Very meaningful quote that times in with the strip. Very nice!

It's rather cute how this lovely little quarrel is turning out to be. I wonder what Fido must be thinking while he's in the middle of it all, haha. Poor guy. Plus a new word learned today, yay! *Leveled up on sophisticated diction*

Does anyone else think Pete is constructing the argument for him and/or is the cause of all this?

I wouldn't be surprised if he was. This could all be part of the game for all we know.

Alas, poor Jata. Just the product of his peasant upbringing in a backwards, third-world country.

Wait, what? He's the Prince of an advanced Nation?

Technically speaking doesn't everything in and from that universe belong to the game? Maybe this is how he will get Sabrina on his side! :o

Hmm... that's quite true. Everything does happen for a reason which sooner leads to desired or undesired results. But oh gawd, I think you may be on to something!

No, the Game didn't create that universe, it's just being played in it.

The founding fathers of USA didn't make that continent either. Whatever the heavenly order laws are in hp, they could allow for the cosmic larpers to own that universe.

Except that everything we've seen seems to indicate that's not the case.
They are playing a game inside an existing universe in which they are not allowed to interfere with any soul's passing into eternity. Much the way larpers play on public property and are free to do so as long as they don't cause any damage.

Yet there are laws out here against say, animal cruelty, even on private property. Who's to say there are or aren't in there? (The answer is Rick)

How should that work?
Sabrina don't want to marry Jata and even it that somehow happens, she still don't have to work for Pete.
He couldn't trick her either, because she knows the rules good enough. So how should that bring Sabrina on Pete's side?

I hope Fido learned some things from Bailey, if so he would come out and deliver him an awesome speech while giving him the deathglare combined with the red eyes of doom and in the case that Jata won't listen to him or maybe threatens him, Fido could give him a good looking face.
Okay I admit that won't happen, but it would be funny

If she goes with him, Dragons' side loses an important piece. If she fights, it'd have to be legally. So courts would have to judge if the contract is valid or if she has the same rights as a Human to get out of it. They may even use the 'child bride' argument. And Pete wins if pets become equals... But I don't think this would have anything to do with Pete. This is how his 'partner' Keene would fight.

Unless I missed something, ownership of the universe wasn't mentioned explicitly in that arc, though it did provide excellent explanation of the nature of the game. Either way, speculation is a great form of enjoyment generated in here

No. Multiply .5 years and 1.5 years by 3.5. She was 2 and he was 5.
So apparently he got her to agree to marry him when she learned how to talk, and now he's pushing her into actually doing it now that they're adults and his father's out of the way....

That was right, Jata doesn't really care of Sabrina's other love story and it's only considering his own with her seriously. The problem there was in the too high age difference, now deal with it Sabrina, despite Jata is realizing it.

so I'm assuming in the Housepets world the "pets" age athe the same rate pets do in the real world. So at 6 months for a cat I would put Sabrina in the equivalent to her early teens like 11 12ish. must be fast learners

Pets live about twice as long in the Housepets! universe, on average. It's been assumed that affects the maturation process and time frame.

In Dog Days of Summer it was explained that they play the game within the universe, which is one of thousands like it. They put rules in play and take on a policy of Intrinsic benevolence.http://www.housepetscomic.com/2010/07/1 ... details-2/

Or read the whole arc! It was a fun one!http://www.housepetscomic.com/category/ ... of-summer/

And besides, this comic is about talking animals, not the Game. The Cosmic Game is only one aspect of the comic, not it's focus or focal point.

As for this strip, I love how matter of fact Jata is being. Heh, his smile is just so genuine and sincere.

I have been wondering if the elongated lifespan affected how fast they mature. I guessed that since they live twice as long as our pets, then perhaps they matured at half the regular rate of our pets.
Eh, just another piece of guesswork I'm adding here.

You got a prince who's childhood sweethearts with Sabrina against a K-9 unit who secretly hides his relationship with her behind trees and under tables. It's kinda hard finding the perfect moment to step up with so much taboo going on.

Also, I feel that if you we're to isolate Jata's head from the rest of panel 3, he would appear kinda derp. ;3

Interesting... I didn't notice it was an uncommon word until I read the link to this thread. Then I realized I only knew it because it's almost the same as its Spanish equivalent.
Well, I speak Spanish and still didn't know that word till now. My ignorance has no limits.
deepskycyan wrote:Speaking of age, I wonder how old they are now??
Almost everything about the ages of the characters is still a mystery. The only thing that has been revealed (in Sabrina's prose) is that the lifespan of pets is around 40 years, 50 for ferals.
Also, it has been said that even though the years pass the characters do not grow older.

At least we know the age of one character: Duke (so I suppose all the ferrets are around the same age. Keene and Rock are probably the older brothers).

About the other characters, at least we know there's some age difference between them:
-Grape and Joey are the youngest (I estimate four years old)
-Peanut, Bino, Max and Sasha are around one year older than those below. (five years old)
-Fido, Sabrina, Fox and Bailey are around one year older than those below. (Six years old)
-Ralph and Duchess are probably the oldest. (unknown?)
-Tarot, King, Karishad and the wolf pack are a mystery to me.

Now I have some funny thoughs about this arc:
-We'll probably see Mr. London (failing) again in this arc.
-When Sabrina is about to leave in the plane with Jata, Fido will stop her singing "Love of my life".
