Title Text: robbing the cradle a bit there, are we

Ah, Jata, I've always admired how difficult it is to dissuade you and your blind obedience to the letter of the law.

Ummmmm I'm pretty sure contract law doesn't work that way like anywhere. The amount of legal problems allowing very young children to make legal contracts like this would be insane.

cats go 'GYHK' and dogs go 'GYKH'. Is it a crime for me to point out? =P

My bet is that Fido is going to try to get Grape to intervene, but she tells him to do it himself.

Love hides its reflective face
from old, impassioned, disgrace
The thought of intent so young
may be a tale of a passion stung.

History tells the sad old tale
of affection that is born to fail.
The King back then commanded
her away to render love invalid

and she grew up. He never knew
the reason and his absent love grew
as Sabrina got on with her life.
Now Jata's arrived, seeking his wife.

She's going to have to tell what she's able.
She's not alone. Back up's under the table.

I know it's totally the wrong accent and voice, but is anyone else reading Jata's dialog in Kelsey Grammer's voice?

Jata looks so innocent sometimes, like in panel three here. Sadly, as regards the competitive nature of love, he has a prince's almost inevitable naiveté.

That said, with Grape there as Concord (nice naming Rick), and Fido under the table, the gang is all here for this to escalate interestingly.

Nice cliffhanger! Now all we need is William Conrad narrating...

Will Jata talk Sabrina into going back home with him?
Will Jata be the last being in the world to learn that Grape is a girl?
Will Fido be discovered under the table --- and if so will he get stuck with The check?
Has Kevin got Maxwell down to .5% body fat?

Tune in next time for:

"A TALE OF TWO KITTYS"
or
"LOVE CONCORDS ALL"!

I know it! I was right it that the pledge they as kittens was a legally binding contract and that no matter what Sabrina did, even bringing in Fido can't get her out of it.

It probably has to do with the culture Jata comes from; which, influences their laws.

That is not what we are talking about here; as far as I understand it anyway, this is not a marriage arranged by Jata's Father, the two of them just made a promise to each other. Even if it were an arranged marriage it would have been null and void when Jata's Father kicked them out and closed the borders, because it would be rather stupid, and make absolutely no sense, to keep his son in an arranged marriage to someone he hated enough to kick out of the country.

I don't think it matters if Jata knows that Grape Concord is a girl or not, he seems to think that he's already won this round!
Unless he's just messing with her for doing something as silly as this, which I hope he is so I can like him as a cool guy instead of a suave jerk.

But as pointed out in a previous comic Jata's father passed away which makes Jata king now and that means he makes the laws now.

Hey I just had a strange idea,

What are the chances that Jata already has a wife or wives; because, I doubt that Jata's father would let him remain single with him being the future king of his country and all.

This is going to end badly, very very badly... Poor Jata, you dont know how demonic and satanic love is, especially after not seeing your chosen one for ages! To add to it, she "cheated" you with a DOG!!!! (Concorde is actually a disguise-cat)

What are the chances Keene told him where Sabrina was? After all, if she goes with him, she's an opposition piece 'off the board' and, if she fights the contract through the courts she risks getting his side closer to their goal of equality.

Actually that idea is pretty good, let's just say he really is would that mean he wants Sabrina to be one of his other wives or to be his alpha(?) female (or main wife) or is he just messing around with her and his reasons for coming to Babylongarden is a complete different. If it's the last one, I say it has something to do with Pete's Temple.

If Jata wants really Sabrina to be his wife or one of his wives, then I want to know is he naive or kinda....stupid to insist on something like that?

Or maybe he wants her whether she agrees or not, and believes he can force her by means of a legal trap.

Interesting... I didn't notice it was an uncommon word until I read the link to this thread. Then I realized I only knew it because it's almost the same as its Spanish equivalent.

I got in on a technicality. I didn't have to look it up. I did look it up. But I didn't have to. No one made me. ;)

From his expressions in this strip it does appear he might be having her on but considering their love was the first thing he mentioned before he even had any idea Sabrina was currently taken, I think he might be in earnest. It'll be interesting to see how this turns out.
