Old Comic Discussion: "Imaginate" to "Imaginate, too!"
Re: current comic
I don't know... The trouble with the "giant conspiracy" theories is they can be used to justify anything at all. Once you start that, you can never really reach any kind of conclusion.

Re: current comic
Somehow i feel the strip and especially the alt text can be applied to what is going on in the here forum
And Grape face is just awesome.

Uhh.... Who's fireplace is this?
Re: current comic
Wow, Grape loves Pridelands more than we Housepets! And analyzes it more, too.

Re: current comic
This reminds me of some of the conversations I've had with you guys. Pridelands is to Grape as Housepets! is to us, but with books and at least one feature-length movie and not just a(n awesome) comic.

Re: current comic
Y'know, at first I was pretty sure Pridelands was a Harry Potter parody, but it occurs to me that it's probably more like Twilight. Consider:
- It skews extremely heavily towards a specific audience (cats).
- It doesn't appear to be particularly well-written.
- It's required to be regularly bashed by anyone not in that target audience.
- The characters are designed to make the target audience swoon in stupid childish crushes.
- Despite all this, it's hard to stop reading if you dare start.
And most of all, Grape right now reminds me of my little sister going on about the brilliance of her sparkly vampire series. Ah well.

Re: current comic
Perhaps, but I like to think that Grape isn't some ditzy philistine ready to love something, despite how crap it is, because there are attractive men prancing about in it. So usually I think of Pridelands as being something along the lines of George R. R. Martin's A Song Of Fire And Ice series.
Actually, now that I think of it, am I the only one who noticed that this series is mentioned in the comic from time to time? Peanut is reading the first book, A Game Of Thrones here: http://www.housepetscomic.com/2008/07/11/a-real-buzz/, and the fourth, A Feast For Crows, here: http://www.housepetscomic.com/2008/12/2 ... s-edition/

My guess is, considering the themes of today's strip, a mix between the "Foundation" series and "Twilight".caesalson wrote:So usually I think of Pridelands as being something along the lines of George R. R. Martin's A Song Of Fire And Ice series.

Re: current comic
I pretty much only see the Twilight series reflection hinted in Grape's eyes from time to time. Although Grape is a much more smarter reader than we're lead on to believe, she is similar to how a fan originally goes for the series's hook, in this case what we're guessing is the Lion Tribes, then gets interested in everything else afterwards.
On another note, i wanted to comment how i find Maxwell and Grape talking about books infront of a fireplace to be very cute and romantic. I swear that fireplace alone makes me wonder whose place they are staying at =3

nvm....

Re: current comic
Teh Brawler - that's not exactly precise. Computer chips usually use CMOS (complementary MOS), which surprisingly uses MOSFET transistor (tautology I know). Voltage on the gate pin controls, how big electric current can flow from source to drain (or collector to emitter, but this is rather used in "classic" bipolar transistors). Because in digital technology usually only two states are used, these two are no-current (source->drain) or flowing current and nothing in between. But trough the gate alone, virtually no current flows anywhere (unlike in bipolar transistors' base pin) and only the voltage on this pin determines how big current can flow trough the transistors (because it creates some sort of "bridge" - conductive area, or "eliminates" this bridge, depending if it's transistor of type N or P (both are used, since it's complementary MOS technology)), but no current (electricity as you say) flows trough gate (the switching pin), so basically statement "When electricity flows through them, they swich" is wrong, or imprecise at the best.
cooljoe224: You mean that comic is so simple, logical and fun? I agree with the last one, but an ancient temple containing imprisoned griffin? Human turned into a dog by 'magic'? Evil story twists? Nothing? Hmm? Um...
Anyway, I was nice when I first saw current comic, with Grape and Max lying next to pretty, warm fireplace, while I was freezing to death on the bus station (I said it before and I'll do it again: I WANT FUR like dogs and cats have)

I think what he's saying is that Grape's analysis is incredibly complex and is hard to follow without foreknowledge of the subject. Like, say, someone explaining how a computer works with little to no knowledge of the basics of computing.
Re: current comic
Humorously, i find it funny that Grape finds imaginary animals in tribal gear to be better than the real deal <3
I could imagine Maxwell or even Peanut donning tribal gear just to poke fun at Grape's imagination and have her go "LIES AND DECEIT!" at the idea.

People are getting confused about which comic we're talking about, even though the topic says 'current comic' - but anyway. Is it time we start splitting it up?

More cute and romantic education from the female side of the pet families <3
i'm predicting Rick's pattern this week is to show the more well-known couples in the series so far with the third couple getting something of a 'doh!' moment: Max and Grape, Peanut and Tarot, and most likely Fido and Sabrina.
i'm onto you, Rick! *scurries off*

So cute, and so funny. I must say I lol'ed. Next comic, both couples together? Or maybe Fido & Sabrina? I want to see more Sabrina!
Re: current comic
Or perhaps it will be back to Max and Grape, and it could be an alternating thing? Or there could be no pattern at all! It remains to be seen!

are these still one offs or is this starting a new story? I can't tell because it still only shows the comic.

Strangely, if you draw a tarot card facing upside down, the meaning itself would be the opposite of its original. Got this info from a book that I've read before.

Alex, I don't think one's supposed to 'fix' a direct quote.
Anyway, I would call Bino * Sasha more an abusive relationship rather than a couple.

Re: current comic
i really don't see many movies or television shows use tarot cards. the one time i can remember was in the second season of true blood. yes, there was ominous music and suspense but it was not the death card, it was justice. i suppose by the end of the season i understood it (justice was served, but for whom?).
i also agree with tarot's view on death. even though here death symbolizes change, death also brings about change in the living. in the few times people have died in my life, i've seen myself and the people around me change as well, and the more tragic and sad the death, the more change there is.
