Man, paw pads are the best. They don't even need to wear socks!

Nice call back to the early early early strips when P&G would find ways to amuse themselves with whatever presented itself in the Sandwhich household.

Pet-sized elbow and knee pads. <3

Gah. Now I can't stop thinking about "Wax on ~ Wax off" :(

In addition to hockey, you could also push each other around and play pinball =3

Instant pain relief. I love Penut, but I think Grape would win that match.

Socks on a smooth floor produce a similar effect. Great childhood times (and bruises). Now don't break anything!

I'm SO going to write a scene of that!!!
It's so cute that they know each other so well and come up with the same solution :D :D

...Plus, P&G totally beat the ferrets, who didn't come up with the same solution!

Oh this made me remember, I did something similar when I was a kid with my brother. We were supposed to wash the terrace of our house, so we poured the water, then the soap and one thing led to another and we were playing hockey ... with brooms and a desk instead of a goal. Good times

A shining floor
leads to a game
loaded with pace
and in the frame

The puck slides
over the kitchen
Peanut glides
free of friction.

Grape speeds right up
after the puck
for the house cup
testing her luck.

Mom's gonna shout
down the whole house
as Puck flies out
she will then grouse

'My wall! My Vase!
Out you two, out!'
Her fury will ace
their game, no doubt.

Who DIDN'T want to do this as a child though? Forget video games, the best games were the ones you made up!

I totally missed that reference. Is it from a game?

Very funny, this is one of my favorite one-offs in a while.

The third panel is interesting.. Peanut has a 'wait a minute' look on his face that we've seen before, but I think this is the first time we've seen this particular look come over Grape's face.

I especially like the backgrounds. It may be my imagination, but it seems in recent strips Rick de-emphasized objects surrounding the characters so much that new readers might not realize they are supposed to have the height of a small child. The counter in the first three panels and the dining room set in the fourth nicely reinforce this.

At first glance I thought the refrigerator handle above grape in panel 3 was one of those little exclamation marks (ping!) that appear over people's heads in MGS.
Silly me :3

Also, does Peanut have what seems to be tiny eyelashes in panel 2? Makes him look a little more feminine that I would've liked, but still, he's as cute as ever! :)

This can only end well. And by that I mean tears, explosions, and a puck in the microwave.

You know, this would be fun, except I suffer from Luposlipaphobia: the fear of being chased by around the kitchen table by timberwolves, while wearing socks on a freshly waxed floor. (Thank you, Gary Larson.)

Yeah, I was just thinking how cool it would be if Grape and Peanut had little compact fluorescent lamp‎s (CFL or 'curly fluorescent lights') appear over their heads. That's one gag I haven't seen in any comic... yet.

Also, CFLs are already on the edge of being superseded by LEDs. I replaced the CFLs in my hallway and bedroom already.

Hee hee! Thanks; I couldn't find a good scan, myself.
Argent wrote:CFLs are already on the edge of being superseded by LEDs. I replaced the CFLs in my hallway and bedroom already.
Y'okay; I have one in my hallway (not bright enough to wake folks up at night) and in my fridge -- no heat to speak of, and always starts quickly. The biggest problem is the power supply; LEDs were developed to use about a volt and a half; the quick & dirty circuit used in most LED bulbs generates more heat than light. Unfortunately, more sophisticated voltage regulators require (relatively) expensive integrated circuits.

Well, they're diodes, so they have a forward bias voltage of 0.7v.

But they're competing with incandescents (which produce almost all heat and a little light) and CFLs (which still produce more heat than light).
