First time the alt text made me laugh more than the comic itself.

Well, it depends! There is an opposite meaning, which is obviously opposite, but there's also a blocked and a reversed (or upside-down) meaning which are more complex.
I was going to make a joke but then I did.

You mean this comic has nonhumans?

They may not be Homo Sapiens Sapiens, but I'd have to say they're almost all as human as most people are.

Well, and I know the scene as follows from the movies/TV shows:

Someone draws "Death" -> Ominous music -> Shocked expression(s) -> Fortune teller gives a fauxlosophic speech about the true meaningâ„¢ of the card -> Actors try to look intrigued

The joke's quite good with Tarot giving a concrete answer and thus undermining the fauxlosophic elements.

oh i am aware that it is a trope, but i dont see it used often.

i must say that "fauxlosophic" is actually a good portmanteau.

So... wait, does he pronounce it "miles" or "mee-leys"? Because the second would be the Latin pronunciation.

You would pronounce it 'miles' like a sane person would, because we are not speaking Latin. But that does not mean it's not derived from Latin.

I wonder how long it takes till BLOODGUN comes up... Ten internets for anybody who gets that.

Both Miles and Lucretia seem to be very learned in Roman history, nice touch.

I like to assume parents- *ahem*, good parents do put actual effort into naming their children. Were I to choose my own name now, however, I might go with Sedgewick or Ignatius. I kinda like names with class.

The ungrateful relatives might have done better to hire a decent broker. *laughs*

I'm particularly hoping to see the ungrateful relatives severely mauled by the wolf pack.

Also, I like the inclusion of government 'bailouts' and the fact that they helped the would-be heirs about as much as the real-deal government aid did (for example) General Electric. NBC isn't something you get rid of when you're rolling in money! *giggles* (Dissension is conservative.)
