enough when your private diary is read as scripture.

I love how Jessica still isn't convinced :)
Also,

 I love the ferals' (minus Jessica of course) uncontrollable worship for everything Zach.

I could see the last panel being an image for the Crazy-Prepared trope page- or at least for the webcomic sub page.

Some people just don't know how to accept help. It fits her cynicism well enough, healthy or otherwise. Nice catch for her on the potential dosage difference, that may be intended for humans. This is the first strip in which Zach's coloring has seemed different to me without it being mentioned first.

We'd need an inventive community Vet to write that one. Hlaroo, it's up to you!

Looking in the drawers and on the work units
for medicines, warmth givers and bags
It becomes evident that this is one way
in which Zach's compassion never lags.
He's taken on board her opinions
and listened calmly to hear of her strife
so now he's giving Openermas gifts
with the aim of saving a young life.
It's the only way they'll take them, you know?
As gifts from the one they now worship.
Even if Jess herself doesn't believe
it's a necessary line for her to slip.
The truth of the situation is a needed lie
The ferals? They need it. It gets them by.

Why do I think that the next strip will feature Jessica at Ink's home helping Tiny Tum while the other ferals get notice about Zach's selfless aid. And the following Strip on openermas showing the Arbelt's home overrun by ferals to paise the Opener of Ways.

Say, you know that Zach's name is Zachary, right?

In Bioshock Infinite, the main antagonist is named Zachary Hale Comstock.

"The active ingredient of Aspirin [acetylsalicylic acid] was first discovered from the bark of the willow tree in 1763 by Edward Stone of Wadham College, Oxford University." - Wikipedia

There's a lot of other stuff in willow bark, and some of it is probably poisonous as well.

Yes, aspirin is fairly toxic, and would likely never be approved for human use as a pain remedy if it was brought new to the market today.

And it can be more toxic for other species.

I just realized the whole thing with Ink is pretty much a reference to The Secret of NIMH.
Despite me praising that movie as the best animated feature of all time, I still didn't manage to catch that immediately.

Really? IIRC overdosing on aspirin can cause holes in the stomach lining because it changes the pH levels to acidic, but aside from that I know of nothing that would prompt the authorities to take it off the market.

That's not true, because the lining of the stomach is protecting the organ from being digested by itself from the stomach acid, PH scale of 1-2.

I'm fairly sure abuse of aspirin can lower pH values enough that the mucosa can't withstand in spots.

I didn't say they'd take it *off* the market, I said that if it was introduced now it wouldn't be approved for general use as an OTC painkiller. Why? Because there are better alternatives with fewer side effects.

When I had West Nile, they had me on Prednisone at first, but switched me off to high doses of Ibuprofen (Advil), with Acetaminophen (Aspirin) to back it up if it wasn't powerful enough. They're two different kinda of drugs, so they combine well. The reason Acetaminophen isn't popular with doctors nowadays is that it causes stomach and liver damage at a much higher rate than Ibuprofen, which is better at hitting the underlying symptoms of fever and swelling anyway.
