I'm pretty sure when he says "not again" he means his collar has been taken before.

Ah, but have you ever seen a pet take off their collar? They don't even take it off when they sleep. I think this is the first time we've seen a pet without a collar, and that's probably for a reason. I'll bet it's like their equivalent to a social security number, or something as such, and pets probably wouldn't steal collars, even in jest.

Or I could be trying to defend a losing viewpoint. Either way, I'm speculating.

Not really.. I mean it's more of just the first time Rick has ever had to draw a neck instead of a collar.

Unless you count the zoo arc...

I took the "OH NOT AGAIN" line as a reference to the kidnapping. It could be the missing collar, though. I wonder if that'll be clarified?

We shall see, I guess.

It's the "simple yet decptive" thing. Grah. I won't forget now. That's a total of 3 spelling errors I've been called out now. It's like a game to you guys, isn't it?!?!

Anyway, I have more proof positive of being dognapped again. I think that pets can't take off their collars without human assistance. Otherwise, I'm sure Bino would have done something about this.

I'm pretty sure that's a special case - Pets would hate shock collars, so they'd fight tooth and nail to remove em. So of course they'd be near impossible for a pet to remove. Normal collars, on the other hand, would need no such safeguards - they're a form of ID, much like their real-life counterparts, as they hold an ID tag with their name and other pertinent info. Have to agree with the theory that, for Housepets! pets, loosing a collar or ID tag would be like one of us loosing a Drivers License or Social Security number. Not good.

I assumed (with dread) that Fox's been kidnapped before. But I cna only assume he's fought his way out before. Or has beenn rescued.

I'm expecting some elaborate Rugrats-esque scheme from the others to get him back.

Lol, I know, I know... "it's a webcomic." But it still draws on reality for some of it's base, since it's a parody of real life in some areas, and a what-if in others. Even in real life, loosing a collar with ID on it is bad for a pet, but they don't know that. Here, they would.

There's supposed to be suspension of disbelief, but pretty much, the "rules" will be whatever Rick says they are. If he decided to make change the color's, or revamp the style yet again, or one of any million different changes he could make, we'd either live with it, or quit reading the comic.

That's likes saying Fairly odd parents or Family guy is realistic because it adds in real life to make it's comedy relateable. Srsly you are looking too deep into it.

it's not like saying fairly odd parents or family guy is realistic because he didn't say housepets is realistic. he's just drawing on the comparisons to reality that the comic has and is speculating on how reality could apply to other areas of the comic. Srsly you are being a bit cynical (lul, but so am I). suspension of disbelief means suspending disbelief, not pointing it out.

No he isn't, he's a nice character, but not foxy, like my man boxy, boxy brown.

but anyways, I like the new strip, hate the expression fox has when angry.

"I don't want to be feral, I want my squeaky toy!" reminds me of "I brather not be an assassin, more of just a little girl, sir"(not going to tell you where the quote is from because it's some old Japanese movie about some girl raised up as the vision of a clydesdale but stolen to become a assassin for having something with her eye that gave her some sixth sense, it's weird)

Maybe Fox is a sociopath and loses it when his collar's been removed. That'd be pretty scary, right?

Fox has long been one of my favorite characters, so it's nice to see him getting some coverage like this.

Hmm. Well, It can go anywhere from here. I highly doubt that Bill will be deceived, but you never know.

Anyway, I got a chance to research PETA. In short, they try to do a good thing: Animal Rights. The way they go about it, however...Well, they're nutcases, media attention clydesdale and rather extreme. And it's honestly quite hypocritical that they wouldn't cut into their advertising budget to save the animals at their shelters. It's easy to see how they have a bad name, and make other animal rights groups, sane ones, look bad. To me, it seems like PETA is one step away from terrorism. Or rather, it is, except they don't cause people bodily harm.

So that's that. Anyway, the more violent side of me wants to see Fox maul someone. Preferably the non-facepunched PETA crazyguy.

Current comic - Doggie ranks

Post by Keeshah »

Is sergeant Ralph's rank a ceremonial, warrant rank? or is an actual rank in the police's command structure?

I just don't see this society being ready to take orders from a pet..

Perhaps he can command the other dogs under his command.

We sure have interesting conversations here, yup.

But yeah, I'm thinking that the ranks are real in a sense, like a higher rank dog would be able to boss around a lower rank dog. But a dog wouldn't boss around a human, I don't think. It just seems to me like the kind of thing that Rick would make.
