It was as was foretold, not unlike the foretelling that came before
That's true--and I can't help feeling that something is going to be amiss in this recreation at some point, though I have no idea what at present....

What would be interesting would be Peanut and Grape holding a conversation on THAT--on how much of experience of a work of art is objective, due to the work itself, and how much is subjective, with the observers adding elements to it that weren't in the original work of art but are based on the observer's preferences, experiences, and beliefs....

Tarot is relying exclusively on Peanut's memories for her depiction of Pridelands, and Peanut is a fairly fast reader. This leads to two possible problems.

1.) Peanut's vision of this fantasy land differs somewhat from Grape and Max's.
2.) Peanut doesn't quite remember everything that happened, or is missing key details.

Just sayin'.

EDIT: Well, balls. Someone pointed this out like two pages ago. Slow D.Z. is slow.
Possible, but it is also possible to read quickly and still gain the key details. I'm a fast reader myself--of course, I tend to reread things I love over and over until I've nearly memorized them, but maybe Peanut does too....

My first thought here was Tarot as Zazu.
Now I'm sure everyone's dying to know where Peanut has gotten to.

That is funny--to be able to say something that makes so much sense and not be able to understand a word of it. I guess Tarot's the Game Master here, then...?

I wonder who Grape had in mind, if not the princess.... It is neat, though, that it's not their choice who they get to be.... Still wonder who Peanut is....

This is going to be so much fun to read all the way through when the arc is finished.... :D

I did notice, though, that Tarot doesn't have yellow eyes there....

Well, Tarot does not appear in this comic; that is Jeijan. = P

Anyway, nice job describing what's going on.

I know that, but Max and Grape kept their eye color--that and their expressions here help me recognize them even with their new bodies.

I would never have had any idea that was Tarot as Jeijan if Max/Parnok hadn't said it.

I'm kind of curious, if he does turn out to be Spot, as to how Spot looks when drawn by Rick instead of Peanut. Like, high-res.

My guess: Imagine Miles. Now take the muscles of Darrel and add them to Miles. Also, give him floppy ears. Remember, Spot is a superhero and superheroes are by nature very muscular. ("Wait a second, I don't go to the gym! I'm just naturally like this.")

Tarot did keep her eye color. They're green right now, as they should be. Recall that when Tarot is actively using her powers, her eyes turn green! Since this is a gigantic Tarot mental projection...green eyes.

And once again, Feather Fingers for the win.

Though, I would like to note that she loses her pupils once she is fully into the magic, as opposed to just 'starting up' or something. And, you know, the rest of her eyes too.

Ah, yes, but this is just a mental projection, "sometimes it gets out of hand." This probably means that this isn't one of Tarot's full on powers where she must communicate with the spirits directly to make the power work, since it can happen by accident. Thus, she does not lose her pupils because she does not need the full power.

Also, A spot would not fit the scenario, so I think we can scrap that one (relief)

i want fork and spoon birds!

Also, either peanut, Max and Grape are all going to be heroes, Peanut will be a king or important character, or Peanut will be, in his sense, a bad guy gone good character. (Hyena!)

...Well...this is even more intresting now. Since they are only those character because it fits the "scenario" that could mean a multitue of characters Peanut could be. It seems slim but he could probably be Spot the Super Dog, but that seems a lot less likely now, but then again this is his idea of what should be going on at the moment. But it now seems more likely that he will be a 'big cat' but how it will be is the mystery. If I had to say though, we might not get to see Peanut for two-four more updates though.

RICK I LOVE HOW YOU DRAW BIRDS
I still hold to the theory that Peanut will be a hyena; after all:
A.) We NEED a villian. Forgive me for digging too deep into this, but if Grape and Max are the heroes, someone has to be a villian, and since Peanut kinda sorta has a problem with their relationship, it makes sense. And it fits into the whole "places to fill" deal.
B.) Wouldn't have Peanut shown up by now if he was a good guy?
Edit: C.) Dog=Hyena, Cat=Lion. I WILL STAND BY THIS.

It's also very possible that in this world's sense, Peanut may try to save Saso somehow with his own version of the story. i'm betting if he is Saso, he'll also try to make him 'not' a traitor as well.

otherwise, it's back to this comic all over again! Also notice that Parnok appears to be the one that kills Saso o_o

I can't help but agree with you about Peanut being the Hyena/villian, but since this takes place where he beleaves the story is at in his mind, he could be anyone he wants really.

Kidding aside, they reason I don't like the wing-hands is that they look quite freakish in my view. I know it's a setting with cartoon anatomy and heavy anthropomorphisation (well, duh), but it's something different if birds are depicted as "anthro-standard" (upright walking, height between 1 and 2 metres, arms with "feather curtains" instead of actual wings) or as basically real-worlds analogs with humongous human hands sticking out of their sides. No offense, but frankly, seeing panel #3 the image of that gengineered mouse with the ear on its back briefly flashed in my mind's eye.
